Look at it another way.

Would you trade two number 1 draft picks in consecutive drafts, for a number 2 draft pick and a number 3 draft pick, just to get an extra pick at 15 in return?

Oh, and we also had to throw in a future third rounder to sweeten the deal

We would have had Sheezle or Wardlaw regardless. Port Adelaide walked away in that deal getting everything they wanted and are riding the top of the table from our generosity right now.

Originally it was being discussed that we would give up our number 1 pick and JHF and we would be getting pick 2 and 3, and then another first rounder and a player - to make up for losing out two number 1 picks.

The player disappeared from the deal and we ended up having to give a pick to Poort, to get their first rounder coming back to us.

We might have gotten some very good players, but on a picks basis we didn’t get what two first rounders are worth in the trade. Remember, Adelaide were offering us 3 1st rounders for JHFs pick in his draft year before he’d played a game. That’s what we should have gotten from Poort last year.

Adelaide’s offer included us giving them our second round pick. Which was pick 19.

Pretty gross that Port said no to Jase going in The Big Freeze.

Was going to go in a North jumper ... into the ice bath.

No sledge on Jase, he was up for it and so were North. I mean, it's for MND and Neale Daniher.

But Port Sadelaide said no. Same as the beer thing.

Just pathetic.
Imagine believing this.

The double whammy - the team we are barracking for to do well (us) is a lot worse than we hoped.
The team we’re barracking against is exceeding all expectations.

Like, we’ve abandoned any expectations of enjoying a win - now we can’t even hope for a team to lose and get any satisfaction from football.

It's funny reading Poort supporters talk about JHF's thought process and how they don't think he has any regrets about leaving North.

Personally, i think they give him too much credit. Because we all know he can't string a thought that complex together.

The reason he left school to work at a milk company was because they didn't require him to count past 6.

It's also why he refused to get in the ice-bath. Adams said he needed to stay in for 20 secs and that mythical number angered Jason.

🤣Is that a depiction all our reactions each week as Port inexorably torture us?

False dawns:think:
With references like that I reckon you and mate Bill Collins should get together and watch re runs of Ronald Reagan flix.
You’d know about re-runs - all those top 4 finishes have ended well for you in the past.
Even got belted in a home prelim

Don’t choke…………… again.

Looking at ports fixture is so depressing. Can't see them dropping many games up to finals so they'll easily make top 4. There pick after academy picks will be wise worse then what our 2nd rounder would have been

Oh a wonderful actor was Ronald Rayguns. I saw him act a scene as an elderly gentlemen, where he gets shot on the streets. My gosh it was very realistic.

I did take a look on your board today, was funny reading.

Some good stuff and a sense of being on the cusp of greatness that will have the football world talking for years.

I like it

The adelaide deal wasn't three first rounders, because they wanted our second back which was pick 19.

It was essentially pick 5 and pick 6 for JHF, which is okay, but not amazing.

Instead we're getting pick #3 and pick ~16. not -that- different.

Giving up pick #1 when we knew it was going to be Cadman and didn't rate him top 3 is immaterial. Wardlaw and Sheezle were our #1 and #2 (ignoring ashcroft).

I would take the deal as it stands, Wardlaw and #17 or whatever it'll be for a JHF who doesn't want to be there and is a toxic bloke around the club. I would even throw in the third round sweetener.

Good teams play like Port are in July and August, not May and June.

They're one Zak Butters ankle trapped in a tackle away from a second half of the season collapse.

Maybe they do power through and not lose another game.

Far more likely they s**t the bed, miss top four, and go out first week of the finals.

Probably to Essendon, like the weak pretenders they are.

Interesting hypothetical there SBTDOTB

Would you rather * continue their streak or the hummers drop an elimination final to them?

Given there'd be direct material benefit to us, I'd take the Scum breaking their streak against the Barrel Boys

They're due for a loss a bit like the Pies on Monday. Danger, Duncan and Holmes back is huge for Cats but tough to win over there.
Yea I reckon they lose tonight. Not that it matters that much. I was one of the most optimistic (or pessimistic if you like) amongst this board about their ladder position this year and they've well and truly outdone my expectations

Yeah they look top 4 but its pretty hard to stay up the whole season so they might slide back a little even though they have a fair few games at AO.
They play some sides desperate to make the eight and they might move into management of players mode at some point before finals.
