This is quite a good read and I agreed with a fair bit of it

Not Munkara , Broadbent so much

I’d have Jefferson and Jakob Ryan higher

Interesting take on Keeler , and he doesn’t look overweight in the photo taken just 3 weeks ago to me ! Looks skinny even

Or would Nicks have used his Wings differently, if Seedsman & Dawson had been played there ......and our DEF didn't leak like a colander

And of course on that old "chestnut" .....the DEF would have stood up better IF we had a decent midfield mix

This is a major point, re the midfield mix .....look at the game in replay ...HAW Mids used their legs to break free of contests / ball-ups and delivered mostly by foot

Us however, handballed out of congestion, with a multitude of in-close handballs .....our Mids by in large, don't use legs to power out of congestion ....and of course size is a factor in this .....maybe why we recruited Turner ??

This using your legs more, rather than handball, was why Neale's game has improved this year .....less in close handballs, more using legs to clear congestion ......but that's time in the gym & a desire to change your gamestyle (looking at you Matt)

Or direction from a midfield/ruck Coach with half a clue.
How we clear and spread from stoppages is more a Coaching issue than any individual playing style issue.

Nicks has constantly talked about power & speed thru 2022 .....I'm sure he'd rather the mids drive with their legs

We should and would be drilling the way we want to play.
You can't tell me that they are practising one thing at training, then ignoring all that and simply playing on random instinct come gameday.

Nicks says so many things as if he is viewing us from an alternate dimension.
If thats his true desire, yet he persists with a same few disobedient prime mids who either ignore or can't comprehend his direction , then this is a Coaching issue.

Not popular on here but that is something Jones is capable of but I think it looks like it’s been coached out of him, I never seen someone so confused.
For sure , watched him play live as a kid a few times and he had all of that ability and more composure to go with

Good read. Nice in-depth analysis

Drury, Hollands, Barnett, J Ryan I’d all say are a bit stiff to be that low. Gilbey and Konstanty stiff to miss out altogether

Dunkleys partner today re -
signed with Thunderbirds Netball which surprised me so we along with Port maybe have chance of trading for .
Believe out of contract so maybe well worth getting some more class into club.

Nice pick up!

Just had a quick squiz at her Instagram and i can see that Dunkley is over here in SA to visit her A LOT. And it looks like they get out and about and enjoy themselves.

I mentioned on here previously that i saw her drop Dunkley off at Adelaide airport once on a Sunday and realised he was over here to visit just for a few days (after a Bulldogs game on the Thursday night in VIC) so he's clearly making the effort to see his missus in SA outside of just when Bulldogs play Crows/Port

Which position do you think he ends up in ? .....Doedee doesn't look to be changing his role anytime soon

I think he could play the Will Hamill or Mitch Hinge role - two way running midiszed defender with some attacking weapons.

Worrell and Sholl are probably the players who have a good case to feel disappointed with the selection decisions.

For starters my money would be on him making a better fist up forward than McAsey who has been afforded that oppportunity and has hardly set the World on fire. A lot quicker, way more agility, better leap and equally as good overhead.

Running 3rd tall defender or even a tryout on the wing....Isaac Smith type wingman...

I'm also surprised that they haven't tried Worrell there. That being said, I Think McAsey potentially has contested weapons that Worrell lacks, though Worrell is more mobile.

I bet you he wouldn't...Blicav's has been killing it. Rhys Stanley and Blicavs are a big part of how Scott plays his rucks, both way way more athletic than Strachan especially Blicavs who plays like a tall midfielder once the ball hits the deck.

Esava Ratugolea waiting in the wings another highly athletic Ruck/Forward.
Strachan would allow them to not play Stanley and move Blicavs to another role.

I know you don't rate Strachan - it's a strange blind spot for you. I'd pesonally be very supportive of us moving on O'Brien and letting Strachan take the reins for a couple of years.

Didn't Daniel Menzel kick 5 on him in round 7?

Not just him, no - and Menzel is leading the Ken Farmer medal by the length of the straight, so he's had some very reasonable games.

Have to get to the contest first to use these contested weapons you think he has.

McAsey's contested marking is not that big a standout feature of his game to compensate for his deficiencies in other areas as a KPF. If he's to make it at all it will be as defender IMO.

If we're trudging in for yet another gruelling feedback session filled with negatives it's no surprise we're playing as we are

Quality coaches and organisations can get the key points across in ways that are constructive. Players learn without being belittled, are better for the experience. Even in the down times and amidst quite serious discussions there are plenty of laughs, taking the piss out of each other and themselves etc

I do wonder if our atmosphere is a bit more doom and gloom. Pinning blame, highlighting mistakes etc artificially smoothed over with a few gimmick announcements here and there to highlight how much fun they're all having

Yeah, interestingly I guess we have no idea, considering none of us are there.

I imagine how you think the club's confidential meetings will go would be very exposing of your feelings about the club. Obviously, you think they're a complete dumpster fire, so you project every possible bad decision is happening behind closed doors.

Pedlar is McIntosh but with more class?

Yeah, and Newchurch is Bunji but with more speed and Sholl is Edwards but with more hair.

I would have thought that a pretty reasonable assessment of Pedlar.

His body means that he's shown zero consistency, but when he's been at full strength he shows a lot of similarities to McIntosh's burst left foot, and is probably is a bit better in the air. That's a long way from saying he'll be as good as McIntosh, but he has the raw materials.

You would have said similar to those chipping in regarding Brad Crouch's body language in team meetings from previous footage.

What's your take on the player's reaction to Nicks' latest good news announcement?

It was the start of the day, and a fifteen year staff member was announced as staying for his sixteenth year.

Absolutely zero people thought Tex was leaving and the announcement was just a matter of time - it's not like they were announcing Thilthorpe's first game.

Agreed, but that's why I've been a bit more positive around McAsey's last few weeks, when he started to get to more contests. THAT'S his big issue.

Others were postulating that the mood was sombre only because they were about to dissect two dismal losses
