I was also wondering which clubs would be in the frame, need a decent combination of not too a far of a slide in this draft and also a reasonably safe bet for next year's future first.

-Best scenario the Hawks, almost guaranteed a top 3 pick next year, but like you said, unlikely they'd bite.
-* would be ok, only sliding one pick this year, another F1 would more than make up for that, but probably unlikely they'd give up their F1 for a one spot jump unless they were desperate.
-GC would be good, two spot drop for another F1, even if they improve, still likely to be top 10 next year, not sure they'd be keen, shame our blue and white stripes are vertical not horizontal!
-Saints are probably the only other one, as you said, they know the buy in, maybe they could try and move Clark to the Rookie list and we could Greenwood him!

Not sure we'd want to slide too much further this year and the F1s get progressively more likely to be outside the top 10 with other clubs. Gut feel is pretty unlikely we'll get a club desperate enough to make us an offer we can't refuse, so we'll probably take both our early picks, which certainly isn't a bad thing!
Damn forgot to use * for * shame on me. Hadn't thought about The Suns but you're right it seems like it's between them and the Saints. Agree, gut feel is it doesn't happen, more than happy to use picks 2 and 3.

Going through the delisted players list there isn't a great deal of talent there, but for a needs basis the following could appeal for a variety of reasons:

Ely Smith - Bris, young midfielder
Liam Stocker - Carlton, young half back/mid.
Zane Williams - Geelong, small forward.
Jake Stein - GWS, Athletic key defender
Connor Downie - Hawthorn, hard running winger
Jackson Callow - Hawthorn, key forward

So I'm a bit interested in the sentiment here that Brady Rawlings is a kind of infantile list manager, ready to give away the lollies to anyone who asks.

He's had two drafts to work with, his third coming up, having been prohibited by WC from participating in the 2019 draft (I assume his exclusion from that draft is why we traded out our first that year, so that Rawlings had more to work with in 2020).

As below, if you look at the 2020-21 drafts (incl. rookie and MSD), what you find is probably what you'd expect - it's a bit early to call. The 2020 rookie draft was a bust across the board, and Charlie Ham as the 2nd MSD is hard to understand too. On the other hand, shifting Polec to the rookie list was clearly sensible list management, and Dawson as the 2021 MSD made sense from a needs perspective. For the main drafts, there's no outright busts at the minute, except of course JHF but the compo is okay and you can't say Rawlings is to 'blame' for that situation.

Where there's valid criticism is the lack of structural balance - no KPF or KPP of any kind in the main drafts, only Edwards (more ruck forward than genuine KPF) and Dawson in the MSDs. So that's a possible line of genuine criticism - but it hasn't involved Brady "doing something stupid" with other clubs, which has been a pretty prominent theme in the last little while.

The assessment of Rawlings as a list manager will depend on the progress of Phillips, Powell, Goater, Bergman and Curtis, and to a lesser extent Edwards and Dawson, as well obviously as how we go this draft. Until then, I think we can ease up on the Rawlings as a whipping boy

This is excellent. Brady certainly deserves more credit than the shit that he's copping.

How quickly we forget the Bryce Lewis / Cam Joyce era very conservative approach to trading players and overall some pretty underwhelming draft selections.

I'd be keeping an eye on a couple of players to see if they get delisted or not too. Looking purely for mature depth in the small forward position players like Sydney Stack or Ben Ronke could play a role in our side.

I'm sure this won't be popular but I don't mind Callum Brown as a pressure small forward to add depth to an are we are very light in, especially if Spicer and Mahony don't come on and are delisted at the end of the year.

The years we finish bottom we cant even use the PSD to our advantage.

Oh I don't know as I use a program. So bench 12x 45kg, 10x 50 kg then 2x8x 55-60kg.
Then other chest exercises as well.

Currently 83kg's and my aim was only to get to 85kg, but I think I'm going to pass that. I will though see at some point how much I can lift in a single rep.

I am 54 fyi lol

That's very impressive. 60kg dumbells are pretty hard to get off the rack.

I wouldn’t be against that, he has genuine goal sense and we don’t have any small forwards with speed.

The best thing about Kingy is that he's 100% emotionally invested in the club. The worst thing about Kingy is he's 100% emotionally invested in the club.

He's not looking at this objectively far too emotional to be rational. At best our trade period was an A at worst a B-.

We had no babies in our team when King played, it's hard for him accept what's going on at the moment.

2,3,40,43 and cooper is 5 list places.
Leaving us two for DFA's and SPP period.
I hope we use the SPP. Having a few blokes train with us over the summer and compete for the last couple of list spots is excellent cover if we get a long term injury at some stage this summer.
I'm pretty happy with that outcome.
Pardon my ignorance, but what's the SPP? Sam Powell Pepper period?

But callow was supposed to be a superstar...

That's very impressive TAO, I know this is crossing over into the Health & Fitness thread but I'm pleased to hear you're looking after yourself.

Yeah cheers, I'm too vain to let myself go if I'm honest

oh well.

Yes I wish and I see the 50kg ones and think crikey.

Why is there chatter from * supporters that BMAC will be joining them next year?

Was this the guy on SEN this morning? I think that was some residue of them thinking they'd get Harry McKay and being a brain moran.

Let's be honest though we should all be blaming Carey for all his romping around he could have at least knocked up a few more birds and have a few father sons running around. Lazy prick.
We don't have 900 list spots available.

I agree with your assessment. We got rid of a toxic element from our list. Sure we lost some value but JHF was going to be even less value next year through his unprofessionalism or potentially continue the sookie behaviour at Port and be a failure there. I.e. not going into a ice bath for 15 minutes isn't a North specific issue, it's an attitude issue.
