We really need Durdin to come on.
Cuningham? Is he a player? He has so much of what we need.
If Curnow is the player we think he is then a finals series like we seen won’t happen again.
We sort of looked abit out gunned tonight but TBH Brisbane have everyone covered atm for that. We are close, we don’t need big changes but forwards with speed will get our attention

Don't think he is TBH. The likes of him, Cottrell, JSOS, Fogarty etc shouldn't be in our best 22. Seriously have to do something about our treacle slow midfield going forward to see genuine improvement. Think our midfield needs Dow more than ever and I've never been a huge fan. Need to move on one of Hewett Kennedy instead.

You don't give up players with that much talent, especially in a position of need, for nothing.
He's gotten his body right. It won't be a big contract. We don't need a list spot that badly.

Interesting no one has mentioned Carroll in our midfield mix.

Still only 20 and had an injury prone year. Problem is he is no different to what we have. More an accumulator but I think he can play

I don't really see it with him.

Disposal was dreadful and didn't seem to have any above average traits.

Obviously young, but we see more and more now that if a young mid is going to be good, they're pretty good early.

Love to be proven wrong, of course.

We need some leg speed and better ball use. I’m disappointed Dow is going and I would have played him in the finals

Improvement next year needs to come from Williams Boyd Kemp Hollands Cowan Binns O’Keefe Lemmey Durdin Cincotta Motlop TDK. This is the group with all the upside

We need to make sure players like Cottrell Fogarty Cuningham aren’t beat 22.

I hope we get Elijah Hollands and I would love a Liam Henry. He is what we need

Think our midfield needs Dow in it permanently. We should be keeping and move one of Kennedy or Hewett

I agree. It’s one part but you need run with it.

Cripps Kennedy Hewett can’t play in the same side

And I’ll say it and most will probably disagree but Cripps worries me. He’s a bull but is poorly skilled, very slow and gets found out when having someone mind him. My concern is the game will go past him quickly. Happens with players with no leg speed.

We need to add class and run to Cerra & Walsh. It’s why I would keep Dow

Ball use is a big issue as well

Think the Swans locked him up recently. He will be best 22 from here.

Amartey is the one that might be squeezed out. Not sure he fits into our side as well as McLean would.

Pitt is a witches hat after the centre bounce.

Need tdk to put on 5kg (really shouldn't be an issue at his age over an off season) and be able to play 80% ruck with JSOS or Harry chopping out.

Happy for Harry to not play centre bounces..if jsos not there, just play someone like Cotters there (and just tackle) for the couple CBAs TDK can't get to.

Pitt has proven entirely useless around the ground. His CBA first effort is excellent and that's it..if tdk can break even and then get involved around the ground, we become a much more balanced team

I hope not. Honestly thought he was absolutely horrific yesterday. 3 very bad free kicks against, a very poor kick out of defense that rebounded right back and then whatever you want to call it when he had the ball in an offensive position in the third quarter when we needed a momentum get her when we had some of the play.

Cost us 3 to 5 goals himself yesterday.

I do t understand our list management in regards to rucks, we can do better.

Fisher and Dow are gone. Everyone here knows it and everyone in the media has already acknowledged it as a foregone conclusion. Any discussion about them not related to how much we're getting back for them is basically pointless.

I think so, whether that improves us or takes us backwards is another question.

I look at the footy we played later in the year. Against Melbourne, probably our best win of the year. Looking at what Dow and Fisher produced and looking at our finals team this year.

Hate to say it, we could use a couple of players like that.

If we can get a couple of player like Fisher (half back version) and Dow, we will be laughing.

Seriously though, if we can upgrade on them that will be great. We need those types badly.

I reckon they will go and we will regret it. Maybe not so much Fisher with Williams coming back but get a feeling we might with Dow. There is no one on our list who can do what Dow does outside of Walsh.

I think they both should be interchanging up the ground more often, which might see Charlie getting out the back outside 50 like Buddy used to

I agree & have advocated for that for a while.
Harry & Charlie working in tandem is bordering on unstoppable, whilst a static structure is much easier to defend.

Realistically, Pitt v Silvagni is negligible.
Jack gets abused in the ruck & Pitt offers very little around the ground.
We're hoping that Lemmey or O'Keeffe can step up & replace them.

A mix of Cripps Hewett Cerra Williams Walsh Hollands might be what we need?

He always played best off halfback at the Giants. It just seems logical to play him where he plays the best.

Lohmann is staying in Bris & Smith would be too costly but the rest could represent handy pickups IMO.
I suspect that it'll be a quiet trade period though & we'll be eyeing off the draft.

We beat port and pies without Dow, so yes we shouldn’t go rewriting history.

He did well when he came in, but he isn’t getting a game ahead of Cripps, Hewett, Walsh, Cerra or Kennedy.

Kennedy the only one you could make a half case he could get in ahead of if playing at his best.

Dow isn’t someone who improves our running capacity, he has some burst speed out of a stoppage but isn’t as good as the others so will only get a game if others are injured.

Unfortunately he plays in a role we have a surplus of options in, even one of Kennedy or Hewett will probably miss out a lot next year.

Thats exactly what we lack. Which is why he should be playing ahead of Hewett and Kennedy.

What's our primary need? Might only be based on finals but we need a quick half forward. Not sure if E Hollands or Gresham is or can be that tho. Martin isn't quite that role.

I agree with this but actually as much for defensive run down pressure as anything.

We need a Mcreaery type who can shake it up when the opponent half backs take off.

As good as Cotts has been this year he lacks the top end speed to do that.

Hollands I like. Would replace Cottrell for me. Lohmann I believe is now staying at the Lions. Im sure I saw that during the week.

Binns is an interesting case. was in the best players virtually every week, looks a neat kick and a good runner. Looks like he surveys his options well when choosing where to kick.

But we’re so well served off the HBF and wing, where does he play? Did he play midfield minutes in the 2’s?

I like him but he doesn’t add anything we don’t already have.

Lohman re-signed with the Lions, and Brockman is leaving the Hawks to go home to WA for family reasons.

Might be a better reader of play and user of it than say, Cotts, but doesn’t have the running power.

Analysis of Pitto’s stats doesn’t look good at all this season. Not finding the ball. Not a single mark on a lead. 2 marks inside 50. Shithouse kicking efficiency.

Is a better tap ruckman than TDK but nowhere near it as soon as it hits the ground and everywhere afterwards. There’s no spot in the forward line for TDK really unless one of Cc or McKay is injured.

Huge off-season ahead for TDK I hope.

I think he offers less in general play and linking up than those 2.

Centre clearance and contest is our biggest competitive advantage over the competition. The running power from Doc, Acres, Walsh, Hollands and Cottrell also sets up the midfield. For me, the biggest area of growth is our forward line. Charlie is amazing, Harry is good for the system but has plenty to improve on - but we need the following to happen:

• Motlop to get involved more (2nd year player, should be fine, loved his work back half of the year)
• Martin to remain fit, and in the likely occurence he misses some footy, we need a decent backup
• Cunners/Fog/Owies are good foot soldiers but need to create more. Could be where we look to Elijah Hollands but an explosive small with a strong overhead mark would be ideal (Humphrey, Papley kind of player).
• Resting ruck has to take more marks. TDK in the Semi is the blueprint.
