Neither are absolute elite leaders and have on field deficiencies.

It's a good route to take pressure off both of them. Perhaps Simpkin and mcdonald to step aside in 3 or 4 years for someone like will Phil, or they might grow into the role with aplomb. Really positive choice and several options come from it

In the short term, with a hard arse micro manager like clarko as coach, dual captaincy is perfect. And they both deserve it.
