I'll admist I haven't seen him every week at sanfl level, but his hands are very good and he seems to get to good positions.I guess people are struggling to identify traits in him that could be useful in AFL. I think he is a KPD (good enough KPF at SANFL level) but the club has pushed him forward to make room for Frampton and Borlase which is concerning.
Strong chance if the club can get a half decent draft pick, they'll cut their losses. I want him to succeed as much as the next person but a genuine question to you, what makes you think he could make it?
On CPH1903 using BigFooty.com mobile app
I don't see how it does.
If we are giving up on a KPP we took at 6 2 years ago for a nd rd pick to get Michalaney, he'd want to be good. I assume he'll be going rd 1 hence why we need another 2nd pick??Picks are flying around like crazy these days, another 2nd rounder in the mix helps.
We aren’t giving up on McAsey to get Michaelaney, we are just giving up on McAsey. As for what we used to get him, well that’s a different story. If we are giving up on a KPP we took at 6 2 years ago for a nd rd pick to get Michalaney, he'd want to be good. I assume he'll be going rd 1 hence why we need another 2nd pick??

McAsey was drafted in 2019 so he has had 3years. I think we need forget at what pick we took McAsey. Clearly he wasn't worth anywhere near 6 and once the player is into the club it doesn't matter if they are pick 6 or 80. They need to perform and they can't be shown any favour due to a mistake from the recruiter. If we are giving up on a KPP we took at 6 2 years ago for a nd rd pick to get Michalaney, he'd want to be good. I think your analysis is spot on.I'll admist I haven't seen him every week at sanfl level, but his hands are very good and he seems to get to good positions.
I think the big issue is he's not strong enough and doesn't have the confidence to really make an impact on every contest.
Get him some strength in the legs so he can stand up in contests and not fall to ground as much, and be in the game more, like Fog has started doing.
Wow, some people here have really given up on McAsey early. What happened to young KPPs taking longer to develop?
Haven't we learnt from Marshall and Fogarty this year?

Of course there is at least one KPD in this timeframe who was picked well outside the Top 10 who played zero games in his first 3 years on an AFL list (2 rookie then upgraded to the seniors for the 3rd year) - he has since gone on to play 163 games and is a 4x All-Australian - Jeremy McGovern.I'll extend it further to the entire top 10, every player taken since 2000
Fischer McAsey (10 games in first three years)
Aaron Francis (10)
Jarrod Pickett (10)
Matt Scharenberg (4)
Mitch Thorp (2)
Scott Gumbleton (5)
Beau Dowler (3)
Tim Walsh (1)
Laurence Angwin (4)
Paul Ahern (0)
Jarrad Oakley-Nicholls (9)
John Meesen (2)
David Trotter (5)
Hamish McIntosh (1)
Ben Reid (8)
Luke Molan (0)
Nathan Freeman (0)
Ryley Dunn (4)
There's probably two players since 2000 taken in the top 10 that played as few games as Fischer in their first three years that would go on to make it
Some players that played more games than McAsey early include such epic players as Daniel Gorringe, John Butcher, Billy Longer, Jono O'Rourke, Liam Sumner, Josh Schache, Luke Brennan
Who is better than McAsey in this year's draft? If Butts or Murray went down we have Frampton and not much else.
The club should be focused on raiding the cluster that is Essendon and Norf. Tarryn Thomas, Archie Perkins, Ben Hobbs would be nice additions
Frampton and Borlase are preferred down back by the club, so what makes you think McAsey is the answer if Butts or Murray go down?Who is better than McAsey in this year's draft? If Butts or Murray went down we have Frampton and not much else.

SEN radio fodder but for what it’s worthFrampton and Borlase are preferred down back by the club, so what makes you think McAsey is the answer if Butts or Murray go down?
Hard to argueSEN radio fodder but for what it’s worth
So what’s Fischer McAsey worth as a trade ?
Korn. “early third rounder”
Hayes. “late third rounder, anything really”
Good info but the name Angwin should be blocked on here, it still causes too much pain.I'll extend it further to the entire top 10, every player taken since 2000

So what are we getting?
McAsey 3rd Rounder > Carlton
Rowe 3rd Rounder > Bulldogs
Sholl 3rd Rounder > Carlton
Crouch 3rd Rounder > North Melb
Frampton 4th Rounder > Collingwood
Does that build us up to enough points to entice Brisbane to trade their 1st Rounder to us?
Then why trade him? Pick 62 from Carlton, 120 points? No thanks.SEN radio fodder but for what it’s worth
