Went from a 7:16 2km in November 2023, to a 7:59 2km today.

Choose one of the following as an answer to your question:

A: Adelaide's conditioning program is so bad that a player's endurance regresses heavily after one year
B: We've seen one of the best examples of dropping a player's draft value to ensure he is bid on cheaply
That’s a really poor 2km time even for someone playing at SANFL level.

The only way is up.

Surely he was tanking...
Not IMO Kane. He was overweight everytime I saw him in the SANFL games with the Crows. That video of the combine showed me he was sadly way overweight. I reckon he has stacked on around 10Kgs. It's not a good look if he was planning to get drafted high. I can see him going in the rookie draft if he was a normal draftee. We'll still take him but he's got plenty of work to do.

Vertical leap and 20m sprint were ok though. Just the tanking endurance test

Lock in B Eddie.

Burgo wouldn't have allowed him to train off, unless he's had a huge month and a half on the food and cans since the SANFL season ended
training is not just about strength and conditioning

as ive been banging on about for weeks our training is substandard to what ive seen here in melbourne

you can all shoot me down as much as you want. ive seen both live and something wasn't right in 2024. maybe in 2025 burgos new men will take more control.... and do it different but this year it was really not sharp and the sanfl team training was absolutely amateur hour

Looks like Tyler struggled to run out the 2km time trial today. Thought his stamina would have improved with 12 months in the system.
Strachan not fit and Tyler not fit

I thought Burgess was meant to be some fitness god

I'll happily shoot you down here. Burgo sets the off season programs

Yeah I agree , players don’t tank . This is their career for the next 12 or so years.
Not sure how / why welsh is so unfit after a year in a professional program. It’s slightly concerning.

It's a poor look. I'd be shocked if we are asked him to tank. It sets a fairly poor set of standards.

I think Tyler is in for a shock next year. He has known for a few years he will most likely drafted but in the AFL world that is only step one. As they always say from day 1 everyone is even. Your AFL career can be over quickly.

So 15 SA boys tested so looking at those numbers some pretty ordinary athletic results it seems outside of the above confirmed results?

The combine results are a complete joke.

Who gives a shit if Tyler Welsh can't run 2km quickly? When has an AFL player ever had to run 2km straight without a break as fast as he can.

Wasn't your boy Ned McHenry elite at the time trial? Best at our club when he arrived - means sweet FA.

I think Jets Running back Braelon Allen (who refused to run the 40 yd dash) summed it up perfectly when he was asked why he fell in the NFL Draft - "Everyone wanted to see me run in my underwear to decide if I was a good football player".

If lalor, draper, langford are gone at pick 4 it would not suprise me if hamish calls tauru over FoS and Jagga thinking he will make him into a midfielder. Its just the sort of shit Hamish pulls.
Tauru is not going in the top 5, it's a made up myth by Twomey because he loves the nickname 'The Flying Viking'. The Crows will not hesistate if FOS is still on the board at pick 4.

Not quite right but I get your sentiment

If they are a complete joke why are all club recruiters there?

It's more about seeing how hard the draftees are prepared to push themselves especially with the 2km run.

Looking at Tyler yesterday he looks like he's been dining out on a mix of Macca's and Vili's since the SANFL season finished. From that recruiters would likely question his self discipline.

Same thing happened with another SA lad a few years ago Will Gould who put on a lot of "condition" between season's end and the Combine....Drafted by the Swans and now back at Glenelg struggling.
