Our leaders aren't leading and they aren't not coaching on field.

Doc has some coaching nous. He should be captain again and behind the ball.

Weitering and Young deserved to be dropped and if it weren't for Sam Durdin being injured, he and Kemp should come in.

I think Walsh is professional enough to be our future captain.

Our end of year cleanout needs to be huge and I'd throw some kids in for the experience. Our season is going nowhere.

I wouldn't blink an eye at trading out Cripps, Weitering or McKay at this stage. Each are worn down or have deficiencies that won't be overcome. They are all on long term contracts though, and we'd need a team to come courting with a promise of finals and professionalism.

Last off-season he took 3 picks inside 32 and managed to bring in a best 22 player in a position of need. We were also on an upward trajectory so it was very unlikely we made many big moves in moving on players.
Before that we made some of the biggest off-season moves with Cerra, Saad, Hewett, Williams. I wouldn’t be calling what we have done conservative.
I've liked all of Austins moves and last year I was more than content with his decisions. I just don't think he's really gone out on a whim since he arrived and taken any big risks. I'd like us to trade some of our own this year for more bites at the draft and look at poaching some under contract players if possible.

Either way I'm a very big fan of Austin and the team, I think they've been very solid in their tenure, I'd just like us to get a bit more creative to try and get some real high end quality kids/players end of year.

Not sure why TDK would choose Geelong, sure he would be number one ruck but there list age profile is scary. 11 players 30 plus with most of them over 32, sure they have some good players, but I think this team is bottom 6 next year. Haven’t been overly impressed with the talent they have under there ageing stars either. Danger being out exposed how pedestrian there midfield is without him.
12 over 30 last year didn't seem too problematic

You say manufacture a trade .. who would you trade that can yield a second or third rounder without selling off a top 10 player
I’m not really sure, you don’t want to be letting go of your best and most needed talents, possibly someone might have to be traded to gain what we need?

Our problem is a chunk of the kid/players drafted throughout the current rebuild have either not come on for different reasons or have been poor picks in general, unfortunately we don’t possess much depth with players possibly seeking more opportunities who have trade capital in a good draft range…

Not many of this list has the potential for gaining you very much of what we require pick range wise for a range of reasons…

(Silvagni) (Dow) O’Brien (Kennedy) Fogarty (McGovern) Carroll Plowman *Martin *Marchbank (Fisher) *Cuningham *Philp Honey S.Durdin Mirkov

Od say TDK would get is Geelongs 1st at 15, not sure if anything else.

Fisher might get you WCE 3rd round pick at 37

Gov might get you a 3rd round pick at Port

Dow might get a late 3rd or early 4th

I don’t think any of those are top 10 based on previous output.

Kennedy would also likely net us a decent pick if we did go down that path.
Kemp likely a late 2nd imo.

Hoyney on the side of Voss and where we’re falling down.
Do the players have the gumption (and skills) to pull through….
Heard that, very interesting
Made me want to cry when he spoke about how Liam Jones was tracking. 😩🥲

Agree re not blinking an eye. In fact I'd be happy to move on Cripps and hope Cripps puts his hand up at the end of the year and asks to be traded.

We aren't winning a premiership with this guy as our captain

Unfortunately I agree

Agree on TDk and I would be rapt if we got that
Fisher will get us 55 or there abouts
Gov same as fisher but I assume nothing
Dow nothing
Maybe Kennedy might get us a late third if we are lucky
Teams don’t give solid picks for average players nowadays

No more recycled players (unless they are 23 or under) We need to hit draft again hard, and cash in on Silvagni, Dow, Fisher TDK etc And try bring in at least 5-6 kids in this year's draft which will have sliders and plenty of depth.

Tom De Koning is not going to get us a First Round Pick IMO. A pick in the 20s the most likely (projected) outcome

We need more pace and players with elite endurance and kicking skills into our midfield.

I would also consider putting Bam Bam on the trade table and see if we got a good offer/pick for him.

There is not enough organic growth or talent on this list for us to challenge for a flag.

The good news is this a very good year to have an off kilter season, another top 10 draft pick and more young talent accumulation.

We currently have too many mids/wing and flanker types who butcher the ball and lack pace, which hurts us a lot.
We need to use the draft to fix that area

Think its time for us to get realistic and face the likely scenario that our players (esp our midfield) are just not as good or great as we all thought/hoped.

Out of your list only really Kennedy might get you a third rounder hence why I said we might need to lose a decent player to get back into 1st -3rd round .. it’s hard with our list becaue the gap between good and poor is huge and I am a bit like you where I don’t want to lose a cripps or mckay but we have to thibk outside the square to restructure the list

A REMINDER FOR THE PINECONES

This bloke is not our problem.

As highlighted perfectly by Buckley and Brown - Tom Mitchell is there to play as an inside extractor, not to run. We don't have runners around Cripps, we have plodders. We have about 4 good runners in the whole team. 3/4 of Collingwoods entire team are fast, powerful runners.

Ahhhh, yes, he is certainly part of our problem.

Richmond should have traded Dusty back in 2016 when he was being found out for his defensive ability and transition running too!

We lack the Lambert's.
No they shouldn't have. Dusty was 24 years old and killing it. Cripps is 28 and slow, can't kick goals, his leadership is questionable, does nothing with the youth on our list and is only going to get slower.

I like Cripps, but don't see him as a good fit with all the other holes we have.

You talk about building a team around him of runners like what Collingwood have, well how many years do you want to do that?

Firstly, Cripps is currently labouring. Last year he kicked 20 goals and won a Brownlow and was being talked up as one of the best leaders in the competition for half the year.

Secondly, we could address it within 1-2 off seasons quite easily imo with genuinely realistic and affordable options via trade/FA/draft.
