    Another Phantom
  • Post round 18 phantom draft if:

    Dogs beat Saints

    Pies beat Crows

    Lions beat Giants

    Richmond beat North

    Geelong beat Carlton

    Fremantle beat Sydney

    Hawthorn beat West Coast

    Dees beat Power

    Suns beat Bombers

    1. Brisbane: Will Ashcroft (Bid on best available)
    2. North Melbourne: Harry Sheezel (North are last in disposals, goals, and 2nd last in contested possessions so need a powerful goal kicking forward that can rotate through the midfield)
    3. West Coast: George Wardlaw (Obvious pick for West Coast who are last in contested possessions and 3rd last in disposals)
    4. Essendon: Elijah Hewett (Finally get the big bodied mid they have been looking for who can partner with Hobbs. Essendon are near last in contested possessions and tackles)
    5. Adelaide: Elijah Tsatas: (Have too many one dimensional mids and need a classy user through the midfield. Could have picked phillipou here)
    6. GWS: Anthony Munkara: (Bit of a surprising pick here but the giants don’t have many exciting and game changing players besides toby greene so Munkara brings class to a team with not many medium forwards. I think that munkara will have a big champs one he gets back into the team)
    7. Hawthorn: Jhye Clark: (Hawks are last in clearances so they get a clearance machine in clark who will partner with Ward in the future)
    8. Port Adelaide: Mattaes Phillipou: (Phillipou is from south australia and is different to their current mids due to his height and marking ability)
    9. St Kilda: Jedd Busslinger: (Saints are near the bottom in intercepts and only have Howard as a genuine key defender as battle and wilkie are 3rd man up type players)
    10. Gold Coast: Oliver Hollands: (The suns are last in uncontested possessions and disposal efficiency and Hollands is a quick ball winner that is classy with ball in hand. He will partner with his brother, Anderson, and Rowell which could become a the best midfield in a few years. this is also part of their plan to keep Elijah)
    11. Western Bulldogs: Aaron Cadman: (The dogs add another Aaron to the team who can allow Naughton to play higher up the ground as well as jamarra. Cadman is a big bear forward that can clunk pack marks and is different to the lead up forwards the dogs have)
    12. Richmond: Cameron Mckenzie: (Richmond are near last in contested possessions, clearances and tackles so they get the best available midfielder if they don’t trade this pick away for tim Taranto)
    13. Sydney: Isaac Keeler: (Swans need an athletic forward to partner with Logan Macdonald in the future as franklin is coming to the end)
    14. Carlton: Brayden George: (There isn’t a stat that the blues really struggle in except for tackling so they go with a George who will help them become the best scoring team in the afl next to mckay and Curnow)
    15. Collingwood: Matthew Jefferson: (Collingwood will likely pickup Mcstay so that covers there need for a key forward that can push up the ground and take marks. they have grundy, cox and Cameron in the ruck, dean and moore in the backline, but only Mihoceck and likely mcstay in the forward line so they will pick up a forward who is a good set shot and strong on the lead)
    16. Fremantle: Jackson Broadbent: (Like carlton, freo doesn’t have an obvious struggle in a particular stat so should just go best available here. If freo don’t get luke Jackson then they should pick up Broadbent who can be the athletic ruck which will allow darcy to rotate forward. this pick could be at the dees in a luke Jackson deal)
    17. Essendon: Alwyn Davey (The swans struggle with uncontested possessions and need a classy ball user in a midfield full of bulls like warner, sheldrick, mills and parker. Therefore the swans bid on Alwyn davey)
    18. Sydney: Lachlan Cowan: (Basically the Jordan Dawson replacement. Cowan wins the ball on the outside and can push up to a wing where he can thump the ball into the forward line to Keeler and Macdonald which could make the swans a very high scoring team)
    19. Geelong: Mitch Szybowski (The cats are another team that don’t struggle in any particular stat. they are in need of a joel Selwood replacement so they take szybowski who is a similar player to Selwood as they are both hard working and tough mids)
    20. Richmond: Kobe Ryan: (Richmond would have loved to get their hands on szybowski but will have to settle on Ryan who is a very tough midfielder that will make a good trio with Mackenzie and Bolton in future years)
    21. West Coast: Henry Huswaite: (The eagles just need to take the best available mid so will take Hustwaite who is a clearance machine. Hustwaite will combine well with Wardlaw as he adds height to their midfield which will propel the Eagles clearance and contested possession ability.
    22. Adelaide: Harry Lemmey (Adelaide take Lemmey who is a south Australian boy with a strong mark on the lead. Lemmey will combine with Fogarty and Thilthorpe in future years and is the Tex Walker replacement)
    23. GWS: Harry Barnett: (After not taking a tall with their first pick in last years and this years draft, GWS want the best available tall in Barnett who will be given time to develop in the VFL and can provide cover for Preuss when he gets suspended)
    24. Hawthorn: Adam D’Aloia: (Obvious pick for the hawks is D’Aloia who is a clearance specialist and is what the Hawks are crying out for. D’Aloia is different to their current mids as he has height and can roll forward. He will form a great future midfield for the hawks with Clark and Ward)
    25. Port Adelaide: Jakob Ryan: (The power would have snapped up D’Aloia if the hawks didn’t but Ryan is a tough half back who will create a really nice half back line with Byrne-Jones, Houston and Burton. Ryan is taller than Byrne-Jones and Houston and can take a good overhead mark as well as hit up targets down the ground)

