I'm sure it was a nice sugar hit. I don't think overrunning an undermanned GC in Tassie has got us any closer to a winning culture though.

It's all done now and good to break a losing streak but I don't agree with it being a boon for the club.
I am pretty sure we where more under manned than them. And its not about being a boom for the club but more so for some players like for eg Ford 1st win Goldie last win in our jumper. Even 1 win can make a difference in the long term in my opinion.

Reckon drafting Reid at pick one would have gotten more aus kickers excited about north than Eddie fords and norths dead rubber win
Lol.
Yeah right
My 6, 8 and 13 do not give a f$#k about the who we draft. Only old men with too much time on their hands do.
My kids want to see us win. A winning culture builds long term success.
What good did all those number one picks do for Carlton?
A win does so much more for the culture and the overall buy in of players into clarko’s game plan.

Wasn't rejected, just didn't move the Eagles. And it was two of the teens picks, I don't think we know for sure if 15 was one of them

Mr Gettable reiterated tonight that he didn't say either of the north or demons offers had been rejected.... they were just not taken up and as such still on the table

Yes.

And I've already somewhat stated it on this board and was dragged for it. We'll see if I was right but I have a feeling most fans aren't going to like it.

I see. So you’re thinking it will be 2 and 3 for 1 and 11?

So we’d be going in with 1,11,15,17,18?

Edit: the above assuming we don’t try and move up

I recall exactly the same comments about 'benefit to the players...winning culture....' after we beat Brisbane in the final round of 2017 - and look how that worked out for both teams.

The reality is that the win against GC will count for nothing as soon as the new season starts. If the players needed that win to 'train harder' 'provide motivation' then we have the wrong players.
That worked out better than people give it credit.

We missed finals the next year because of the GC swimming regatta game and JZ missing some crucial kicks in crucial games, that's all. After everyone expected us to finish bottom four again.

The following year after a shit start we went on to win 10 of 15 games including beating the Premiers in 2019 by over six goals and we smashed the losing side in the 2018 GF.

Covid and the hub brought an end to all that but after that game (which got us LDU anyway) it could be argued the cultural benefits had us playing above our level until the hub and covid broke everything.

I really don't know what else we were supposed to do against Gold Coast, they were f***ing woeful.
Would've had to pull 2009 Melbourne style hijinks to lose that one.
Then watch Clarko and Viney be suspended for "not tanking" and another disrupted year.

It's not like we weren't trying for the whole period in the 20 game streak. There were several games we could've and should've won, but failed because we had no clue how to win. We got an easy kill against the Suns and took advantage

That would be insanity.

The swimming regatta game was a night to remember.
Had a shower in the motel afterwards to dry off

Exactly, we'd be even more ****ed if we had've picked Rayner at 1 instead of LDU at 4.
