No, of course not. But that’s not the only injury he’s had in his 3 years at the club.
I’m hardly writing him off because of this, but he’s had a rough run which surely could be perceived as having durability issues…

Williams Philp out for year -- fog akuei honey mirkov okeefe - question marks on the draftees in regards to impact (4) .. kemp Carroll limited exposure -Dow on the blocks not including cunners or Marchy in above list ... Is the sqaud really as deep as people keep saying ? Having so many players with durability issues will mean some sleepless nights

Then I don’t really know what to say, other than to reiterate it’s crazy to suggest he goes from #1 to off the list in no time.
We’ve got nearly a handful of guys who we’d likely look at moving on before Pittonet for that reason.

Dow Fogarty Akuei Philp and one of Marchy or Gov (Ed Retiring too) are likely to depart end of this season. Some for durability reasons, others for lack of ability...
If you reckon on top of that we're going to delist or trade our current number 1 ruck option who would be on very minimal $$ and with no clear better option available... what can I say? You've got rocks in your head.

We have up to 36 players who could play in our senior side this year if required,granted some aren’t as durable as others but to answer your question we have adequate depth to contend.

Ah yes, because 5 years derailed by knee and lower leg injury is just bad luck.
Yeah let's go with the guy who misses half the season like clockwork because of what we have on the list currently.
It's not like there's any mechansims for acquiring a new starting ru- oh wait
I'm not saying he's top of the list, it was a specific point I brought up that was mentioned many times in the wake of O'Keeffe's signing.
As for the idea that he's #1 ruck, it's because Voss shifted priorities in terms of what we want out of a starting ruck. Let's see how the younger types adapt, instead of gripping for dear life to the one guy on our list who currently gets it done at the centre bounce.
That's a crazy waste of a spot in the 22.
If we're offering a start ruck role, there's plenty of talented rucks in the league who will put their hand up to join us. Also Akuei is Cat B, takes up a completely separate list.
Weird that you're talking all about Gov and Marchbank, but not looking over at the impact that Kemp, Cowan, Boyd and Saad have on Newman and Plow...
Salary has absolutely nothing to do with it if they're not going to play half the games in a finals push. I don't think strategy is your deal...

Not sure what you mean by this statement.
Madden came after 45games at Essendon in 83. It took him 4 years to become AA.
Allan drafted from North Ringwood..took 5 years to become AA.
Ackland wasnt any good, just filled a list spot in the dark days post salary cap saga. Recruited 07 had 1 season. Never AA.
To me carlton ruckman are made at carlton.

No reason why Mirkov or Hudson O could develop in AA if we have finally got our development structures in place.
Pitto is no Max Gawn, but he is critical to centre bounce set up, purely from body size.
TDK is the one I am not convinced by.
I think he would make a good CHB to be honest. Either way any multi year 800k plus offer and he will go for multiple picks. Id say 1st and 2nd rounder. Interesting 2023 coming for many reasons

We have another list spot available. Williams and Philp both moved to inactive list.
I know some will advocate waiting for the mid season draft, but if the season goes as expected, we would not be in the top 10 picks at that time, so will not have the prospect of nabbing a standout from second tier competitions. Use it now and fill the list. A “relative” like for like with a mobile backman is the weakest spot on the list which could feasibly be improved in the next few days. We want a player able to play now if necessary. I repeat Cincotta has the form on the board. He is one of ours. His athletic profile is superb for a defender (sub 3 second 20m sprint, excellent leap etc) As tough as nails. Could rebound, although not his forte, can absolutely lock down, which many have screamed for. Well worth a 10 month gamble/audition.
Yeah i agree, grab a player now while that player is maybe still available to us, if we are playing finals this year then like last years MSD all the better preformed talent will be gone before our pick…
Besides the the MSD having produced a few reasonably good standard players in the past couple of years, it’s generally just a backup to cover injury losses…
Maybe, Austin and the boys have the eye 👁 on someone else left field again we don’t know about, you would imagine running player with some pace, i did like the manner in which Cincotta played for us last year, if he gets the nod then that’s a great reward for him…

Yes, once in 2020 in the VFL, and once in 2021 in the AFL.
That being said, I don't think he's ever had more than 50% game time as a forward in any given match. It's always been an afterthought.
I agree that we should acquire someone now, but more because we'll probably have more slots available for the MSD.
Still not keen on Cincotta, just don't see him getting a game and we already have him on the VFL list.
Hudson O'keefe and Lemmey are the beautiful expression of Carlton's ability to invest in long term development instead of short term gap filling, for the first time in the modern AFL.

kind of get your point, but since the start of the rebuild haven't we also invested in long term development plenty. They were just surrounded by gap fillers for the development years, In other words, its not for the first time.
They've had a really good look at Cincotta and there's probably a very good reason he hasn't been given a spot (yet). I'd prefer they give the last spot to someone who is young with plenty of skills and upside. It would be nice if he could play a similar role to Zac but that shouldn't be the priority in my book.
Different stages of a clubs rebuild calls for different requirements needed during/at that time, most rebuilds are different altogether not every club does it all the same way either…
I tend to agree with this. As much as I'm a fan of Cincotta at VFL level, I also see him as just a back up option in case of emergency. When Walsh returns, there's a chance that Doc may head down back anyway if he gets squeezed out the midfield group, and Boyd will also be back in the mix at some stage during the season.
The other point is at the end of the year, Philp will now likely be gone along with Ed, and Dow's tenure at Carlton in the balance. That's three of our mids potentially gone, which would only leave Carroll and an injury prone Cunners as our depth midfielders (unless I'm missing someone).
Personally, I'd like to see us acquire a young mid who missed out at the draft like a D’Aloia or Szybkowski as a free hit, and get a year's development into them like we've done with O'Keefe. We essentially traded out of this year's draft with the acquisition of Acres and Cowan with our 2nd and 3rd round picks, so it would kinda make sense if we decide to head that way.
