Treacy love the kid monster is recovering from injury.Treacy ! we are forgetting Treacy !![]()
Excluding maybe two or three games, Treacy has already shown he’s a better forward than Cox imo.
People acting like that 4 goal game against Adelaide was every week. He’s a much much better defender.
Club is confident he will be back beginning of Feb!! Get hyped for my boy to claim more victims.Treacy love the kid monster is recovering from injury.

It would be hard to throw those players all over the ground considering the interchange limits right? Generally someone's got to come off as part of a swing unless you're just switching onfield spots.I'm proposing a team balance shift. I like Chapman and Logue in the team. Logue was actually our equal quickest player with Colyer in terms of maximum speed last season. While Chapman is also very, very quick so they can both play on smalls as well as talls. I also really like Walker in the team too as he also provides some great speed. To make that work we can play Clark about 40% of game time on the wing, Cox 30% up forward, Young 20% onball and Logue a bit as a wildcard for a small part of the game all over the ground. That way we can play Ryan, Walker, Cox, Young, Logue, Chapman, A.Pearce and Clark all in the team while rotating one defender off the bench. I like the speed and the flexibility that gives us.

Logue could be a fit version of Stuart DewI really hope they give him a shot there in preseason games at least ad see how he goes.

They could swap after a goal was scored or in general play. Essentially I'm playing 7 defenders with one on the bench and then rotating players on the field so that one of the 8 players I named is not playing in defence. It would be hard to throw those players all over the ground considering the interchange limits right? Generally someone's got to come off as part of a swing unless you're just switching onfield spots.
The way I remember Coxy early on in his career in the forward line, he was very hesitant.Josh Treacy and Brennan Cox AFL Stats Comparison

Remember Cox played forward.
Not sure that their is a big difference.
Cox had a 4.5 goal involvement verse Tracey 3.2
Hughes just got a 3 year deal didn't he? So if you think he is next to be delisted it emphasises my point that the guys we just delisted (and who no other club grabbed) are not AFL standard. And until he isn't, Wilson is best 22, and was always ahead of Duma and Watson.Agree on 1. Although plenty weren’t seeing it that way on Duman for a long time.
Not sure of the point being made in 2 - with list sizes of early to mid 40’s, every position has players that are B22 and others that are developing or there for depth. Of those players listed I think Hughes and Wilson will be the next to fall.
Re 3, I don’t personally think O’Driscoll was drafted as a HBFer - his disposal is too iffy. To get him started and developing at senior level they have played him at HBF for Peel. It’s sounding like he starting to impact now, but more as a crash and bash mid. Conversely Walker and Clark should play a lot of AFL minutes at HBF over the next three years.

Sturt does pretty well in a marking contest despite his frame. He’s a natural in a marking contest.
I’ve said it before Amiss will play games this year if injuries don’t effect his season. I’m not expecting him be best 22 or anything- that’s unrealistic for a first year tall. Those saying with confidence he won’t play this season or even that it’s unlikely he’ll play are completely full of sh** though imo.
Those other 6 played
Hamling 0
Pearce 10
Logue 16
Taberner 16
Lobb 13
Treacy 15
games in 2021. And all were injury based apart from Treacy being young and raw.
When we want to keep a structure with 3 talls on either end (and we should, unless weather or opposition suggest something else), Cox as swingman is very handy.

Thought you guys would be interested in this video. A bit of Brodie/Darcy/Meek chemistry from under 18 Vic Country days.
I recall Brodie and Darcy having really good chemistry at clearances during that under 18 carnival. Exciting for you guys if they can get that going again.
I live on the coast so keep a close eye on the Suns and was disappointed at the way we treated Brodie and think if allowed to play his stoppage beast type role he will flourish. All the best to him and freo for the season.

.I compared when both players were 19.The stats for Cox are from his second or third season at AFL level.
I was not convinced of Cox as a forward at the time and I’m sorry but two seasons of him playing good football in defence does not convince me he’d make a good forward at AFL level.
I was much more impressed by Treacy as a forward than I ever was with Cox. That’s my opinion and I’m sticking with it until Cox proves me otherwise. In other words if you’re trying to convince me before Round One you’re not going to have much luck.
I think if you are on an AFL list you’re a good chance of getting a game this year. I think the AFL will take the BigBash approach and just play on irrespective of how many players clubs lose to Covid each week.

You go with a project player or a mature age player who could help straight away to replace Valente? Most clubs use over 36 players in a season. We have 42.
Covid only makes it more likely he’ll play but he was a very likely to play a few games anyway imo.

Let’s agree on the love for Treacy, he is a beautiful monster murderer. My bad mate. Regardless stats never really was the point of my argument.
I saw a natural forward when I watched Josh Treacy. When I watched Brennan Cox I did not.
He’s a bloody good footballer. He won’t be useless as a forward, but like Luke McPharlin he’s a much much better defender.
It’s not just Meek being better than Lobb, it could be that Meek ruck and Darcy fwd/ruck is better than Darcy ruck and Lobb fwd/ruck.
I remember watching Meek’s draft high lights before he was drafted and he struck as a player that had huge scope. Gradual improvements are putting him on a regular good to above average ruck trajectory. It just doesn’t seem so impressive when Darcy has had obvious star potential since his debut. Either way those 2 give each other a great training opponent in the preseason.
I am very glad to see Cox tried forward. I agree with you that there was a lot about his play in 2017 and 2018 as a forward that was good. I see him as having unusual traits for a big bloke. He has great spatial awareness, an excellent sidestep and is creative, thus he had good numbers as a forward for goal assists and score involvements. He is also a strong contested mark, rarely beaten in the air. His goal kicking yips were only 2017.Let’s agree on the love for Treacy, he is a beautiful monster murderer.
What we are disagreeing on Cox as a forward.
His stats as a young key forward is good as anybody star forward at the same age.
Cox leading pattern were excellent, marking very good and field kicking was awesome. His only issue was he got the yips in front of goal.
If we can get more experience into Cox and he's actually decent in the forwardline our team will be flipping set. Having a swingman like that is Invaluable.Let’s agree on the love for Treacy, he is a beautiful monster murderer.
