No, I wasn't being smart about the spelling.......I was curious about the fact that he remains injured, and wanted to be sure I wasn't confusing him with someone else.

Hopefully it doesn't mean his recovery has stalled.

Simon Lloyd on Clark:

“Jhye Clark has always been a couple of weeks behind Cam Guthrie in his reconditioning. With it being the last VFL game this week, unfortunately Jhye won’t play again this year.

“But it’s a credit to Jhye, he’s been working with Mark Corrigan on the opposition week-in, week-out, and he’s been building his strength and he’s running really well. So exciting for Jhye what the future holds, but our focus for Jhye Clark at the moment is focusing on getting him right for the beginning of pre-season.”

Thanks!

Edit: I didn't realise it was the last game

Club must have read my post - injury report is out:

  • Cam Guth to play this week - yet to determine what level
  • Simpson will play VFL this week
  • Hawkins will complete full training tomorrow, decision to be made re availability v St K
  • Stanley will train tomorrow, no decision yet re availability v St K
  • Rohan ruled out with minor hamstring injury - will 'potentially miss weeks after that'
  • Blicavs 'still a couple of weeks away'
  • Willis and Clarke seasons are over; won't play VFL this week
And I think it was the most comprehensive update for the year. Last game of VFL and we know who might be playing.

Now when I say comprehesive i suppose I mean that he mentioned a lot of players. Of course half of them we didn’t learn much but will on Thursday night!

It's Rohan. He's made of glass and has been his entire career. The only solution is to hope we make it to finals and get him right for the first week.
Do you think at all it impacts him for 2024?

8 weeks ago (admittadly before he came back from injury and we were at peak missing him phase) I thought it was certain he would play in 2024. Then when he returned he reinforced his value to us…and there was even talk about contract talks. But since then he hasn’t given us a full game? A couple of games he played when he definitely shouldnt have. And surely the confidence in his body is shot.

I assume no harm in signing him up but I hope in 2024 they never play him hurt again

I hope we play Guthrie in the ones
Either as a starting mid and sub him off
Or a sub and bring him on

No point him playing VFL when our season is on the line and our midfield is depleted
I have no clue as to the clues they are giving out. 2/3 weeks ago Scott was definitive that he would return via the VFL. Expressly said it. But last week talked about possible sub - but then mentioned risk of sub…. Was it a thought bubble or serious? I am not convinced that either he nor Hawkins play…I hope I am wrong

Do you have inside info?

Minor hamstring for our over 30s tends to be 3-4 weeks. 4 weeks from last Friday would be the EF if we make it.
weeks after- that is all- yes, as you put it, if it is only the hamstring issue, and minor at 3-4 weeks, and we make it, he'd be a remote chance to play.

No he's been the same for a long time. He's playing well enough still that he's worth a list spot. Ideally we win enough games to be top 4 with him playing only half anyway to bring in youngsters. And if he's playing at this level come finals time he'll be in the best 22 for sure.

Yeah I have no idea when it comes to team selection.
I would’ve dropped touhy weeks ago and even funny enough played Mullin instead.
And that’s saying something

Touhy brings absolutely **** all atm

Kroeger, after playing his first VFL game for the year, is now listed as 'medium term' with a knee injury. Wonder whether they're prepared to persevere with him for another year after close to nil return so far.

Jhye Clark Foot Medium term
Toby Conway Ankle Test
Tom Hawkins Hamstring Test
Jack Henry Foot Long term

Obviously we already knew Henry's season was done.

Blicavs looks like the other one in the danger zone depending on how far we make it.

It seems like if we play finals there's a good chance we'll have Stanley, Hawkins, Rohan and Guthrie. I'd take that. Ideally with one of them playing this week and another back for the Bulldogs.

I am hoping that they forgot to update it? Surely he can’t be that unlucky!

Except his previous issue was hip related not knee

Maybe he just doesn't have a body able to hold up to what's required for VFL level let P alone seniors

Quite possibly.

Even so, it's bizarre that they started to include him in the injury list late in the season after not mentioning him for almost the entire year.

But that is all part of the mystery that is the Geelong medical room.

Bizarre is one word for it. Silly, unnecessary, dismissive and juvenile are a few of the others that spring to mind.

As long as Flynn knows what is going on- how can you call it juvenile, unnecessary...?

I absolutely believe that it is juvenile and unnecessary to incessantly omit clearly injured players from an injury report. Like so many things, the clue was in the name. An injury report is there to report on injured players, not just on a select group that you consider worthy of a mention.

As I've said before, it's not even that the club has to be in any way decent in the way it goes about it. Even noting 'Flynn Kroeger - leg thingy - medium/long term' every week would have passed muster, given how low our club sets the bar on these matters. As it is, we were subjected to the nonsense for almost an entire season that Flynn either did not exist or was not injured. Just a farcical state of affairs that the club could have avoided with less than ten additional words in the injury report each week.

Sorry, misunderstood you. I totally agree with that. I have a particular interest in FK, and have been dismayed at the paucity of accurate injury info all season. I was aware he played VFL last week, and was seen in the last q, so to read the knee issue as medium term seemed bizarre.

Kroeger has been listed in the VFL team, so I assume that means he was mistakenly included in the injury list this week.

If so, they didn't name him in the injury list for almost the whole year when he actually had an injury, but when he didn't have an injury they named him.

Anyway, it's good news if he's injury free.

A poster who was watching the game said he saw him on the ground in the last q, intact.
So it would be incredibly unlucky if he reinjured at training.
