Already commented on that game.

They only count as dead rubbers once you have top 2 sealed.

5th? Pffffft. That's worse than Collingwood's median finishing position in the last 22 seasons...

By the way, how did you go in that game?
Wait, what? Collingwood's median is top 4 in the last 22 seasons? That is astonishing. Even more astonishing that they only have 2 flags in 30 something years.

lol not even close to the youngest team to play a final since 2010!

He got the stat wrong. It was Saints got more games into teenagers this year than any finalist since 2010.

A bit of a nothing stat but does suggest we've got some good kids coming through. And with 2 of them finishing in the top 5 of our bnf, it also suggests that they were big contributing factors to us making finals instead of just making up the numbers each week.

Sorry, shouldn't have checked the actual stat. Thanks for clearing that up :thumbsu:

But yeah the point is we have good young players. I get that they're not recognised as stars yet for whatever reason which is why a lot of people don't rate us, I just think it's weird how consistently outside the eight people have us when we have just as much chance of improving as going backwards in my opinion.

To be fair, at least they are up to 3 flags in the last 64 years now.
Nice attempt at deflection from you both.

But the facts for Collingwood are:
1 premiership in the last three months;
Equal most premierships in the history of the VFL/AFL;
Most Grand Final appearances in the history of the VFL/AFL;
Most finals wins in the history of the VFL/AFL;
Most games won in the history of the VFL/AFL;
Largest supporter base worldwide of all VFL/AFL clubs.

Collingwood Magpies - the biggest AND the best club in the competition, historically AND currently.

Membrey back and fit should make a huge difference as well. Reliable for at least 30 goals a season plus works really well with King.

Our forward line was a mess for the majority of the season so getting 2 good targets back should mean we aren't the least efficient forward line again.

Really?

A number of Saints fans have taken umbrage at suggestions they won’t make the 8 and want to melt through the thread. Even our Carlton mates have taken it on the chin at suggestions their team won’t make the 8.

No doubt the Saints are in the mix but I don’t see them making the grade.

Sydney has 400k more fans than the Pies.

Port Adelaide is the most successful Club.

aThe Pies and Blues are minnows by comparison.

I dont think it's the suggestion we wont make the 8 that Saints fans have taken umbrage with, more being called 'delusional' and 'clueless' by some posters for thinking we could finish in the bottom half of the 8 again.

If everyone other team who finished in that bracket can be predicted to finish there again without having their mental faculty questioned, then it shouldn't be unreasonable to predict St Kilda could finish there again too.

I also don't think pointing out the improvement possible from our younger players or discussing having our 2 best key forwards and best mid fully fit again is 'melting'. Are we not allowed to bring up different discussion points on the areas we can improve from this years performance to justify why we are predicting a certain ladder position?

Worldwide? You might want to fact check that one.
Port Adelaide is the most successful Club.
I did say history of the VFL/AFL. If you want to reference lower levels, I suspect there are a heap of clubs with even more flags than Port Adelaide. But let's stick to the top flight.
The Pies and Blues are minnows by comparison.
Please, don't group us in with that club. They are nowhere near us.

Most of those Sydney "supporters" still think Adam Goodes plays for them

Is their median really top 4 though? That is astonishing.

Are Collingwood the best club in your lifetime? Which club has won the most VFL AFL flags since you were born? Winning a whole bunch of dodgy flags where you lost the GF but still somehow got the premiership are a bit of a joke.

I took a quick look and it didn't look like their median really was top 4, but I didn't tally it up. Is it true?

Also I am pretty sure the Swans actually have the largest supporter base. Maybe take that one off your list of silliness.

I said 'median over the last 22 years'. If Collingwood have played in 11 Preliminary Finals in that time, the math really isn't that hard to work out.

Oh. So we're reverting to subsets of time now are we?

Nah, I'd rather stick to the present day and/or all of history. I don't subscribe to subsets.
Also I am pretty sure the Swans actually have the largest supporter base. Maybe take that one off your list of silliness.
Again, I'm referring to WORLDWIDE.

And there are 'supporters', 'fans', and those when prompted say 'I live in Sydney, so I guess it's them...'

F. A. C. T.

Most Grand Final losses in the history of the VFL/AFL

Played in 45 GF's and lost in 27!

Do Carlton supporters really think they hit a nerve when they pull out this stat? Really?

Did Carlton supporters enjoy the ride their team gave them this year? Their best season in more than two decades?

Collingwood supporters have been given an even better ride on 43 separate occasions. That's a lot of games of football won. A lot of big finals won. A lot of joy given to, and excitement experienced by, their supporters.

Wowee.
