Where does pick 11 come from? According to Lore's pin table, GC have 11 and Melbourne have 14.

Dees board want to trade up to GC 11 then hit us up for 3.

They'll end up with a shit tonne of 2nd rounders they don't want.

I'd entice em to swap out their F1 with one of our F19's.

Then find 'Clarry's' local and shout a bar tab all year.

REID WANTS TO SPEARHEAD REBUILD

Highly-rated No.1 draft prospect Harley Reid has pledged to help rebuild whatever club picks him next month – whether that is West Coast or North Melbourne – as he looks to make an instant impression on AFL football next season.

The much-talked about 18-year-old says he wants to reward the club that picks him and play a role in helping them return to finals footy as soon as possible.

“If it is West Coast or if it is North (Melbourne), I would love to get in there and influence the team to turn them around and be a part of the process that puts them back into finals footy,” Reid said on SEN.

“Obviously, there are all those little percenters in earning respect (which come into it) … (but) I feel like I would love to be a part of a team that is not there at the moment. I would love to be a part of the process to (help) turn them around.”

Reid has long been talked about as the best player in the 2023 draft pool, with West Coast holding the No.1 draft pick but with North Melbourne – at picks 2 and 3 and a wealth of other good selections – capable of doing a trade or a deal to secure the teenager from Tongala.

He once again dismissed suggestions he had ever said he was not keen to play for the Eagles, saying: “You know what you said, your manager knows what you said, West Coast know I didn’t say it … it is a crazy trade period, who knows what will happen.”

Reid played for a variety of teams in 2023 including with Carlton and Essendon’s VFL sides, saying he copped it from a few AFL-listed players.

“I copped it a bit, to be honest (in) the Brisbane-Carlton game,” he said. “(It was Lion) Rhys Mathieson … he gave it to me. He was feeding me with, ‘Who am I?’.”

I ****ing love this kid already.
Get him in North.

Unless they're on a best Vanilla Slice tour I think they might be up to something…
The Vanilla Slice promotion industry is a puzzling one. From what I can gather just about every bakery in regional Victoria has at some point had their produce voted "Victoria's best Vanilla Slice", and I never know who to believe. I love a Vanilla slice and I'm willing to drive hundreds of kilometres to get the best, but I'm also sceptical that I may be being lied to.
So I'd be interested to hear Clarko's views after his recent trip.
Also, is it better to always have the best Vanilla slice, or can having both the second and third best outweigh the value of having the best?

He would be a great get for us but I just don't see how West Coast don't take him with pick one.

with pink and nuon it starts to provide us depth, would like another developing kpd from the draft as these 2 might be busts. Either that or a couple KFP in the draft with Comben going back

There’s a bakery near me that claims to have the ‘Best Vanilla Slice in Melbourne’. I was in there one day getting lunch when a woman came in and in a surprisingly aggressive manner demanded to know how they could justify such a claim. The poor girl behind the counter calmly explained that they believe that they do have the best slice etc. Angry woman then said in a shitty tone “well give me one then”. Then in an admirable attempt to keep a straight face the reply came “sorry Madam, we have already sold out today. You’ll have to come back another day. Is there anything else we can help you with?”. Cue grumpy customer stomping out of shop. Me giving her a cheeky grin as she exited didn’t seem to help😁

Slightly controversially these are more your French Vanilla slice which may be an issue for some in the snot block community. There’s many other hills that I’m prepared to die on rather than this one.

There are more "Vanilla Slice of the Year" bakeries in regional Victoria than there are actual years since European settlement!

A bit like every year's draft boasting a "generational talent" and in a good year, sometimes two! 🤪

Random thought, but if Essendon's desperation for Duursma is real, then I'd be entertaining moving down if they can get their hands on Pick 7 from GWS.

Basically if they are able to move up from 9 to 7, then we'll work with them to get them from 7 to 3.

The reason is that it basically means we are weighing up two options.

1) Curtin at Pick 3
2) O'Sullivan at Pick 7 + Essendon's first pick next year.

You could then give Essendon's pick to WC for 1, which means that we'd swap a McKercher and Curtin combination for Reid and O'Sullivan. That's probably the tamest trade suggestion for Reid I've seen that is somewhat realistic.

If O'Sullivan goes earlier, then it means one of Curtin, Watson, or Sanders are available. I think the club would be happy with any of those three. I know people on here hate the perception of helping another club out, but I think that's a good option unless we are in love with either Duursma or Curtin.

They are obviously going up to Bilsons Brewery to get their Christmas advent calendar 🙄

Guys think rationally please, stop spreading lies
My daughter came home with 1 of them last night but I’m not sure it will be enough to get her through to Christmas

Warrigal Road, Cheltenham?

*best caramel milkshake tour
That can't be a thing.

I confess that I did used to drink caramel milkshakes, and even lime spiders (and one time, coke in a glass with vanilla ice-cream as a dare).

Vanilla slices are pretty good but it's over 10 years since I had one (incidentally, from some bakery on the way to Echuca that claimed to be Australia's best but it was only OK).

But in retrospect, caramel milkshakes are an abomination as are blue heaven and strawberry.

Even as a fully grown man, a nice Fanta spider brings Kraks back to his childhood in rural WA

You lost me at “work with Essendon”.

In the other hand I guess no-one would see that collaboration coming.

In theory that's a good thing. We didn't get sucked into a bidding war for Chol or pick #4 so hopefully this is a sign we retreat if the terms don't suit us.
I think it's a bit early for to know who's going to be available at 11 vs 15. If we wish to do these sort of pick swaps it can wait until after the trade period. No hurry.
If we do it now we risk wasting pick 21 for no material gain as the player we want may not be available anyway

My team were working in Packhanam about 40 years ago, and we went to the bakery for morning tea. In the display behind glass were some cream buns. One was about twice the size of all the other buns. One of the guys asked for a cream bun. The girl selected one of the small ones - the guy quickly asked for the big one. Her response was that everyone has been asking for that one but she is not allowed to sell it.

We had to find another place for morning tea after that.

And back then the choices were very limited so we were all annoyed at being banned from the bakery.

I have wondered about this though.

Is the idea that he won't dilute the McKay compo because
1) he's played one senior game and he's on their rookie list, so his market value isn't perceived to be substantial, or
2) if he does have perceived value, it would effectively be cancelled out Goldy leaving, or
Do we just throw Richmond a token future fourth rounder?

I don't think unrestricted free agents count towards compensation calculations. I could be wrong...