Cal Twomey, ESPN, Rookie Me, Inner Sanctum draft rankings combined
  • The number in brackets is how their rankings added together so for example Ashcroft was ranked 1st 4 times so 1+1+1+1. For some players there is a little number next to their name which is how many times they were in someones top 30 if they werent in all 4. For example Brayden George who might have been ranked 19th, 22nd, and 17th but wasnt in ESPN's, he would be on 57 but this isnt fair to the others so he gets another 19 added on as 57 divided by 3 is 19 so he ends on 76.

    End of October Phantom Draft
  • Pick 1: GWS: Aaron Cadman (would bid on Ashcroft but want their man to get the 50k. comes from the countryside so can adjust in a new state)
Pick 2: Brisbane: Will Ashcroft (obvious bid)
Pick 3: North Melbourne: Harry Sheezel (gives much needed x-factor and doesnt have the go home factor)
Pick 4: North Melbourne: George Wardlaw (horne-francis replacement, can combine with LDU, Simpkin, and Phillips to form a scary midfield)
Pick 5: Essendon: Mattaes Phillipou (provides height and difference to a midfield with similar players and can push forward and rotate with stringer)
Pick 6: Gold Coast: Reuben Ginbey (gives the suns midfield height, pace and versatility. will combine well with anderson, miller and rowell)
Pick 7: Hawthorn: Elijah Tsatas (obvious pick for the hawks. gives their midfield pace and height. will combine well with ward, worpel and newcombe)
Pick 8: Geelong: Jhye Clark (another obvious pick here with the cats going for another local boy. ideal joel selwood replacement and got him for nothing)
Pick 9: West Coast: Cameron Mackenzie (mackenzie wont fall to their next pick so they take someone who can adjust to being interstate and provide class)
Pick 10: St Kilda: Bailey Humphrey (went hard for degoey but get a younger version of him. can push forward and win games in an 'exciting' saints team)
Pick 11: Carlton: Oliver Hollands (gives the blues a reliable rotation on the wing with blake acres. part of the plan to bring elijah home in a few years)
Pick 12: Western Bulldogs: Jedd Busslinger (liam jones is only a short term replacement and they think the eagles will take him with their next pick)
Pick 13: West Coast: Ed Allan (eagles have put a lot of work into him and the go home factor isnt a worry. provides height and speed to a boring midfield)
Pick 14: Melbourne: Matt Jefferson (shache isnt that big of a pickup and macdonald and brown are growing old)
Pick 15: Sydney: Lachlan Cowan (swans love their lightning half backs with good skills and long hair)
Pick 16: GWS: Elijah Hewett (after losing hopper and taranto, gws get a steal who will become a good player and trust that he wont go home)
Pick 17: Collingwood: Lewis Hayes (billy frampton is a risky option and moore has a struggling body so hayes can be a reliable option for them in the future)
Pick 18: Brisbane: Jaspa Fletcher (swans bid on a classy runner who would suit their team if he wasnt a father son)
Pick 19: Sydney: Oli Hotton (i honestly think that the swans are trying to get every player in their team to be quick and skillful. hotton is a perfect fit)
Pick 20: GWS: Jacob Konstanty (after losing bobby hill, they only have 2 reliable small forwards on their list. would combine well with bedford)

