I personally think it's about going fast at the right time, quite often in games it appear we got stuck repeating the same approach without the spark/leadership on when to change.
I think constantly trying to transition faster can just result in a lot of turnovers, but if you balance the measured approach with pulling the trigger it can be very effective.

The problem for me is moving Young out of the backline removes one of the few who can suddenly shift a move instinctively, and has the dare to try it even if it does backfire sometimes.
Wagner brought a good level of attack, which was extra important because of the Young move.
Your comment about our stuttering defence is deeper than mine and I agree. However my point is that it is a strategic/coaching issue rather than a personnel issue.

Chapman and Walker are two half backs who need to come back into our 22. Even after those two we have Worner, Hughes and Aish who are at least credible in the backline. At some stage someone can't play there, especially in a side where the midfield is misfiring. Young developing the capacity to play in the midfield is one of the best achievements of season 2023.

12.00pm AEDT: Sydney list boss Kinnear Beatson
12.15pm AEDT: Richmond recruiting manager Matt Clarke
12.30pm AEDT: Suns recruiting manager Kall Burns
1.00pm AEDT: Player agent James Pitcher
1.15pm AEDT: First-round draft prospect Koltyn Tholstrup
1.30pm AEDT: Top-five draft prospect Colby McKercher

Rookie promotions to the main list: Fremantle

Banfield and Treacy

Makes sense, so how many live picks do we now have!

Before the rookie promotions we had the following.

Fremantle: 34, 46, 60, 63, 74

But rookie promotions will consume 63, 74

So 3 live picks in the draft 34, 46, 60

We have five open primary list spots after Banfield and Treacy are promoted.

We still have all five picks 34, 46, 60, 63 and 74, we have the choice of filling them with main list players (ND) or rookies (RD or SSP) we’ll have an additional rookie spot once Corbett is moved to the inactive list.

Edit: 74 will likely come in a few spots as teams currently have more picks than list spots.

No I don't think so because we were 30 on the main list before MacDonald and the upgrades. So we still have 5 'live' picks to reach 38. Likely we won't and we'll run at 36 but draft day the last two picks are still live for now.

Those pointing to Aish's good decision-making and reliability are correct. He really does make the right decision more often than not. He doesn't dominate the crap out of everything he does, but is consistently on the right side of the ledger in contest after contest. I really rate him.

Saying he is like a smaller Jackson is also some sort of design-led insight:

Get the whole team full of half-shaven bedheads. I want them all to look like they know how to fashion a bong out of an apple.

Banfield, you ****ing neatnik. Get a poke tatt. Grow some stubble. DO NOT WASH.

Twomey reckons we are in for one of gc pick in the 30s for our later picks

Brissy for one of the 20s picks

Does 60, 63 and 74 for 32 make sense points wise for GC? Woould leave us with 32, 34 and 46 which isn't bad. Could then use 32 and St Kildas future 2nd to get into the early 20s maybe

Not even close

Would be like 36 for 46, 60 and 63. Remember it can't be a live trade immediately before the pick because they would have already needed the points.

They might do 32 for 46, 60 and 63.

We should be aiming for GC 27, that will put us two spots ahead of Rich.

According to AFL site we have Fremantle: 34, 46, 60, 63, 74
CG will use all 4 picks before ours to get their 4 FS/AC picks (One may slip below 34)
WB & Haw have one high each F/S

GC need more points.

Our best option is to go for a CG 27 (30) and then try for Adl 20 (25)

Live trading will be big this year.

I'll be disappointed if we take three 1sts and a 2nd into next year to be honest. Should be a way we can take in a half decent draft hand this year if we want and that's just too much capital to be able to be thrown away when some rando list manager demands it next year

Yeah, I also feel like the more we have next year, the more we'll be paying for McDonald.

My dream scenario would be:

Trade a future 1st to get into the teens for Darcy Wilson.

Bundle our second round pick and a future 2nd to pinch Lance Collard.

Use what's left to snag Shaun Mannagh.

Gives us an attacking wing/HFF, dangerous small forward, a mature forward to help cover Schultz and, imo, completes our rebuild.

So these are GC's picks and what they are worth
24 worth 785
26 worth 729
27 worth 703
32 worth 584
36 worth 502
38 worth 465

these are Freo picks
34 worth 542
46 worth 331
60 worth 146
64 worth 101

these will change during the night but if we wanted to do a deal here's the figures to work on.

Maybe we have some inside knowledge that Edwards will slide past 40 and we just want to get our two picks in before matching a bid after 40 with 74?

If Edwards does get past pick #40, and I'm not confident of that at all, then the pick after that used to match can be pick #5000 if need be. Getting value out of them early would be good business.

Moir, whilst obviously talented, seems like everything Walls tends to avoid. Whereas I look at Koen Sanchez and think "* me, that's a Walls pick if I've ever seen one."
Koen is a relative by marriage and I can testify to his excellent character, excellent attitude and all-round general Wallsiness. His old man is a Richmond supporter but routinely took Koen to Freo games from tackerhood so he counts as a Freo supporter.

I would love to see him in the imperial purple - the colours, not the poster - and would in no way see it as a consolation prize. He's a good option.

But Moir has all the oldschool Fremantle flakiness that ignites my monster party cone.
