You always were respectful on Nicks and the habits of a lifetime are hard to change.Good evening all- this is my first post on Big Footy and I am delighted to be a part of such a respected community of posters.
My name is 'Warburton Lad' and I am a long time contributor to Nick's Collingwood Page.
I am a lifelong Collingwood Member and supporter.
In the past, I have done numerous pre-season updates on Nick's to keep fans of the Black-and-White in the loop about how our team is shaping up. More recently, I have not been able to grace training with my presence (health issues, predominantly) but I take great joy from getting down there when I can.
I am bullish about our prospects in 2024- I don't think we are 'defending' our flag rather, we have a new challenge for this group to stare down and give it our best collective efforts.
I think that 2024 will see a number of senior players truly challenged by 'Next-Gen' Magpies: Carmichael, Allan, Macrae, Begg, Harrison, McInnes, Johnson, and, perhaps: Steene, Dean, De Mattea. I can forsee a possibility that we could have a 2010 like season where Fraser, Medhurst, O'Bree and Lockyer were surpassed by others on the list who became Premiership players under Malthouse.
I do not, for one moment, believe that McRae, Leppitsch, Bolton et al will be swayed by sentimentality in pursuit of our 17th Flag.
To paraphrase a former Australian Prime Minister, for Collingwood to be the first Club to a 17th Flag would be, "The Sweetest Premiership of all..."
I wish all Big Footy posters a very enjoyable season and wish for them success (however that may look for them).
I promise to be a respectful and considered poster and will treat my fellow posters with courtesy and politeness at all times.
Floreat Pica.
Welcome to you,I remember your reports on Nick,s they were 1st rate go well mate.
