Hayes is going to struggle for a spot with Battle forward if he can ruck. Sharman too.

Not a bad problem to have.

I rate al three - Hayes, Battle and Sharman. All seem to have footy awareness with lots of potential upside, especially Sharman who I believe can be a gun if he has a good run at it. (yep I khow Gringo that is the point you are making!)

This "move Battle forward because we have Cordy" idea has got me *ed. After moving Battle around - wing, forward, back, etc
we finally let him settle into a position at half back this year and he played decent football. If its not broke, don't fix it. Leave him
down back.

Apparently we've got our eye on him as our first ruck/trainee receptionist, want to keep building his adaptability

I'd still have Hayes off the bench. He's an excellent utility to have. Sharman may struggle, but that's OK. No problem having him smash the door down in the 2s.

He is still 2 years younger than battle and 4 years younger than Hayes. Not too mention a fair bit lighter.

Nothing wrong with depth though!

Something like

Paton, Cordy, Wilkie
Coffield, Howard, Sinclair

Wood, Crouch, McKenzie
Marshall, Steele, Windhager

Membrey, Battle, Billings
Higgins, King, Butler

Hayes, Ross, Owens, NWM

Emg: Sharman, Bytel, Webster, Bryrnes

***I've left out Greshem due to injury

Terrible move to unsettle Battle again. We had him forward, wing, then back, finally settled him and he was playing good football.
Reason he was considering leaving is because he was unsettled and unhappy.

We risk unsettling him again if he doesn't want to move forward.

Didn't see this before my post, but agree completely

I wasn't suggesting it and agree but given Cordy isn't a break glass in case of emergency trade then that's what I fear they have planned.

I’m pretty sure the week after he re-signed, Ratten used him as a swig man and played him forward lol.

If it happens again next year, the guy should just walk.

None of us know what goes on behind the scenes.

Battle was drafted as a forward. What if he wants to have a go at it again, having matured, strengthened and having received a backman’s education?

Not saying he does, but unless we know he doesn’t, we shouldn’t make assumptions regarding him needing to leave.

I’ve always liked Haynes as a player.
He knows L. Hayes.
As a seasoned professional why not train him as a mid for next season if we get him.
We are pretty set for HBF’ers or we flip 35 into that role.

This place is gonna melt when the last 3 days see the usual rush of last minute deals and we're not part of any of it lol
Don't know why. Unless it's for better draft position, the saints probably aren't going to be in play.

That's been the message straight out of HQ since the get go.

2023 Rd 1 for me looks like this, assuming Gresh and Hayes are available

B: Webster Howard Wilkie
HB: Sinclair Cordy Battle
C: Hill Crouch Mckenzie
HF: Gresh Hayes Membrey
F: Butler King Higgins

FOL: Marshall Steele Windhager

Int: Owens, Ross, Clarke, Billings

Emg: Campbell, Sharman, Jones, Paton

Tough on some. Couldn’t fit Wood and Nas in.

I fear it's not Battle that will lose his spot it will be Paton who was starting to find his best form again.

Confident this will be the back six. Howard to play a Tom Stewart role which will be less about one on ones and more intercepting.

Wilkie Cordy Howard
Coffield Battle Sinclair

Totally agree it would be a terrible move. Leave Battle at CHB, Howard at FB, if Cordy can justify a starting position play. him.on the 2nd tall.

I would be moving Wilkie to a half back flank and free him up as an interceptor. Then Coffield and Webster to duel out for the remaining back pocket position.

If we get Haynes then he would take Cordy's spot.

Unless it is Hunter for a top 10, or the mythical 15 and Haynes deal

They wanted to trade both firsts + extra future picks.
Clubs can't trade out other future picks if their future first is traded already (or part of the trade).
Right
Well that makes sense

Because knocking them back for a first and a future first doesnt
No one said anything about more picks as well

Well hasnt that thrown a spanner in the works

Should be a good 3 days coming up
