I'm starting to think, that we just aren't as good as we like to think we are unfortunately. This team obviously still has issues. It's like the players are still mentally scarred by those last second defeats to the Demons and Pies last year.

I still think we need to give Vossy a fair crack at it, but his backroom team needs a serious revamp. That probably should've been done before the season started.

There's no choice but to wing it now unfortunately but based on our current form and performances, i do fear that things could get ugly against the Pies. Hopefully i'll be proven wrong though.

VOSS HAS TO GO!
Have you not seen enough.
Talent everywhere.
A worse gone plan I haven’t seen.
Lose til the bye. See ya man!

I’m not convinced Voss is the right guy but to say we have talent everywhere you’d have rocks in your head.

Out top 8 are pretty good, but our small and half forwards wouldn’t get a game for any other afl club.

Our leaders are also mental pygmies.

Lost it in the middle again. Stats don't really show it but they beat us pretty convincingly around the packs. They were constantly standing up in tackles and dishing it off, we were constantly doing the opposite. Even though the stats looked even they got the ball out away from the packs much more easily than we did tonight.

We are not far off from that top echelon really, so many positives for this year in Hollands, Acres, Cerra. Kemp finally looks like he belongs, that is going to be great long term.

Got to keep mixing the side up until we get the right ingredients.

Kennedy has to come into the side now, there are several who could easily come out for him.

Weitering had a very unusually poor first quarter, hopefully a one off.

Got to get the inside mix right.

Lots of positives to take out of tonight’s game - only lost to a top four side by four goals - so that’s really only a goal a quarter we have to find - we found new avenues to goals as our talls were held, with Motlop and Durdin contributing 2 goals each.

Just a little more consistency should see us winning these close contests - we’re still a work in progress.
Thanks for that Michael....

Good:
Cerra - best player by a country mile this year. Looks the complete package - we need to find a way to get him in a first receiver position more often because he's the only mid we have that I'm confident will actually kick to a forward's advantage and not into the Marvel Stadium roof
Docherty - tried his guts out. If this group can't get up for this man's 150th then they can't get up for anything
Kennedy's last quarter - get him in the 22 next week
Cincotta looks solid at the level
Hollands doesn't stop - but ball use is VERY sloppy. Microcosm of whole team

Bad:
The rest lol
Walsh's kicking - atrocious
Cripps invisible after QT
Midfield comprehensively smashed
Weitering - don't know whats happening upstairs but whatever it is needs sorting out. Atrocious, gifted the Lions 3 goals in the first term from his own errors alone. Totally different game if we go into QT 2-3 goals up rather than level
Overall leadership - bereft of it
Honey - sorry, just not up to the level for mine. Too peripheral, doesn't impact the contest, doesn't even really pressure. We are SCREAMING for a pacy, classy HFF that can pinch hit in the middle and I can't see anyone on our list that fits the bill
Saad's second efforts - he gets a reprieve due to generally being good but not impressed with some of the shit I saw tonight

We keep playing like this and we will end up with 4.5 wins heading into the Essendon game in R13. Vossy going to be struggling to keep his job if this is what eventuates

Honestly. Anyone excusing this s**t is kidding themselves. If you want to sit there and say we aren’t real supporters because we jump off quickly then that’s fine. Fact is I’m watching every single week, have been since I was 5 years old. I have 2 kids who have never seen us play finals football. Both myself and my wife play footy. I have a sister who is a Tigers fan, never played footy, yet all 3 of her kids are footy nuts. I wonder why.
who cares?

Oh well, expected result. Good use of the word mediocre to describe the team in the title, it's what we are.

We have 6-7 AA quality players, we rely on them to play at AA level to win and when they don't we don't win.

Cripps, McKay, weitering, walsh have been below par compared to the best years, Saad has been average at best, only Charlie has been at AA level.

The next rung are only really good/good when those above play well and the bottom 6-8 are at best very average AFL players and in general, when the game isn't given to them on a silver platter, sub par AFL players.

We play safe, uninspiring play and have looked terrible for 90% of the season.

90% of the season is a bit of a stretch

I could be mistaken but I'm sure a Lions player drove Acres over the boundary in a pretty hard tackle at one point, and Acres helped him up after.

Kennedy should never be sub again.

His game is what a sub should be, fresh legs and impact fully because of it.

Prior to that we had LOB who we all thought after each game 'not sure he should be on the list, let alone sub'

As much as people may hate Kennedy being the sub, at least it is working when he comes on.

If nothing else, the last two weeks show the difference that the opposition makes. Did we come into tonight planning to move the ball slowly after quarter time? I doubt it. Reckon the game plan this week was pretty much the same as the game plan last week. But Brisbane were good enough to choke off our run, and we didn't get it back until the last quarter.

We need to find ways to wrestle the momentum back our way sooner, and we really need to stop handing the ball straight back to the opposition with horrible turnovers.

It’s ok, by mid week it will all be good again & the Fab5 + Ed & Doc in the middle occasionally will be the set up that “works”.
Maybe bring back Fish to give us a different look 🤦‍♂️
Every time we win the ball we go backward to go forwards, even on the rare occasion we get to the ball first.
Our opposition does their home work & accordingly tear us apart at will, they know exactly what Voss does every week.
The horrible, simple skill errors are a disgrace, it shows the mindset & attitude of the players.
In the words of Homer “we’ve tried nothing and are all out of ideas”.
This is week 1 of the block of hard games & this was an easy one as Brisbane are no good away from home.

Smells fishy with how we flicked the switch in the 4th quarter. Partly due to Brisbane’s effort dropping off but I’m starting to think we’re picking and choosing when to put in effort. I’ll get shot down for saying this but it wreaks of the Carlton of old trying to get a coach sacked. I’d love to be wrong but it’s starting to build that stench. As much as I’m not a huge fan of Voss, if that’s the case some of these players need to be shown the door.

Kicking down the line on numerous times to Durdin one out... our smallest player. With literally no one else at the drop of the ball. The mind boggles. That’s back to the Bolton era. Love Charlie but he’s too often setting up behind the defender trying to get the Joe the Goose type goal rather than leading at the ball carrier.

Kennedy sub.. madness. He should have started and the sub should have been someone with run.

Loved Cerra’s performance tonight. Hold your head high. Cincotta looks at the level. Not many other shining lights tonight unfortunately.

I’m too frustrated with the coaching and the players at the moment to add anything meaningful so I’ll leave it at that.
It's not players trying to get the coach sacked - they are playing Voss' game plan and it's rubbish. Half the team aseem totally devoid of confidence because the game plan is flawed. It is rubbish, we can all see it, the players can see it but Voss and co are welded to play slow, kick long down the line, turnover, rinse repeat.

Last week was a circuit breaker but once the pressure came on tonight, they reverted to what they trained for the whole off-season, slow, measured buildups and then long kicks to a congested forward line. The plan is the problem and I doubt this coaching panel has the ability to rework it mid season.
