Says a lot when the two best back and forths we've had all year have both been with Essendon supporters, doesn't it.

Define "best"...............

150th was great.

This was like pulling teeth..........

My guess is that the eventual off list will be?

1. Adams
2. Allison- although contracted for 1 more year
3. Bytel
4. Campbell-dependant on a replacement?
5. Connolly
6. Gresham-has to be gone now, dragging on & annoying
7. Highmore
8. Howard- dependant on, if we can get good compo. for him & a risk of lacking KPD depth if we let him go.
9. McKenzie- not looking good for him, but hoping, like Jones, that they give him another season.
10. Peris

Hope the Draft thread heaps up like this, the GF build up is balls

Just got told on the Ess board that Shiel isn’t 31 yet. Gonna play heaps of footy for us before his birthday on March 9 FMD
It’s funny when they ignore the second journo reporting similar to Ralph across the last 48 hours.

Sam Edmund on sen the other day -

Dylan Shiel (Essendon) & Jade Gresham (St Kilda)

“The theory is, as reported in the Herald Sunyesterday, Essendon has an abundance of midfielders and Dylan Shiel turns 31 in March.

“He’s coming off a 12-game season and coming into the last year of his contract on a decent wage. This was his big six-year deal when crossing from the Giants when Carlton came hard for him.

“St Kilda aren’t interested in keeping Jade Gresham despite what they say publicly. He’s also well paid, and they need more midfield support.

“Gresham would leave as a free agent and because Essendon would pay him enough it gives St Kilda either a first-round or end of first-round compensation pick. It would be 13 given their first pick is 12, or at the end of the first round of course.

Then the trade period sometime later, St Kilda send a pick back to Essendon for Shiel. The theory goes it could be that same pick that they use in the Gresham deal. List managers I’ve spoken to said they would be floored if the Saints gave up a first-rounder for Shiel.

“They’ve got 31 so it would be more likely that the Saints would give up 31, or that second-round pick for Shiel and Essendon allow it given the Saints would be taking on Dylan Shiel’s wage at the same time.

“Essentially it’s a pick buy. St Kilda will be buying a pick here.”

It’s like doing cool wrestling moves on the younger sibling, but that sibling is already crippled from the last backyard wrestling match

Dealing with Injectington is like ****ing a pocket love tunnel stuffed full of thumbtacks.

You went in with high hopes, only to suffer enormously and never get it done.

No thanks. I don’t give a tuppenny **** who they’re peddling.

As assumption is Essendon have a relationship with which to trade with, I have it on good authority that it is active derision and avoidance from at least 3 clubs, straight no relationship, avoid like the plague whilst the Dodo is there as just not worth it to deal with that club. It's not such a bad thing to burn that bridge, we would not be the first if we did.

There's notoriously difficult because you have competence and everyone wants "something" to hang a hat on, for the reports I got from those clubs, this is more obstinate and refusal to spend that short time period speaking to a literal wall. That gets infuriating when only one side does work and the other stomps a foot and states "no, 5" 47 times an hour (embellishment).

Also, restricted agent v bloke who turns 31 early next year, stating it'd be surprising or weird if we gave a first for a trade is sugar coating it, we would do literal damage to our trading image and look incompetent if we did that. Other clubs would love that, would mean easy pickings much like dealing with GWS like Bombers have done the past 8 years. Even worse than Carlton at it as Bombers actively trade with them for the twice discarded options also.
