That’s not where Wilson usually plays though, he just played wing because there were so many quality half forwards and midfielders in the team.
Wilson has been an absolute standout this year and has great attributes, I don’t mind the Connor Rozee comparisons that have been made.

Wilson was good enough that I just assumed that was one of his usual positions, I think McKercher is normally an inside mid too yes? Lorenz plays mostly inside but was forced to sweep around the half forward line which really didn't seem to suit him but I guess thats what comes with being amongst the best talents in the nation all at once.

I wouldn't say my knowledge of each player in this draft is overly in depth at the moment outside of the usual suspects like Reid, Watson, Walter etc but some of the players that wrung below look really good. Will Patton another who looked a really good player upon first sight for me.

I believe the Under 18s team will be facing off against our VFL boys next in a few weeks, would be good to go down and see them in action up close. Hopefully with some better weather and a more open game.

Top 20 picks in 2023 draft cohort are very good young footballers , comparable to 2018, perhaps superior. The top 10 are real rippers, more information will be available as the season rolls on, expect the skeptics to vanish gradually as we approach the draft , as per every season.

I don’t think I am prone to overstating, this is what I say, this year.

Reid is the most hyped pre-draft player in memory and many have tried to find chinks in his armour, without success.

Curtin is a generational key defender. Clubland is trying to make him a forward ATM, Not sure why.

Nick “The Wizard” Watson is nit much taller than you but has a mountain of admirers with the performance to match.

Ashton Moir, genuine two sided savant. Forward first but plenty of “utility” capability.

Darcy Wilson has plenty of mentions above. Was regarded as good, now reports suggesting great.

Jed Walter is northern academy, but a gun key forward who will not move from top 10, possibly 5.

Caddy (3rd Tall Forward), Duursma (Forward/Mid), Tholstrup (Forward/utility), Philactides (Saad quality), Delean (x-factor small/medium forward), McKercher (out/in mid), Edwards (displaced high rated WA ruck last year and still growing, ie not early maturer 207cm+), Will Patton (prolific 3rd tall/undersized KPD), Hardeman, McAuliffe, on and on, big Reid and Read…Plenty more to add from AFL Academy list, with a wide variety of positions on offer.

There is a young Van Rooyen in WA just announced himself kicking goals. Freijah as above. I have misses some. It goes on and on.

I am mindful of the Lemmey and Scully 1 and 2 rating early last year who fell to the forties and beyond. There will be plenty of rating movements, but talent and substance abounds

I’m in the same boat. Time short (for a change). I like McKercher’s profile a lot.

I am struggling to tie down our greatest need. The development and soundness of a couple of players over the season will have a say, as will the future if TDK (have been a big fan, but has not come on as expected, cashing in not as distasteful as once was)

This draft has been touted as a superdraft for multiple years now, it's not just one of those old classics, they've known this crop is freakish for years now.

It's very similar to the 2018 draft where it was quite obvious that players like Rankine, the King twins etc were going to be absolute guns from a few years out. This year it's Reid, Watson, Moir, A Reid, Duursma etc who were incredible last year and outshone many of the top draft talents we're seeing performing in the AFL now.

9 times out of 10 we get 'Next year is a stronger draft than this year'.

This seems to be a clear exception to the rule. Pretty unanimous that this year has a bumper crop of elite talent.

There are possibilities. Bulldogs have a Father/Son KPP named Croft who has the scope to be a first rounder. Quite intriguing, their list management has had them short of KPP for a decade. Now they trade in some “interesting” talls while they have JUH and Darcy as “gifts” with Croft coming. Would love him to elevate dramatically.

If anyone makes it known they have a first rounder on the market, they will be swamped with offers. As it sits, we have no second or third rounders, so only one bite of the cake. We could do with three…

It's pretty crap to be us, having traded our way out of most of it and arguably having a first pick too low to get the player we most need. Moir would be the optimum player to target but should be gone in the top 5.
