To be honest, again, no. I just watch the game. I notice them during the game if they annoy me. I don’t recall fans from one week to the next. People get emotional. Whatever. Where does one draw the line? Giving a s**t at all is illogical. I don’t know any players. Don’t have a role at the club. Give them money for some reason. I outsource my happiness for 3 hours a week to somehting I have no control over. Irrational. I chat with people via text on here who I will never know. Odd. But whatever. Elon reckons we are all in a simulator anyway so who gives a s**t.

First 5 games of the season and we are starting to play a transition style of footy whilst our midfield is in a form slump. Relying too much on our backline but the more and more I’ve watch I’m led to believe some players are getting found out. Jsos and fisher are very lucky that there’s not much competition underneath them because they are looking like absolute plodders at the moment. It occurred to me against north and then was reaffirmed against Adelaide. They just don’t have what it takes to be impactful players. The only thing saving them is their ball use but they’ve been so terrible this year. They’ve had full pre seasons as well which is more concerning. At least our midfield group are being managed through the season but I don’t see any more improvement from these two. They are what they are and it’s not good enough. Need to scour the market quick smart for some vets up forward that can take ground quickly and kick the footy at a reasonable level.

I personally think we should target Schultz from Freo as a UFA. 25yo, Works well up the ground which allows Motlop to have a like for like player to rotate at HFF. Work rate is great, quick, goal sense, averaging nearly 2 goals a game so far @69.2% goal kicking efficiency, averages 15-16 touches at game @78%. He’s also from Vic, so would be another chip to use to lure him back.

Really turned his game around the last 2 seasons and like his tenacity I50.

Each to their own, like who gives a shit when they feel like jumping on. It doesn't really make their comments mean any less because they are selective. Easy enough to ignore, if you dont agree. Some ppl are glass full some are glass empty , some have rose colored glasses on. Some are thick and thin, some are fair weather supporters, and so on and so forth [emoji3]

Why does it matter where they have been and where they were during the first month? Everyone is entitled to an opinion, even those differing from yours.

Don’t confuse holding a negative opinion for only appearing after a loss. There is a significant difference.

We have many prominent posters here who view aspects of the club through a negative lens.
Their opinions are valid. They are welcomed and encouraged to share them, so long as they do so respectfully, and with balance.

We are a supporter forum and a community. Naturally we are inclined to promote those who support the club, rather than those who do not.

Those who only appear after a loss don’t offer the balance. They are welcome to express their views on more suitable platforms. There are many out there.

I find it hard to believe he is anywhere near Motlop or Durdin. Fish’s spot isn’t certain imo either because he can’t apply the pressure we need. I’m not sure what JSOS role is, if he isn’t leading up the ground and taking marks then imo he is very replaceable with a smaller running player.

I would say he was last year, but I'm hoping they're stepping up now given he'd be doing more lead-up work. And he is, with no better example of it being in the 2 weeks prior to this.

Hell no. He's got less than 0 footy IQ. He'd struggle to follow his opponent let alone play in a zone. He's a ruckman or bust. Doesn't know how to create space or block in the forward line, hardly involves himself in link play and loses his opposing ruck immediately after every contest.

O'Brien had nearly 20 possies against him on the weekend. TDK has a hell of a long way to go and probably should be working on it in the vfl but we have no one else with pitto injured.

He doesn't strike me as incapable of learning, I just don't think we have a great environment for doing so. We had some progress on this front in 2021, but since then it's fallen off a bit.

I don't know if you've been on other parts of the internet, but humans are generally wired to pick up when something's wrong or off and react swiftly. That's how social groups are maintained.

People frame that in different ways, and most in the case of a football club will frame it in terms of either potting people or compulsively patting everyone on the back and wishing them luck for the next time. Depends on life experience, empathy, wherewithal, etc.

I worry about people who ask for balance for balance's sake, or even bias towards the notion of fairness, rather than encouraging a rounded discussion. Discussion forums aren't always great for this though, so you tend to see a series of hot takes, and most people aren't going to think deeply about the game, they're just going to sign in and complain about things or ride the high.

Most won't even log in when they're just riding the high. It's even worse for people working with consumers in a product or most service industries: most people only bob up online to complain. I suppose the key is expectations managment, and that comes through communicating knowledge and insight, which brings me back around to the same point I make of yourself and a few others.

You're likely right that he's got the capabilities to learn. Just the monumental hype surrounding someone who wouldn't be starting in most teams atm. Certainly no teams 'in the window'. He's 25th or so for percentage of hitouts going to advantage and quite low in around the ground and clearance stats. Just rather concerned a lot of the issues with the midfield come from the 'point guy' providing relatively nothing - he's at the age all of gawn, Grundy, English etc started really coming on I believe.

Good question. I don't pretend to know that answer. I can only talk from my own experience .People are, in general, quicker to complain than to give praise. Maybe it's due to having certain expectations. If they are met, then that's normal, and it's business as usual. But if they are not met, some people internally combust.

Yes, we can. As for who... not sure we're in the market for a marquee player (demanding a high price). A quality ruckman would be handy though. I think we'll look for an extra 1st rd pick though.

Some players will be cut because they haven't made, but 4 that stand out are McGovern, Marchbank, Cuningham and Philp because of their injury history. I feel for Philp because of his LTI and wonder if he would be rookied (but wouldn't be surprised if he is delisted). And the others?

Love the way Dow navigates his way through heavy traffic and releases other players with his deadly hands.
fmd, I couldn't care less if he only amassed 18-20 possessions and chased as poorly as most of our current mids, they usually open up the game and create forward thrusts.
