Here's a few facts about Footscray's new player Cameron Owen. He's a 203 cm 20 year old rangy ruckman hailing from Tasmania junior footy. He was picked up by Sydney as a rookie in the 2022 draft. Lasted only 1 season before being delisted at the end of last year.
According to draft notes he gets around the field reasonably well, is not overly mobile but can kick a goal when placed forward. Needed to work on his ground level skills and mobility according to observers.
Long term prospect?

Glad we’ll have another forward target and someone to pair with LSmith. Once Lobb goes back to Footscray next week we should be able to play Croft down back

Yeah he is a very raw prospect but the type of player that is worth bringing into the Footscray side.

No forward target to kick to considering KPf unavailability at the club.

I know we're under-manned but that was a very poor 1st quarter by us. We were beaten in the centre and all over the ground really. Busslinger and Baker tried to keep the backline from crumbling. Our forwards, when the ball did get there rarely, were totally ineffective. Garcia is working very hard to show his omission was a mistake but I would like to see him get more depth on his kicks. Perhaps this is one of the reasons he was omitted??
Also, we are very small. So many sub six footers in the team.

second game and learning a new game plan by the way doesn’t help how we have delivered into our forward 50

We were much more competitive in the 2nd particularly our tackling but we turned the ball over too often . Should have made more progress on the scoreboard. Makes it difficult when we don't have one marking forward and rely on a mosquito fleet to try to kick goals. Baker is our best, getting plenty of ball both wing and half back. Garcia doing well around the ball but not having as much impact as we'd expect. Busslinger has made a few errors but generally doing well across half back. Jones made some excellent tackles. Trail by 26.

After not looking like he would trouble the stats sheet, new boy Owen kicked 2 goals from a couple of good marks in the 3rd. Interesting.
