I’d consider it
I imagine if GC were open to trading out pick 4, they would need something like the Port pick coming back at least, in order to minimise the 2024 deficit for the academy kids, even if we agreed not to bid on Walters for 2.

I wouldn't be agreeing to that. **** them, bid away I say.

For what benefit?

If the club decide they want Curtin, McKercher and Watson, getting that done would be a greater priority than making GC cough up maximum draft points, no?

I haven't paid a lot of attention to Hollands since the draft, but the entire situation has massive Paul Ahern/Aiden Bonar vibes to it.

Hollands was never the best athlete, but you figured at the time his IQ and skills would be enough for him to succeed. A bit similar to Sheezel in that regard. So far he is struggling to have a great impact and you have to wonder why. The ACL is obviously a factor, but it was far enough back that he should have fully recovered.

I think you know the answer to that, could easily be pick 1 or 2 again.
I do, but I was interested in other valuations of him.

The port pick would be his worth as a former high pick bring shopped around.

ACLs are always bad imo chances of reoccurrence are high

I think other clubs will have better packages with 1sts (Dees/Dogs/GWS/Crows/Bombers), multiple 2nds (Dogs/Dees/Crows) and/or future 1sts for GC pick 6.
I think you would prioritize highest future 1st pick possible if you're GC and then points for the current year.

They would be after future picks you would imagine.

We should really be working on the logic our first rounder next year is the desirable asset. They need to reduce their list heavily, they need to keep draft points. A good player and their 2023 first rounder is a good trade for what should be a top 3 pick and we slide them past a pick or two before bidding on Jed Walter (if at all). I'm sure there can be little sweeteners here and there.

Even if we do a little better than expected next year they'll have a nice tradeable asset early next year.

Someone mentioned just last yesterday our lack of a ’get out of trouble pack marker’ or some such .
It use to be Waite and Daw. And Maj was only for a short period of course.

Honestly if CCJ could just hold a mark and his body position he'd be great at that role.

Our inability to contest around the ground is a huge issue.

Totally agree.

Yes, but I think they need just enough draft capital this year so they don't have a significant deficit next year too.

So say "we rate Jed Walter fourth" in this draft, but otherwise the players will be selected in the order of Twomey's latest phantom draft.

Picks on the left side are GC's current picks.

Picks on the right side are the points required for Walter, Read and Rogers.

Feel free to correct my maths and my understanding of draft concessions here, but I think the 20% discount for the academy kids would mean they require 3931 points.

So if we do the F1 trade, and their pick 4 becomes pick 15, they would have 3761 points for Walter, Read and Rogers.

Their 2024 deficit would only be 170 points, or the equivalent of pick 58 - a fourth rounder.

As much as I love Goldy.

It's time.
Yes it is and everyone would agree, just
Xerri - Cola amd Coleman John are worse.
Much worse.

And I saw some of Free in the VFL now im not saying he can’t kick because he clean missed the ball. He should have been penalized for throwing or dropping.

So unless we can find someone else Goldy may play another 100 games for us

Mate before he broke his leg he would have been averaging about six disposals a game maybe one mark ( l haven’t got the stats so I’m going on memory) I reckon he has along way to go before he’s a star
He was averaging 9 disposals, nearly 2.5 marks a game, as many spoils/1%ers and three tackles per game. Hasn't even played 10 games yet.

The main thing here is that they don't need extra points. I've seen offers here and from other fans that they can give them 300 more points by trading picks 17, 24 and 35 for pick 4, or whatever.

Right now they'd match all bids with 4, 26, 28, 42, 45, 56.
After that trade they are matching with 17, 24, 26, 28, 35, 42, 56.

The trade isn't helping them. Its costing them a list spot.

With the good talent in the draft and our major list cull in the works it's more important than ever for North to load up on as many first rounders as we can.
Trade next years first for one in the top 10 this year and load up on fantastic talent now.
Can always trade into next year's draft by giving up a couple of picks or using a future first anyway.
Doubt we'll be close to delisting 10+ next year so there will be less demand for picks.

Well if we take Graham and Hollands off their hands, that's two free list spots! Might as well add Burgess too, since he isn't getting a gig anytime soon. So that's three. :moustache:

Discounting their rookies, how many of these OOC players do you think they will re-sign?

Constable
Sharp
Berry

Flanders might go too?

(Casboult, Davies and Day probably re-sign?)
