Interesting. Amon's age actually affects how he plays since his game is based on pace. You can't expect him to be shooting the lights out in five years time at 33 (only Boomer Harvey had that sort of longevity with his athleticism). But what if we were talking about prime Max Gawn/Tom Hawkins/Josh J. Kennedy/Todd Goldstein etc? Those guys still had either hundreds of goals left in them at that age or were just coming into their prime as dominant rucks. You'd be spewing to lose that amount of compensation you'd get for the big guys just because they're one year older.

If free agency compensation is based on the net result of free agents gained and lost during the trade period, don't they have to wait until it's finished before handing out picks?

"Draft picks are allocated to clubs based on the net total points for free agents lost and gained during the transfer period."

Can't put it all down to luck, though. Good leadership, fitness, players sticking with the game plan, good match-day coaching, etc
