The real interest in the next couple of weeks:
  • Do we trade up in ND to get a slider and what do we give up.
  • Does Mitch Edwards make it to pick 41 and if so do we match bid (if so do we make them make 4 ND selections instead of 3)
  • Do we hold back one rookie selection (two likely at this stage) and leave one available for SSP/MSD.
IMO,
  • McD replaces Hamling for KPD depth
  • Sharp is our replacement winger with O'D to come back and Stanley coming along well (Aish can help out when needed).
  • Before Schultz left, my focus was on a Walters replacement already. This is now, by far, our biggest need IMO.
Therefore, I would be happy if we used some of our 2025 pick loot as necessary and responsibly to move up if required to find the best player for that Schultz/Walters small forward role (whether collard or someone else Walls has identifed (tho moving up may not be necessary for someone else I would predict)). Even more now, I want the best goal kicking, goal sneak, small forward, makes something happen in congestion and out of nothing. We need our Ballas or Walters replacement(s) if we really want to contend. All the best teams have them and these are the guys that help get the wins in the finals.

I’m all in on the Mannagh to replace Schultz and Clohesy to replace Young train of thought.
If we can get another young small forward to eventually replace Walters, that would be a bonus.

If Sharp and NOD come in as you suggest, who is out?

Aish is versatile but he won't be replacing Schultz.

I hope in the preseason the wing options we have go head to head because there is a career sitting there up for grabs.

well, towards the latter part of the season those playing wing included Henry, Hughes, Stanley, and Aish. You generally have three that can wing so Sharp, NOD and Aish when needed. But yes, with players coming back from injuries like Chapman, spots will be tight and hopefully hotly contested. Best in form make the field. Hoping it becomes a difficult job for JLo to select the 22 each week.

Aish probably move to the back line and Walker/Hughes lose their place.

So East Fremantle + Good runner = Full time AFL player! 😯
Tick.

Luke McPharlin - East Fremantle + junior 400 champ = perennial mark of the year contender and best backman you've ever seen.

Aaron Sandilands - East Fremantle + weirdly athletic for a FREAKING GIANT = best tap ruckman of the modern era

Luke Jackson - East Fremantle + so fast he hits the switch and gets into bed before the light even knows what to do with itself. Your girlfriend's bed.

I actually don't need facts here. The answer's in the question. Jeremy Sharp, dual under-18s All Australian, East Fremantle wunderkinder who unfortunately also happens to look like freo1997's wet dream - shall we get him in for free?

Longmuir, J doesn't have the same level of difficulty with attractive men that you and Stuey Dew apparently have. He'll take the redhot, steaming raw talent of a bloke who can literally run all day and turn him into just the sort of wing that Carlton will wish they could poach.

Wasn't the knock on Sharp in his draft year his lack of contested ability?

He could be another Tom Sheridan type i.e. runs around like a ******** all game doing * all.
Yeah low contested ball ratio.

We taught Acres to stop squibbing so hopefully we can do the same with Sharp.

I hope not. We actually have a few contenders and a delisted player with minimal games on the CV is an unconvincing resume, and certainly not a walk up start.
He's ahead of noddy and aish for mine

Johnson should probably play more inside

Stanley is an interesting one but coming off stress fractures will push him back you'd think

I expect Sharp to sign basically as soon as the SPP opens. He isn't not not nominating for the draft otherwise.

SPP is simply the mechanism being used to place him on the rookie list.

Wouldn't be surprised if we use the SPP in a more traditional way as well tbh. I like using a live pick in the rookie draft but the SPP is probably the best way to go if we have a second spot.
