Subsequent to my earlier post around player / role experimentation (looking at diff roles) .....the news that Soligo to have more mid time & Keays in a diff role .....and news on ROB below, suggests we're more about experimentation GreyCrow in year 3 ....than we are about Wins / lossesIn my mind, as small as it is, I believe we are patch quilting the side, to look at players / roles ....with a view of year end delistings & getting games into a wide array of players .....building a base around contested ball, which as I stated is hard, when you're undersized

I noticed it was subdued. Whether that was because they already knew or something else I couldn't read.
Surely Strachan asks to be traded this offseason. Where would he see himself fitting in this system? Also means we need to pick up 1 more, possibly 2 more ruckmen if he does go.Subsequent to my earlier post around player / role experimentation (looking at diff roles) .....the news that Soligo to have more mid time & Keays in a diff role .....and news on ROB below, suggests we're more about experimentation GreyCrow in year 3 ....than we are about Wins / losses

I'd say it's to get Thilthorpe more motivated and up around the ball than anything to do with ROB's output.Subsequent to my earlier post around player / role experimentation (looking at diff roles) .....the news that Soligo to have more mid time & Keays in a diff role .....and news on ROB below, suggests we're more about experimentation GreyCrow in year 3 ....than we are about Wins / losses

That's the impression I got tooI reckon they are over listening to Nicks….
Can we not play O'Brien at FF...the days of a lumbering Ruck resting at FF dies in the 80s FFS. If he doesn't mark the ball ( and lately he just doesn't) then we are a player down because even a player with two torn hamstrings should be able to avoid being caught by him. Of course if he does mark it, then its a crap shoot.
Just when you think our game plan can't get any worse, they put O'Brien at full forward. If he is so s**t at ruck...put him in the twos, not at Full forward
Blight would throw a young player in there without worrying if it was the right call.
What's important to understand is that plenty were stuff ups - Tom Gilligan, Brent Williams, Lance Picioane, Linden Stevens, Andrew Eccles - which you need to have so that you get the Simon Goodwin, Kane Johnson and Tyson Edwards right ones.
For some reason we wait for guarantees?
If we pick Newchurch in a few games for instance and he SUCKS, looks scared, goes into his shell or whatever then that's a good thing because we can delist him and move on. If he shows a few glimpses but battles overall that's also good because we can see into the future that he's got something and gives him a clear picture of what he needs to work on.
Case in point Ben Davis. The fact this guy is still on our list is a travesty. If we pick Newchurch in a few games for instance and he SUCKS, looks scared, goes into his shell or whatever then that's a good thing because we can delist him and move on. Surely nobody swaps jumpers with fu##### Hawthorn!!?
I agree with you on Soglio but what have you seen in Pedlar that makes you think he will be a great mid?Because for whatever reason, our current midfield mix is TERRIBLE .....too many of the same type, slow and handball happy .....Crouch throws the balance right out
Hately is NOT a Wingman
Soligo will be a great mid .....Pedlar also ....also can see Cook / Milera as a Mid
Milera has been proven to not be an AFL FWD ....despite where he played at Centrals ....it limits his skillsets
He's taller than he looks ....but nothing I've seen changes my opinion, he's Garry McIntosh reincarnated ....but with a bit more classI agree with you on Soglio but what have you seen in Pedlar that makes you think he will be a great mid?
I hope you are right.
From what I’ve seen he does not have the skill of Macca, Macca was a brute but highly skilledHe's taller than he looks ....but nothing I've seen changes my opinion, he's Garry McIntosh reincarnated ....but with a bit more class

IMPROVEMENTS:
- Contested Game
- Power
- Tackling
- Scoreboard Impact
- Leadership
- Work-rate
A midfield bull is a common term used for the likes of Joel Selwood and Ollie Wines, and Pedlar fits that term more than any other draft prospect this year. Pedlar will always put his head over the ball and will never deviate no matter what comes at him.
- Finesse
- Clean hands
Pedlar wasn’t able to test at the start of the year or the end of the year which was unfortunate but his ability to burst away from packs and take strong marks inside 50 would lend to him having jumping power and speed, which is a great combination to have in the modern game, especially playing a role that demands those traits at the next level

He's certainly no Crouch, that's for sure .....I think you have to factor in development in comparing the two players ....Pedlar is just starting his journeyFrom what I’ve seen he does not have the skill of Macca, Macca was a brute but highly skilled

Nah ....if your confident, go with "Premier Midfielder" status .....some players, you just knowIf we had a “Garry McIntosh clone but with even more class” we’d be in the 8.
Might’ve gone a bit early on the kid.
If I didn't know who Ben Davis was and was told he'd been on a list for six years for six games, I would've thought he was a project ruckman.Case in point Ben Davis. The fact this guy is still on our list is a travesty.
Tex is literally just about the best field kick in the AFL. Who better to teach our guys how to kick?