Pick 21: Essendon: Alwyn Davey Jnr (make the bombers lose their next few picks but would be a good fit to their team anyways)
Pick 22: GWS: Charlie Clarke (would make a perfect forward line with cadman, konstanty and bedford and is different to their other smalls)
Pick 23: West Coast: Darcy Jones (another small taken in the last few picks. after the departure of rioli and langdon, jones could be playing straight away)
Pick 24: Western Bulldogs: Josh Weddle (bulldogs get a slider who will allow busslinger to play loose. can lockdown any sized forward and is a great runner)
Pick 25: North Melbourne: Isaac Keeler (the roos finally pick a tall forward who can combine with larkey and comben. can play ruck and rotate with edwards)
Pick 26: Hawthorn: Bradyen George (hawks back in their medics to get his knee right. can form a great combination with brockman and butler up forward)
Pick 27: Collingwood: Henry Hustwaite (could be regarded as a slider but is the perfect pendlebury replacement and gives height and class to their midfield)
Pick 28: West Coast: Sam Gilbey (the eagles go for more homegrown talent who can rotate with ed allan and chesser on the half back and wing in years to come)
Pick 29: Collingwood: Mitch Szybowski (the pies pickup the future tom mitchell and taylor adams replacement. good backup for any midfield injuries)
Pick 30: St Kilda: Max Gruzewski (perfect pickup for the saints who will combine well with max king and can be thrown behind the ball if needed)
Pick 31: Carlton: Jaiden Magor (powerful forward who can mark and kick a bag. can have stints in the midfield and will combine well with fisher)
Pick 32: Fremantle: Jasper Scaife (bit of a bolter but the dockers can afford to take a risk need an athletic key forward who can combine with amiss in the future)
Pick 33: GWS: Harry Rowston (gws pickup rowston before any other club can. rowston can take marks and hit the scoreboard when forward)
Pick 34: St Kilda: Blake Drury (will be a reliable pickup. can tackle and kick goals. will be able to rotate with gresham as a small forward and midfielder)
Pick 35: Adelaide: Max Michellaney (port knock adelaide out of the draft. michellaney will be a solid defender but needs a couple of seasons to develop)
Pick 36: Port Adelaide: Harry Barnett (port struggled with rucks this year as finlayson was mainly their number 1 so barnett allows him to go forward again)
Pick 37: Melbourne: Coby Burgiel (after taking a tall with their first and losing bedford, dees take burgiel who will rotate through the midfield and forward with class)
Pick 38: Western Bulldogs: Luke Teal (doggies pick a skilful halfback with speed to burn who will take a few years to develop but can combine with bailey dale)
Pick 39: North Melbourne: Harry Lemmey (after taking 2 smalls with their top 3 picks, north take a highly rated key forward who has massive star potential)
Pick 40: Hawthorn: Anthony Munkara (was on track to being a top 10 pick. could be a star or bust but essendon wont be able to take him as he is one pick short)
Pick 41: Sydney: Adam D'Aloia (massive slider who could be the perfect josh kennedy replacement. clearance machine who can feed it out to the swans runners)
