That was during on the night. If memory serves Eagles wanted Chesser, bombers were pick after and wanted to take Sinn, port had pick after Essendon and also wanted Sinn so they traded pick 14 and 2nd rounder to get ahead of bombers to get to 12. Probably is the giants moving put of curtins pick 8 slot thenThat was during on the night. I just don’t think we have seen the blockbuster trades that are being thrown around. What’s the highest pick traded on the night was my thought pattern
Most of the time, such trades are completed during trade week, as the other club/s involved have subsequent trades lined up that also involve players. That was during on the night. Surely the blockbuster trade would have to be just last yearThat was during on the night. This is a historically weak draft though, apparently, just have to factor that in to any calculations you may have presented.Yes but what I'm specifically referring to is where a club hands away a high end draft pick such as a pick 2 for two later picks. Or the talk that the Tiges will potentially swap pick 4 for 2 later first round picks.
I just don't see any historical references to clubs actually giving away top 10 picks that they enter the draft with.
Surely the blockbuster trade would have to be just last year
North trading Pick #4 for 2x 2nd rounders
Trading futures seems less like that. Tigers will be happy because they need midfielders and this draft seems to be abit more heavy for that. They were smart to go for key position players in the previous draft where there was more talent.Surely the blockbuster trade would have to be just last year

I knew everyone online including me was hating on CDT a little bit but Jesus, that is an absolute stinker of a takeThis is a historically weak draft though, apparently, just have to factor that in to any calculations you may have presented.
Which as we sit here, is getting better by the day. Who would you take with our pick? CDT? Is he any better than Goad, Wil Dawson? Please
I'd still take MWhitlock over CDT, and we sure as hell don't need any more early-selected mids.
Under normal BAU conditions it would be terrible, but Norf is hardly BAU.
Curious to what Goad can achieve. He gave me serious Jacob Edwards vibes in his first year. Looked an absolute mile off. Last year the development for him was incredible to the point where he may have played a senior game and was top 10 in VFL BnF. If he continues and develops a contested marking game he could be anything.Well as a pure ruckman, Goad every day of the week. I have no doubt he'll be a top line AFL ruck.
The other guys though....errr no.
Schubert imo is way ahead of Matt Whitlock for talent at the same age as he is a late December kid and 2 more weeks would have not been eligible. Makes a massive difference for big kids especiallyCurious to what Goad can achieve. He gave me serious Jacob Edwards vibes in his first year. Looked an absolute mile off. CDT clearly the better prospect and still the better prospect but Goads upside is as high as anyones.
Dawson still a mile off but has assets which we are hoping he develops.
Whitlock I personally have in a similar draft position to Schubert. Maybe abit more skills but less of a frame and contested work.
If Schubert could kick sure, he can't. MWhitlock is a skilled footballer and at ~198 is more than handy enough. The trade is not nearly as bad in retrospect. It really isn't. Compared to the Daniel Trade it's seriously a walk in the park.Schubert imo is way ahead of Matt Whitlock for talent at the same age as he is a late December kid and 2 more weeks would have not been eligible. There are many versions of the trade , You may look at it like Whitlock/Player v X player butIf Schubert could kick sure, he can't. Stop what? Hes right in some regard. It’s not the worst trade in draft history like some seem to think. It’s not good, but it’s not fold the club bad. It’s just as bad as our off season last yr imopls stop
I mean if you need to feel better by saying North got fleeced do that. I don’t agree but everything like this is just opinion anyway. I see the Daniel trade as North getting fleeced less so the Tigers one. There are many versions of the trade , You may look at it like Whitlock/Player v X player but
#4 could also be traded for say #6 +#21 or you may have traded #4 + #25 for #9+#11
There are so many options North could have done with #4 this year and could have had Schubert & Dovatson
I think it was a bad trade for North any way you look at it.
Wow dont go into knee jerk defence mode dude and has nothing to do with with feeling better about 'fleecing' as we all know it was a sh!t trade by Rawlings its been reported to death but trying to make out a bottom age kid that is expected to be drafted is not as good as the 2nd whitlock selected at #27 and already showed in year 1 he was not upto the level is just silly.I mean if you need to feel better by saying North got fleeced do that. Schubert isn’t miles ahead for me and they play a different game to a large extent. Schubert is a big bodied KPF with ruck skills. I think I would want him to project as Thilthorpe at the next level if he develops. To put on the size to do that will take time and for me he doesn’t look as athletic.
Whitlock was never a forward he was an intercepting back who got shifted forward when his brother went down. Far more skilled below his knees and kicking then Schubert. He also reads the play well. I would like to see him develop as a forward that can use his height and body to keep position but not sure his frame will put on that size.
If we traded that pick but at that point we are going into some massive what ifs. I think we would be more likely to stay and guarantee a Key defender type that we didn’t land 12 months earlier.
He was the first Whitlock selectedWow dont go into knee jerk defence mode dude and has nothing to do with with feeling better about 'fleecing' as we all know it was a sh!t trade by Rawlings its been reported to death but trying to make out a bottom age kid that is expected to be drafted is not as good as the 2nd whitlock selected at #27 and already showed in year 1 he was not upto the level is just silly.
But looks like pointless trying to explain or debate with you
Scares maybe still painful
Cheers![]()
On paper it might have been a bad choice but don't you think we should give it a little time to actually see how good or bad it was, and I'm not sure what some where expecting from a 1st year kpp but he showed a fair bit in the 2nds and got a taste of seniors. So i reckon give it a tad longer to see if it was horrendous or not.Wow dont go into knee jerk defence mode dude and has nothing to do with with feeling better about 'fleecing' as we all know it was a sh!t trade by Rawlings its been reported to death but trying to make out a bottom age kid that is expected to be drafted is not as good as the 2nd whitlock selected at #27 and already showed in year 1 he was not upto the level is just silly.

Yeah my mistake what i meant was he was the 2nd best (According to 90% of rankings) Whitlock selected at #27He was the first Whitlock selected
Yeah 100% give him 5 years to show what he hasOn paper it might have been a bad choice but don't you think we should give it a little time to actually see how good or bad it was, and I'm not sure what some where expecting from a 1st year kpp but he showed a fair bit in the 2nds and got a taste of seniors.
