The Harry McKay that recently signed on till 2028?

Yeah lets make it happen. Renegotiate the contracts and get him so we have two Harry's and two McKay's in the best 22. Lets gooo.

Watching goldy get dominated by reeves and meek makes it clear to me that we need an a grade ruckman at some point in the next 2-3 years to compliment our mids.

Obviously trading for one is the way to go.
lot of clubs going at Tom De Koning to be that future star ruckman

id give them Xerri and a future first rounder throw in bailey scott as a freebie

Wouldn’t be giving up a first rounder for him personally don’t think he’s shown enough to warrant the speculated contract or trade value. I don’t think there’s any recent history to back up that spending big on a ruckman is ever worth it. Too much supply of good ruckmen on the market.

If we were to target a ruck, it should be Ned Moyle, dominant at VFL level despite being only 21 this year and no where near getting in GC afl side with Witts there. Doubt Gold Coast would trade him but with Ethan Read looking like a promising ruckman in their academy, they might consider it for the right value. He’d probably be more worth it than De Koning at their respective values.

This! He is a genuine monster at 204cm and 104kg too. I think he is contracted until the end of 2024 though.

Xerri’s injury is probably what I’m most frustrated with re. the team atm. That and TT.

The plan was clearly to give him an extended block of games with a solid mix of emerging and experienced mids underneath him.

We should be finding out if he’s got what it’s going to take right now, at his bollocking and blocking best he might’ve made a difference on Saturday, Goldy got smacked.

the CCJ injury is just as annoying

goldy is done but is lucky both are injured, thankfully it sounds like ccj could be back this week

2023 Trade Recap:

Gold Coast: #36 (Geelong), 2024 Round 3 (Geelong)

Geelong: #4 (Originally Adelaide), Ben King
Not to mention the generous draft assistance package the AFL is probably already putting together to correct the 0-3 run they are currently on. It is only fair, there are children with birth dates as far back as October last year that weren't born the last time they played finals!

Our lack of KPP depth is gonna hurt us on the salary negotiation table.

Interested if anyone knows a way to query league-wide lists?

I'd be curious how our number of key position height/position players compares across the league. My hunch is most teams have a couple of developing KPFs and 1x KPD in their VFL side but it's unproven.

Am aware of Jacob Edwards but there's no Nick Larkey or Majak Daw building up back there as backfill if needed.

4 rucks will probably skew us.

We have two genuine KPFs and two genuine KPDs 😬

Edit: you can use filters on the AFL stats website

I think we got CCJ over as a fwd/ruck.

So larkey, Comben and CCJ, with Edwards developing, which he was always going to take years.

Backline; McKay 202cm. Corr 196cm. Logue 194cm. Kid Kallan 196cm

Not often you miss both Fullback and CHB.

Although I'm not sure which KP's we've overlooked recently that would have assisted us?

Melb- Gawn, Grundy, Farris-White, Petty, Lever, May, Tomlinson, Turner, Brown, Van Rooyen, McDonald, Jeferson, Schache

CCJ was brought over as a ruck. Doubt we honour that. Edwards drafted as a ruck.

Corr, Dawson are third talls who can pinch hit.

Van Rooyen was overlooked, and while I agree with the Phillips drafting we did overlook a key forward around that ball park.

With ruckmen and Fritsch removed and Corr added in.

10 vs 8. Closer than I'd have guessed.

Cold day in hell when we're banking on CCJ as a KPF though.
