I can't see the Haynes or Whitfield deals happening.

It's one thing to give away Bowes who was an overpaid plodder but those GWS guys are guns. If you could honestly get Haynes and a pick to just stump up his cash for two years then surely it's a no-brainer. We know we have the cash from missing De Goey.

Terrible move to unsettle Battle again. We had him forward, wing, then back, finally settled him and he was playing good football.
Reason he was considering leaving is because he was unsettled and unhappy.

We risk unsettling him again if he doesn't want to move forward.
100% and effects his development
We seem to have been playing players out of position for the best part of a decade

I wasn't suggesting it and agree but given Cordy isn't a break glass in case of emergency trade then that's what I fear they have planned.
Cordy is exactly a break glass in case of emergency trade. He is not better than Wilkie Howard or Battle if he plays it will be because one of them is out or our opposition are particularly tall. He gives us flexibility we didn't have but he will have his work cut out pushing out any of the incumbents. If he does win a permanent spot in the backline then he will have exceeded my expectations.

I guess it is possible they want to play all four and have Wilkie and Battle playing a looser intercept role but that seems a little top heavy and slow still could work so it might be Jimmy who makes way.

But Battle is a backman the experiments forward and wing failed I doubt we are going to revist that.

Sharman seems to be the new swingman project but I think his best role if we can get him fit and strong enough is that lead up link man like Tom Lynch (the Adelaide version). He is one of the best decision makers and users in the team when he gets his hands on it.

Hayes is the ruck chop out for Marshall plays Forward and does the grunt work to protect King and make his man accountable if he drops off to double team King. He is smart enough to make those decisions.

It would be great to have another genuine key target beside King like Geelong and Carlton have but if it is some pale imitation like Wiedeman I prefer to stick with what we have and play with the structure or ball movement to make it work.

For a supposed "spud", Zaine Cordy seems to making quite a few starting 22 teams.

Will help us out a lot if he can actually fill the role of a genuine 2nd tall defensive player.

I have no problem with Cordy, just doesn't make sense as an appointment when we are stacked with third tall defenders and good ones are playing at Sandy. Hopefully he's good to justify the appointment but he means Battle, Wilkie and Highmore types have to step out of the side and we were training Sharman there this year as well. You can probably only play three of Howard, Wilkie, Battle, Highmore and Cordy. If Sharman gos back to the forwards and Battle also Hayes misses out on a spot.

Perhaps Cordy goes forward as a ruck/forward?
Forward maybe, not ruck!!!

I wonder if we are still looking at Kyle Hartigan as a DFA? At 31y.o, probably not.

He's not in my 22 but he will be in the clubs best 22 and i daresay that is why we are putting him in.

Doesn't matter how much he spuds it up, he will play.

I'm not sure where people have got the idea that he's an accountable KPD, he's a third tall defender type. If Joyce couldn't handle the big forwards I don't think Cordy will.

It's got to be to free Battle or something.

Dougal Howard 199cm 95Kg
Nathan Brown 196cm 99kg
Darragh Joyce 195 cm 96kg
Josh Battle 193 cm 89kg
Zaine Cordy 195 cm 92 kg.

Nathan Brown was not getting his lunch from plugger.

Sam Day 197, 102kg.

Oscar Adams 198, 83kg ( possibly at the time of drafting ).
Tom Highmore 193, 86kg
Sharman 193, 86kg
Wilkie, 191, 87Kg
Hayes 194, 92Kg.

Hunter shouldn't get lonely in the Gym.
( Hunter Clark, 186, 80kg , Similar to Dan, or Billings, around 6 or more less than Ross, Crouch, Steele ).

Geelong offered Cordy 2 years.

They always go after spuds.

Would like Clark at 83kg, that was Lenny Hayes, playing weight.
Our Nathan Brown, was 195cm-101kg
Battle is 193cm-92kg, would like him to put on 4kg- Rooeys playing weight.

Also as we have no other genuine full back, Cordys spot is safe no matter what.

Howard is our Full Back and I don't see that changing - this idea that he can become some intercepting Tom Stewart type if freed from Full Back is fantasy. He has only ever wanted to play shut down, he left Port to do this, he never tries to mark the ball if he was in a one on one contest with Caleb Daniel he would still choose to punch rather than take the mark. Frustrates me every time I watch him but Peter Knights he is not.

Battle doesn't need more weight
He is strong enough and doesn't need to lose any mobility
