It's not that astonishing. He's long been one of the best back up, break glass in case of emergency ruckman out there for a long time who doesn't demand much coin.

Contracts are ****ed. I can see the afl stepping in at some stage in the next couple years putting a 5 year maximum in. Clubs need to be saved from themselves.

When did free-agency become so underwhelming? Of the six deals done I reckon only Cumming and Battle walk straight into their new team's best 23.

If you're going to lose a gun these days and you're not a bottom six team you're much better off letting them go before they're free agents. GWS got picks 13, 15 and 20 for Jeremy Cameron and some future seconds. The best they would have gotten for him as a free agent is 12 by itself.

Gotta say, I'm pretty sick of lazy, fringe players being delisted by the club and then going straight onto trade radio insinuating it was all the clubs fault with how they developed etc.

CT may be right that his best footy is elsewhere, but take some responsibility yourself.

McKay is one of the highest paid players on a decent contract in the league, so it made sense.
