Reading the mongrel punt at they talk about Gulden and the extra attention, all I can think about is Warner. With the rise of Gulden, the addition of Adams, Warner should really get off the leash a bit and put in some breakout performances ontop of what he has already done in the past
This and opportunity for others like Campbell, Sheldrick and Jordon.

My biggest fear with our list is we have a lot of good players but not enough great players.

We are relying on blokes like McDonald, Amartey, McLean to all step up but and have consistency across the season.

Similarly in defence our "key defensive stock" isn't all that crash hot.

We could very well be the equivalent of the 2015 North Melbourne. We'll win some games, we'll even get on a winning streak until we'll face a real contender then look second paced

I think in the end it all comes down to the midfield.

If we get midfield improvement via a combination of the off season additions and natural improvement from younger players, then the two ends of the ground will take care of themselves.

100%. This season when our mids were struggling our makeshift defence held together remarkably well. With less porosity they'll be OK, especially if either Hamling or Melican provide a solid second pillar.
With the sort of service that is possible the forwards could be dynamite. Terrific marking power and handy at ground level.

All great players were "ordinary" players before they became great ones. We have the potential for half a dozen of our current list to become great.

That’s based on the presumption no one improves.

Can't wait until intraclub games start to give us a feel for who has their noses in front in the competition for spots. I reckon these are the ones to watch:
1. Hamill vs Melican for second KPD, Francis as wildcard
2. Fox vs the rest for medium defender
3. Sheldrick vs Roberts for next cab off the rank
4. Campbell vs McInerney vs Jordon for two spots
5. Amartey vs Buller vs Ladhams for third tall
6. Wicks vs Konstanty though Wicks has a big head start
7. Ladhams vs McAndrew for #2 ruck could be a cracker
Unless we change our structure I think these will be the main events. One such change could be to swap Konstanty for Hayward and run Heeney as the third tall. We could see that in intraclub if the coaches wanted to trial it.
I doubt very much we will change our defensive structure but I do hope we adopt a more attacking mindset in the mids. One clue could be if we play Warner more outside.
Pity it's so far from Kiama!

Great points. Imo coaches will stick with the same structure to see how it performs 1. without buddy & 2. with hopefully winning more first touch/contested footy due to Grundy's impact.

I would like to see some a smaller more mobile forward line trialled. Playing Heeney/Hayward as the '3rd' tall rather than Amartey/Ladhams etc.

I've always been an advocate of three talls but I'd like to see the smaller structure trialled too. Campbell and McInerney pushing up into half forward more often could be very interesting.
If Amartey is injured, Buller struggling to make the level and Ladhams off his rocker we might need it.

So I would like some feedback or confidence from others, are we a real chance? I’m worried and scared that now that we are a chance to make/win the GF that will get to our heads? I’m writing this not believing that we’re scared… maybe because I haven’t seen any of the players or SWANS post anything on social media just makes me think I’m lost without. I know we are the greatest… just want some extra hype and faith that we are winners! Let’s go!

We'll know if we're going to win a flag within 3 minutes of the opening bounce on Grand Final Day.

Gees - how do you say this? After 2005 it was til the last mark??
Because in 2 of our last 3 Grand Finals it was obvious we weren't there mentally and in the other it was obvious we weren't allowed to win

IMO absolutely yes. We have a heap of the components BUT a lot has to go right for anyone to win a flag. The top 6 will be very competitive this season and a top 4 finish is very important. Can and will are not the same thing.

We had Great players in 2014 (Goodes, Franklin, JPK, Grundy, Smith, Hanners) like 6-7 calibre AA players there certainly a much better team than recent premiers(Collingwood, Richmond) but it didnt work or function nearly as good as a whole.

Our Grand finals aside from the bravedogs were over before the 10 minute mark of the first quarter.

Makes me very glad that I didn't waste any time/effort or money on grand final tickets.

Only 3 I have ever seen in person :)

The flag was just won with a team that doesn't exactly have a lot of great players
