Not getting a key back with that pick? No to Curtin?
I just said the same thing. I doubt Clarko was even talking about Curtin but could definitely be a 4d chess move going on - Curtin not a priority or indeed we may have an other KPP lined up...

It seems the The Dees might be looking into trading Grundy and only has 3 suitors...Sydney, Port Adelaide and Geelong are believed to be the teams inquiring about Grundy.

Come on North , get your act together. We no doubt could offer something better than those 3 clubs for Grundy...

Grundy is a good player but he's 29, he's not coming to a bottom four team next couple of years and they'd want too high a draft capital for him that we would be negligent to give that up at this point in the build. We should be targeting somebody not getting a look in at another club who can ruck for a decade with our young midfield. If we need an established ruck in 3-4 years you make that trade at that point when more rucks would be keen to come.

I think by "key back to replace him" he means to step right in and do what Ben does.

Correct... a lot of people on here seem to think you hit the draft and get results straight away... takes time particularly talls. Six draftees won't fix us... a couple at the pointy end and then the rest of the focus on the mature agers...

I’ve said it before, straight swap GC pick 4 with our future first. They don’t need it and we get a year ahead.

If we’re still drafting top 4 kids next year I’ll vomit.
I got news for ya. We will be bottom 4 next year, likely bottom two but with 4-6 wins. 2025 is more likely the year we rise up out of the bottom 4 imo.

Yep.

He has close to zero draft value to us, if we could do it with basically money only no problems have at it.

Imagine what we could have gotten for BBB if Clarko had have been here, imagine what we wouldn’t have paid for CCJ if Clarko had have been here.

I shall leave it at that and let you all stew on it [emoji41]

Is that the BBB that we would still be paying 850k for? Think we have one more year? The one that has only played 7 games this year?

Nah that’s the BBB that would have netted us a pick in the teens because Clarko is a genius 💵💵💵

He's quality all over. Goldy is nearly 36. Xeri is coming on VERY slow. We need Grundy, full stop. 30 doesn't mean alot in modern footy. 33 is what 30 used to be.
Need is a very strong word. We could absolutely use him next year and he would make us instantly a better team. You'd want to be giving up very little after 3 bottom finishes though. Zero guarantee he would be on the list for any useful push.

Yeah, that was my read too, rarher than an indication we are definitely picking a mid there.

(We will pick a mid there though)

He’s 30 coming off a serious PCL injury so bad that the incumbent club traded him 12 months after he extended with him. Does he impact winning? The pies went from mid tier to top 4 after his departure.

He’d actually hamper our ability to take on dumps and further improve the list. I can’t fathom after having the Polec years that we’d want to take on around 1m of salary for this player.

There has never been mention of a mil... pies will still have to pay their 350k or whatever it is... we would need to cover 600k being the dees portion

I might be wrong, but I’m fairly sure the Pies salary deal sits with the Dees only (as in if the Dees trade him, the Pies are off the hook).

I have a few football related issues with Grundy.....1/ I think his tapwork is over rated, mostly bashes it forward into space rather than serves it up on a platter. 2/ No value to the Dee's as been sent back to Casey to try to improve his forward work. Now put him in our team, still needs to work on his forward work. X certainly isn't a forward as well. So what's the point of putting so many years work into X, and then bring in a 30 yo Ruckman after an injury interrupted season for X......he just isn't getting developed. So it doesn't solve anything unless you get a great trade offer for X bring in Grundy and have your heart set on a ruckman in the draft who you think can play ruck and forward, and be the number 1 ruck from 2026 on. Basically means we need to start developing young ruckman all over again. And CCJ certainly doesn't inspire any confidence as either a ruck or a forward at this stage.
