Sounds like Elijah Hollands will be leaving the Suns this offseason. Do we have a look? Wouldn't cost more than a second rounder. Can't imagine he'd be on a big contract either.
Just asking the question generally, but if Dow goes could the pick for him become Hollands? Is that equitable?
Personally, I'd rather us keep Dow, but if Dow goes then use that pick in draft or to upgrade a Rookie (if needed), before going for a trade someone like Hollands....

Agree, Kennedy could be a good 3rd lead up tall, however we have Silvagni and Martin to play this role. Kennedy has shown he is largely ineffective as a defender or off half back so if we need someone for that role I prefer Boyd then Fisher before Kennedy. Bam Bam, Hewett & Dow are battling it out for 1 position and prob the sub role.

Haven't seen enough from him to justify a second rounder, to be honest.

I'd happily get in his ear anyway, if he's prepared to nominate us then I'd just play hardball with GC for him. Future third or something to that effect. Maybe future second with their future third coming back.

Dow's shown enough in the last month that his value would eclipse that of Hollands.

If Dow goes, I could see it being to St Kilda. I'm sure SOS will be in his ear already just like he targeted Stocker. He loves picking up blokes he drafted that he feels have been under-utilised.

St Kilda's second rounder (~30-34 depending on the rest of the season) would probably be enough. That's too much for Hollands though, who has been subbed off in each of GC's last three games with 12 or less disposals and no scoreboard impact.

Hollands isn’t out of contract so this isn’t a standard trade, GC will need to find quite a lot of points as their 3 academy players are ranked around 2, 8 and 12 in the draft.

So if they want to move him on, he could easily say its Carlton or I stay and we get a bargain, but i doubt he’d be worth much, he hasn’t played much footy.

So maybe you’re right and we could play hardball.

I haven't been overly impressed by what I've seen of him at senior level this season.

Having said that he's only 21 so clearly he's young enough to turn it around and have a good long career. Not sure I'd give a second though.

Actually encouraged and heartened to read in the media (esp lately) that we need a major list regeneration (aka not rebuild) more so than sacking the coach.

I think we will have a fairly significant clean out (player wise) at the end of the season and going to hit the draft hard, and Voss will get another season in 2024 to prove his coaching mettle/worth as a coach of youngsters.

I actually feel pretty good/optimistic going forwards if this happens, would seem like we are maturing as a football club.

Let's forget about winning a flag in the next 3 years, that's not going to happen even if we had Pep Guardiola or Bill Belichick coaching us.

We need to stop obsessing about building a tram that can win us flag #17, but more so concentrating on bringing us quality kids onto our list, develop them into a nucleaus going forwards that can challenge for a flag say 3 or years from now.

For too long this club (and the board and list managers) have naively thought we were closer to a flag than what our actual talent base actually was capable of.

The noises from the club I am hearing lately is that we are going to another (mini) rebuild/list regeneration, and i couldn't be happier about it.

Not just you Elmer, as I have made some heavy statements in frustration as well.

It is easy to get caught up in the highs and the lows. Voss, Austin and especially Cook won’t be making decisions based on half a season of football. That is the first half of the season or the second half of the season. What we do know is that we can always get better, and we should use every avenue available to do so.

EDIT: this post looks like a harsh bump, but is a continuation of the discussion in the Bluemour thread.

I don’t understand why everyone thinks Dow isn’t important. The midfield is so more dynamic with him able to roll through it. And it’s not like we won’t have guys getting injured. He is only 23, so he has heaps in front of him too.

He might not be perfect, but he is a point of difference, which makes the team as a whole more dangerous and unpredictable.

Our other 'back-up' mids are being slaughtered in Queensland today.

yes, but it doesn't help that Moyle is absolutely slaughtering O'Keefe in the ruck
Our backups all over the ground are getting shellacked by a very good side, if Dow walks and Ed retires, the cupboard is pretty bare.
I wouldn't blame Dow for switching clubs at all, but a sub role each week and first chosen mid when a few of the others mids with recurring injury histories are unavailable would give him plenty of games.

Exactly. The sidestep and hands in traffic is amazing.

No idea about the validity and most likely just a troll on the main board to rub salt in the wound but have been seeing a fair bit of Archie Perkins wants out from the Dons from a range of posters lately.

He's a young player I'd be happy to acquire given his fit as a Mid/Fwd hybrid, but dealing with Dodo would be an abomination as always.

Firstly, anyone got any mail on those rumours?
Secondly, thoughts on a trade if there was any substance behind it?
