Elsewhere I tipped that Footscray will not make the 8 and that Bevo may not survive the season. Their result was no surprise.

Brisbane will be ok and if there is something as a helpful loss then that was one. I also tipped Port to make 8 and challenge top 4. They are a good team.

Freo will improve as they adjust to best 22 changes. Looked to me that they needed the run.

Times have changed though. If AFL are serious about head injuries they shouldve gone Bud 2-3 but Pickett 4-5 and same thereabouts with Shane McAdam.

If the AFL is still going to care a little bit but not fully commit on head injuries then yeah 1 is about right

Yeah Buddy should have got 2 minimum. Goes past the ball with intent, was ****ing stupid. He knew what he was doing and he tried earlier in the game and was just lucky his elbow didn't make contact. AFL being a complete joke about head injuries.

Im not a lawyer but there are probably legal reasons why its outcome based. Eg drink driving if you get caught with a breath test vs if you actually hit someone / get into an accident.

Imo most things outside afl are also outcome based so cant just put full blame on afl

Not too sure on what part of my post you're responding to with this.

Nah. AFL make the rules. They can write them how they like. If they want to make it all about the action not the outcome then they can do that.

Yes mate, but I don't really give a shit about how much of a tough campaigner you were in the 70s.

For someone that claims they have me on ignore you sure do feel the need to take a pop at a high number of my posts.

And they have, there's a potential for harm clause in the grading they can use to upgrade the penalties for head high hits.

Not a pot , just asking . Thank you for the mate . You are on ignore ,but it still comes up , that's the flaw in the system .
Tough campaigner , i don't think so . Just someone that's seen a few eras of footy

That rat King on SEN just said it's a joke Buddy got 1 , should start at 3 , he says just so happens we play Hawthorn and he won't be needed . Seriously hate this henry the 3rd
What did King say Pickett should have got if Buddy deserved 3?

Something tells me Freo will be a late bloomer this season.
Just can't see it, their draw gets very tough - hardest double ups in my opinion and I don't think they would have factored in a loss yesterday. Might only be round one but that puts them very much on the back foot as they really need to get wins away from Perth.

Their draw goes from soft to diamond though, good luck to them if they start slow.
Yep

Yep
I think they'll regret trading in Jackson. A lot of flash in the middle when they really needed a forward. Lobb's 35 will look really good as the season progresses.

And with the concussion lawsuit that hit the news last week, it's very surprising the AFL didn't come down on Bud and Pickett harder. Both probably should've got an extra week.

They need to look hard at the legal framework around their head protection rules, actions, coach in and penalties.
For instance, is a free kick sufficient penalty for high contact?
Should a tackle at shoulder level be allowable or brought down to the waist?
They still have their heads in the sand.

The bloke Buddy got had no damage and would've come back on except for the game ending . Smith for Bulldogs had a bruised jaw

No longer at that stage. The AFL needs to start charging for the action, not the outcome. They've got the chance to stamp things like this out before we have a player who doesn't wake up from one of these hits.
