Strange one.

Can't imagine he's scouting one of the Carlton guys, they aren't available until the end of the year and there will be plenty of vision of them. No one jumps out that played as a OOC priority.

You'd think he might be looking at a Port player, potentially for the MSD.

Ethan Phillips makes the most sense Tyreece Leiu probably the only one worth a look from Carlton VFL side.

I reckon we'd just wait till end of year to pick up nick watson in the draft

if you wanted a ready made one we could easily just pick up lowson from our vfl team
The draft is still a gamble, I’d rather pick up ready made with mid season on a six month contract and then cross the fingers for Mr Watson at years end, highlights wise he looks special.

Edit: I was just reading up on Lowson and Clarko picked the wrong kid to help him build his deck. Lowson would’ve done it in half the time and started on the sleepers for the garden bed.

Our boy hunter Clark with 26 touches will be very handy off a wing and rotating hbf also next year for us

Also I’d draft Lowson mid season

Ready made small forward that could make immediate impact and still be around for several years

us winning and clarko at the helm should help us attract elite players.

Wouldn’t be too confident. Has stated that this year has been like having a fresh start without having to leave the club.

I didn’t watch last nights Saints game; obviously it clashed with Norths. But from the game vs Freo, he looked pretty slow with his ball use in congestion pretty poor. Not sure if he’d be a net positive to our side off half back or wing (he wouldn’t / shouldn’t play inside mid for us).

You can argue whether l've got the right positions for players - l gave Jack and Shiels the utility posi because l reckon Clarko swings them where he needs an experience voice.
I don't think we need any more Mids or Med-Forwards and the HB-Wingers could interchange with the Mids and Med-Forwards and Med-Defenders.
Look vulnerable at the Tall-Forwards which highlights the necessity for CCJ & Edwards to come on as Forward-Rucks.
We do look vulnerable at Tall-Defenders if McKay leaves or get multiple injuries.
Far to say we don't have any recognized small defenders and the small forwards aren't exactly setting the VFL let alone the AFL world on fire.

nice analysis however of this list id have archer in the small defender category, drury also probably belongs there as well as hes played all pre season down back

Our boy hunter Clark with 26 touches will be very handy off a wing and rotating hbf also next year for us

Also I’d draft Lowson mid season

Ready made small forward that could make immediate impact and still be around for several years

us winning and clarko at the helm should help us attract elite players.

I reckon that race is run.

Saints have turned over a new leaf and Ross has always been a players coach, players who have played under him, love him.

Ontop of which, St Kilda will want Ports R1 pick, which I think will be better invested in a specialist position at the draft.

If we are targeting anyone, it should probably be Shaun Darcy, given there already seems to be some game time issues there with him and Jackson.

I'd be better offering it for the next jordan dawson or lachie neale.

This may sound odd, but I’d only be looking at free agents.

You can’t afford to throw draft capital away - we see the hole that just once trading away a first rounder can bring.

Now we have 4 in 2 years. Keep them all, build and build. We’ve got some pretty ****ing pivotal pieces in sheezel LDU, Larkey.

Let’s find the role players that make you a premiership side.

Can already see that freo are going to be in pain after offering up so much for Jackson.

We’ve got a nice core, however it’s not finished and we need to keep adding extra

I agree with you, it was only really a discussion point.

I 100% think we should be going to the draft, I'm also of the opinion this is the year we trade our future R1 into the 23' draft.

If we hit this draft with 3 picks in the 5-12, we probably complete the rebuild.

Especially with a mix of 3 of the likes of A.Reid, Caddy, Philactides, Watson, McKercher. KPP's, small forwards, damaging half backs/wings. All specialist roles that we can afford to do given what we have invested in the midfield to date.

Start focusing on the FA and mature markets from 2024 onwards.

im happy to throw a future second rounder at hunter clark who the saints have no leverage with this year

and focus on free agents like Himmelberg and gresham

I notice Jiath could be on the chopping block this week for the Hawks, with their board having him as a consistent one they want out to make a statement.

Now, that is a player I would be very willing to have a look at with some draft currency at the end of the year if he gets disgruntled during this year.

No idea of his relationship with Clarko, but you would think it couldn't hurt....

I’d love him at the Roos! Absolute weapon off half back.

Sean Darcy.

Can't imagine he would be thrilled playing forward for bunches of games for the foreseeable future.

He grew up in Cobden as well, we all know who the mayor of Cobden is......

I'd happily ship off one of CCJ or Xerri if it meant we could target Darcy. He was tracking to be a top 5 ruck in the comp last year and the Jackson pairing obviously isn't working well at the moment.

I can't believe we passed on Jye Menzie in the MSD when we needed a small forward with scoring power, what an absolute freebie. Has looked the goods for the bombers up forward and already leapfrogged Snelling on the depth chart.
