Training 2024 training updates.

If the club was going that direction they never would have recruited McStay in the first place. Even in the GF instead of going smaller and more unpredictable we went with Frampton to keep the structure the same and predictable to our players.

We added Schultz because he’s a quality player that will fit with our system. His recruitment isn’t indicative of a style change.

I mean that the club specifically chose Dan because we didn't want a completely dominant forward. We wanted a player to provide a contest. We can do that through Frampton, Cox, Cameron, freddy and Steene if it really concerns you about our lack of height. We went with Frampton to curb Andrews, very different to what you're suggesting. I would love McStay in the side next year but I seriously doubt we can't win the flag without him

I never claimed he can’t be replaced or that we can’t win a premiership without him. Just disagreed on that having a more versatile and unpredictable forwardline being a good thing.

I think it's more a case of other sides making us kick down the line as much as possible. We are pretty good at avoiding it, that's why we like fast footballers with decent endurance

to an extent this is of course true
but in half our games we played for 1Q and played 3Q of boring down the line football to protect the lead. we played a lot of our down the line football by choice. it was boring at times. id be happy if they came up with something else

True. How many fingers do we need to cross to get 15 games and finals out of Krueger? Hes definitely an upgrade on Frampton as a pure forward its just his body is as reliable as Carlton book keeping in the 80s

I’m not sure that’s the case when that’s exactly how we played with McStay in the team.

I wrote him off 3 years ago. He's slow, doesn't hit the scoreboard, averages about 20 disp in the VFL and his disposal is average. Checkers was taken as a back up tall which we needed at the time. He will be the new Blair if he gets chosen, which I highly doubt. He would be just like your username Clayton's, he's he's the player you have when you don't need a player, sort of like Claytons non alcoholic drink

Even without McStay we don’t go a mosquito fleet under Fly so I don’t think we’ll go that way now.

Steene is underrated. Surpassed Begg by the end of last season. We could trial him throughout pre-season but I still think we need extra height.
