They really need to reimplement the number of draft picks = number of spot on your list rule.

You shouldn’t be allowed to match a high bid with absolute garbage selections.

Would also allow academy prospects to be taken by non academy teams.

Just get rid of the stupid 20% discount

Just get rid of the points all together.

If you want to match three first round bids on academy prospects, you have to plan ahead and trade for those picks.

Just make the trade period like it is in the NFL. If you aren't signed by the time your contact is up then you're able to choose where you want to go without compensation to the club you're leaving.

Love all the hope and optimism in this thread each year but reality says that those in charge of list management are the same people who gave longterm deals to Luke McDonald, Callum Coleman-Jones, Charlie Lazzaro and Tristan f***ing Xerri

I think other clubs will have better packages with 1sts (Dees/Dogs/GWS/Crows/Bombers), multiple 2nds (Dogs/Dees/Crows) and/or future 1sts for GC pick 6.
I think you would prioritize highest future 1st pick possible if you're GC and then points for the current year.

That’s where our future first would appeal to them better than most

Me no likey trades for Grundy. Verrrry long contract and Pies lost nothing when he left; it actually coincided with their rise to the top.

Low key repeating my thoughts earlier, but the Bombers bloke in Bryant… that’s worth trading for.

They rate him really highly. Would be a futile exercise

This might just be a side effect of hanging out with Irish lads here, but I'd love if we went super left field and had a crack at David Clifford from Kerry in the GAA.

He's a decent size (191cm) with some genuine pace and a great leap on him. Apparently he knocked back the AFL when he was a junior, but he's the best player in the league now and won the all-ireland in 2022, so might be more inclined to give footy a shot now, especially if he can score a good contract and set himself up for life.

I honestly think he could be an absolute star at CHF if he came over.

Don’t sell the GAA short
Some ridiculous talent there and Kerry produces quality players very year

How does this work if you have pick 6 and someone bids pick 12
Use future firsts or plan to get more first rounders.

So basically your future first would be in deficit to make up the points for pick 12.

Mate just looked up his stats he’s averaging 7.44 disposals, .56 goals, 2.44 marks, 2.78 tackles, 2.0 1%.
To me he needs to improve a hell of a lot has he got that improvement in him that’s the question.
Yes and in one of those games he played for five minutes, had one possession and then broke his leg. IE Those stats are misleading and lower his averages significantly (ie by 2 or 3 possessions a game) because of that injury.

The stats I quoted didn't include that game.

I love this idea but North's player development is so bad that we can't turn junior footballers into AFL players let alone a someone who has never played the sport. We'd ruin the poor lad.

What has been bad does not always need to be so.

I'd expect it's an area Clarko and Viney would be all over.

Yes it is and everyone would agree, just
Xerri - Cola amd Coleman John are worse.
Much worse.

And I saw some of Free in the VFL now im not saying he can’t kick because he clean missed the ball. He should have been penalized for throwing or dropping.

So unless we can find someone else Goldy may play another 100 games for us

Xerri just needs a go.

80% ruck time for 30 games and we'll have a player.

One last 2024 best 22 naval gazer from me for a little bit.

We really need to find a way to inject at least 3 new defenders into our best 22. Ideally 4.

In terms of servicing immediate needs and creating competition for spots across the ground, I would distribute our draft capital along the following lines:

Pick 2 - Curtin
Pick 3 - Watson
NGA - Sanders

Pick 16 - Riccardi (with GWS 3rd rounder coming back)

R3 - Fisher
R3 - Stephens
R3 - Grundy
F3 - Graham / Melican / Smith
R4 - Clark

9 players added.

Round 1:

Clark - Graham/Melican/Smith - Curtin
Fisher
- Corr - Sheezel
Scott - Wardlaw - Stephens
Zurhaar - Riccardi - Simpkin
Watson - Larkey - Curtis

Grundy - LDU - Thomas

Goater - Comben - Phillips - Powell

Depth: McDonald, Sanders, Ford, Stephenson, CCJ, George, Archer, Bergman, Drury, Goldie, Tucker, Xerri

Delistings: McKay, Edwards (r), Hall, Bonar, Dawson (r), Cunnington, Ziebell, Turner (r), Free (r), Mahony, Shiels (r), Young, Spicer, Howe (r), Perez.

15 players delisted, 9 from main list. Could (re)rookie a couple of these.

That’s a big call from you Handsome.

I just don't think we can go into another season and delay Xerri's development.

Statistically he is already a very impressive young ruckman, with a clean run in the ruck his numbers would improve further, but if he actually clicked and got the confidence to dominate in the AFL like he has in the VFL, we're talking about a better and younger ruckman than Grundy.

I was being facetious but we do have a very large sample size of not being able to develop players. You'd hope Clarko and Viney are all over it but until I see a change this offseason I'll reserve my judgement.

You are overlooking 1 thing here.

He's playing as a second ruckman.

Often his ruck contests are against Jack Silvagni and Mitch Owen types when clubs play 1 ruckman.

Goldstein takes the #1 ruck role. He still rucks the bulk of the CBA's against the opposing #1 ruck.

There's a hell of a lot more to beiong a ruckman than a hitout win %. Your highlight there is the perfect example, those similar players with a high hitout win %, he has by far the lowest hitouts to advantage %.

The game against Melbourne being the perfect example, 70% of his ruck contests were against Jacob Van Rooyen. The week before, 60% of his ruck contests were against Jack Williams and Jack Darling.

He played without Goldy against Hawthorn and got his ass handed to him by Reeves and Meek.

If anything, his hitout to advantage % numbers are absolutely horrific given the ruckman he is often competing against.

He's also a slow, clumsy, butterfingers, dinosaur around the ground.

Saying he's a better ruckman than Grundy is laughable.

Yes please and thanks

Email the club and Brady

Only thing I’d change is that Perez is kept on senior list for another year at least
