Draft Review 2023 - Re-do the draft

Righto bud. I can at least be impartial and say it's too early to tell, but I'm sure you've watched every Geelong game, and have an idea just how good Humphries is in comparison.

It's called bias, not an opinion.

See ya.
As it stands it a flip of a coin IMO. They are both great gets for their pick range.

Humphries is 2 years older than Freijah. His disposal efficiency was number one for Geelong last season, and better than any of the other players nominated for the Rising Star award so that is his strength. He also finished fourth in the voting for the Polly Farmer medal for best player in the Indigenous All-Stars game. Freijah looks like an exceptional prospect who has taken his game to another level this year

Freijah is still only 19 is more the point and you’d expect a fair amount of improvement by the time he’s 22 like Humphries.

Humphries certainly uses it well, no question about that.

This is going to be an elite draft. In 15 years time, it will not be far off 2001. Amazing depth too

O'Sullivan looks so good - to think the Cats flipped 10 of 11 and 31 and got O'Sullivan and Mannagh who are now both best 22.

Pick 63 also got us Humphries. Not to mention Wiltshire who is doing very well in the VFL, taken at Pick 61. Also have Mitch Edwards and George Stevens, who could make it too.

Could be our best draft since 2016, the way things are going.

11. Connor O'Sullivan - 7 games
32. Mitchell Edwards - 0 games
36. Shaun Mannagh - 15 games
58. George Stevens - EMERGENCY
61. Oliver Wiltshire - DEBUTING
63. Lawson Humphries - 17 games

Given it was a draft hand affected by the previous years trading to have 4 in the team on Sunday and 3 of them being best 22 a good effort from Mackie, Wells and team to identify talent.

As for previous comments in here. JUST LOL Tian. LOL.

Amazing. You do get good players in like Smith and Cameron etc. But your drafting is top rate. You traded 1 position with ess and ended up with O’Sullivan and Mannagh. Crazy good.

If this draft was such a blinder for the Cats then you and catshadows don’t need to have such a meltdown over Joel Freijah being better than Lawson Humphries.

Didn’t realise Mannagh was picked so high. Assumed he was a rookie/ssp/mid season draft pick because of his age.

Just heard Johno's take on SEN of his the top 10. He had a some different calls, looked to be very performance so far based over potential, had Harley at 10 and Logan Morris at 1.

Doing it that way obviously benifits players who ended up at strong clubs to start their careers as they have more support to help them perform.

One of the glaring omissions going off his method, I think is Calsher Dear. They address Connor O'Sullivan saying he is playing catch up since he is behind on games played.

Since he has been out injured this year he has completely forgotten about Dear's 2024, not even a mention.

Bit early to do a top 10 redraft but if you had one of those picks and you were after a forward you would be absolutely content if picked Calsher Dear. His hops, how he reads the flight of the ball, his timing and the tin arsey marks he does on the regular.

Is it too soon? Of course! We're a third of the way through Season 1. But we've seen how certain players have looked against grown men. Some guys have definitely put their hand up as being good selections. Here is my top 10:

1. Harley Reid
2. Jed Walter
3. Colby McKercher
4. Darcy Wilson
5. Caleb Windsor
6. Zane Duursma
7. Ethan Reid
8. Jake Rogers
9. Will Graham
10. O'Sullivan
No Dan Curtin in you top 10 is interesting...

Isn't this a prediction?
Is it really that egregious when the single game he had played, he hadn't impressed?

I probably would have still put him in the list. But he was a fairly raw and unknown quantity when drafted. Who knew if he was going to translate to a real player straight away.

Don't think there's a need to get your knickers in a knot with an old list.
