Riley Wilcox sounds like a Georgia Gee replacement.

Charlotte Taylor's aggression sounds awesome. Think I read the word 'beast' in her write-up.

Taylah Gatt sounds awesome too. The Kaitlyn Ashmore type we always wished we had.

Mia Busch as a small defender has some fantastic attributes.

Yes, we have lost 2 inside midfielders, but you'd think McKay, McEvoy, Guerin and Hill can handle that part of the game.

I hope you mean the midfield generally. The team definitely need to allow Mimi to continue to develop her creativity and run on the outside. I think it would be a serious waste of her abilities to be used as an extractor.

I agree though, the other three should be able to cover extraction duties. Lucy was recruited as a mid, it's just that we've needed her elsewhere and we had coverage in the midfield. It would be great if Maddy builds on her improvement from the second half of last year; loved her aggression!

I didnt like her singing the * song when MP and GG decide to go there..disrespectful
I'm pretty sanguine about players leaving as it was inevitable with the expansion teams plus more generally the $ and/or conditions do not engender^ loyalty.

BUT yeah... Egan singing the * song was pretty tactless. Not a good look/move.

^ not sure if pun intended...

Our “exodus” pales in comparison to the Suns. If these all go through, that makes it about 9 - including three to expansion 😬

Wondering if this may also explain the hold-up on the Jones trade. Could be tied to these.

Paywalled.

I can see the ones going to Port but not the other 4. What names are we looking at for a potential trade?

Apologies, was referring to the tweet itself rather than the attached article!

No other players linked to us as far as I know. Was merely speculating that perhaps picks that GC receive as part of this trade could be part of the Jones deal.

GC has already lost Sarah Perkins, Janet Baird, and Hannah Dunn (their captain) to expansion. Dunn went to Port so seems a few more Suns are following their skipper. Plus they’re potentially losing another to Brisbane too.

Yeah. I'd rather the Pick 19 they currently have, but if there other players potentially heading out the door, I wonder if they are part of our negotiations. We have today and tomorrow to get the Jones deal done, if it's happening at all.

So Gold Coast traded 4 players to Port Adelaide for Pick 34. If they use this for Jones, it would be #19 in the Vic draft.

However #19 and #34 are ahead of the Lions first pick, so it does not matter to Gold Coast which pick they give us so we should be pushing hard for #19 which is #10 in the Vic draft.

Gold Coast would be looking at Alana Gee with their first pick, but the second highest rated Qlder is the Gold Coast Academy captain so they may try to give us #49 or something which is unacceptable.

Lots to play out.

Worth noting national pick no.24 has been traded from Vic (Cats) to WA (Eagles). So the 25th and 28th national picks, held by Carlton, move up from 13th to 12th and from 15th to 14th in the Victorian draft.

Those picks could've immediately been pushed back to where they were due to the Huntington trade, but GWS avoided giving up their 1st pick (national no.20) to the Bulldogs and instead gave up 29 & 37.

Sweet.

So we have 8, 12, 14 as it stands.

If Gold Coast do the right thing and give up #19 for Jones as it matters little to them in their 2 team draft, we will have 8, 10, 12, 14. That's a decent draft hand with some good players and multiple positions in the mix.

Excuse my ignorance, but how did we get pick 8, given the draft concessions?

If GC give up the 19th national pick (not sure it won't just be for the pick 34 they got from Port for Yorston today), you will have 8 & 10 in the Vic draft but 12 and 14 would then be pushed back to 13 and 15.

Absolute joke of a comp
100% pushed and rushed from day dot from people with hidden agenda's
18 teams with enough real quality talent to fill 6 teams at the most

I reckon I'm going to treat this one like I treat a tv series thread on the Media board. If you don't like it, have nothing but bad things to say about it, stay out of the thread and let those who do like it discuss it in peace. Sorry.

With Gold Coast, 19 or 34, it means nothing to them. All that matters to them is either one gives them 1 in the Qld draft, ahead of the Lions. Giving us either pick changes nothing for them, but makes a huge difference to us. Their negotiation will be to offer us their 3rd pick while ours will be to go after that 1st pick if we have any commonsense whatsoever.

Good point. They should be desperate for good players given all they lost. We need to hold out on this one.

Our first pick is 17 but interstate clubs hold 9 picks prior to that selection. We have pick 8 in the Victorian pool.
Thanks. I thought the 'stains and hawks held the first 8 vic picks and couldn't trade them. Seems not.
