Pretty close to what I'd guess too. Would hope by then Ford, Curtis and maybe Perez have forced their way in though.

No way is Tasmania getting a team in 2024 so there won't be a comp pick for Tarryn Thomas at that time. But more to the point, we won't ever be given a comp pick for Tarryn Thomas because he will play his career out at NMFC.

I hope so, but I think it will be hard to push back against the powers of the AFL.

This thread was just an elaborate ruse to insert the TT to Tasmania troll. OP can get f’ed.
Love your passion, year of the roo. Nope, I'm not a troll, I'm not that clever. I'm a passionate NMFC supporter/member for 40 years. Would love to build some momentum with our supporter base into keeping him. Don't want to get blindsided by the AFL. Alongside Cunners, TT is my favourite player and would love to keep him. My focus for the thread is to look forward as a club wonder/discuss what will happen in the years to come.

You don't think the idea that we should retain him has occurred to the club, or the fanbase?
Sure I do. So should we just shut up about it? The focus of the thread was to start a discussion on our future teams over the years and the regeneration of the list. Who will be our next champ? Who will not cut it? etc. So post your team including TT. Would love your thoughts.

2024 team

B: Spicer - McKay - 2022 Rd1 KPD
HB: Goater - Corr - McDonald
C: Simpkin - LDU - Perez
HF: Zurharr - Comben - Ford
F: Curtis - Larkey - Stephenson
FOLL: Xerri - JHF - Thomas
INT: CCJ - Taylor - Phillips - Powell

EMERG: Edwards - Bergman - Mahony - Atu

The 2023+ prime core. All proven or very likely talents who must be retained.
  • Larkey
  • JHF
  • Thomas
  • Zurhaar
  • Powell
  • LDU
  • Curtis
  • Comben (the exception in this group - has little to no demonstrated senior form but has enough attributes to get into this group)
  • Ford
  • McKay
The senior core. These guys must be retained for experience, structure and/or leadership.
  • Anderson
  • Cunnington (subject to his vocational choices)
  • Goldstein
  • Corr
  • Hall
The rest of the current list are in one of these categories:
  • Senior players whose time is approaching
  • Unproven young players
  • Role players who would be assessed against list needs and incomings/outgoings (eg Scott)
  • Players who do not have a role in the future team
  • Jaidyn - sits in a category of his own. On talent should be in the prime group, but does he really want it?

Unreal that Cunners and Goldie are the only Syd Barker recipients in this entire list.

Who we have; Zurhaar, Larkey, LDU, TT, Stephenson, McKay, Simpkin, Corr, Anderson, Goldstein, McDonald, JFH, Hall and Cunners (14)

Then we hope that these come on; Comben, Goater, Bergman, Phillips, Scott, Perez, Edwards, Young, Curtis , Ford, Powell, Spicer,CCJ and Bonars. (14)

So give us 28 in total, I may have missed one or two.

So no;
Walkersx2
Turner
Atu
Kyron
Lazzaro
Mahony
Taylor
Polec
Xerri
Lynch
Archer.

Realise we won't move that many. Well we may over a two year period. We've a heck of a lot riding on hope more than a sure thing.

Oh well

Unpopular opinion I know, but I just don't know if he sits in the elite rank relative to our list.
Round 1 aside, hes been extremely disappointing.
I feel the fact he plays alongside Young, Turner, Walker, Hayden and Atu that he doesn't look as bad.

Sorry to hear about your covid, hope its not too bad and you recover quickly! That said, you must have a fair bit of time on your hands, suggest you go watch the 12 minute "mini" vfl match on the website vs Sandy. Think you might change your mind on McGuinness very quickly.
Also, no room for Bailey Scott? Has been building nicely and putting together a very good season in defence.
