So you were comparing apples with oranges.
Thanks.
You pick the best talent and unless there are ominous red flags re go home factor that's the way it should always be. Hardly any draftees get drafted to the club they supported as a kid. The high end picks now have 3 year contracts as well.So you were comparing apples with oranges.
A Vic kid who supports Geelong is not the same as an SA kid who barracks for Essendon
One of the most quietly impressive performers across the two Academy games was Harley Barker from SA. In a team with a multitude of players competing for time in their preferred role, Harley played exclusively wing in both games and looked extremely comfortable doing so with attributes very much suited to it. He's tall, rangy and clean in the air which allows him to present down the line as an exit option or for a switch of play, and allows him to impact as a third up in marking contests at either end of the ground. He's a powerful runner with seemingly excellent endurance and has tidy and efficient disposal to help link the play while rarely biting off more than he can handle.
Wouldn't complain, he's been my #2 in this draft for well over a year now. Shouldn't get to us though. He's the one for us but if we keep winning he'll likely be out of our range..191cm big bodied midfielder/forward

CAULFIELD GRAMMAR GUN PRODUCES DANGERFIELD-LIKE PERFORMANCE
Hawthorn list boss Mark McKenzie must have been wondering what could have been as he watched Oliver Greeves tear it up for Caulfield Grammar on Saturday.
The Hawks’ application for Greeves to be included in their Next Generation Academy program was rejected by the AFL earlier this year and his star has only risen ever since.
Greeves – who is a Geelong supporter – said in March that he modelled his game on players like Hawthorn’s Will Day and Melbourne’s Christian Petracca.
Greeves started at the first centre bounce opposed to fellow AFL Academy member Riley Onley and continually provided drive forward for his side throughout the opening half.
The 191cm big-bodied midfielder won numerous clearances, using his brute strength to break tackles and deliver the footy to Caulfield’s forwards.
But he looked more like Cats champion Patrick Dangerfield as he led Caulfield to a 44-point win at Scotch College, individually breaking the contest wide open in the last. Connors Sports duo Paul Connors and Robbie D’Orazio were among the player agents who were buzzing around, while this column spotted recruiters from at least 10 different AFL clubs. They included Hawthorn list boss Mark McKenzie, Richmond pair Blair Hartley and Rhy Gieshen, Carlton’s Michael Agresta and Glenn Luff, Adelaide’s Hamish Ogilvie, Sydney’s Kinnear Beatson and Greater Western Sydney’s Adrian Caruso.
Your's and my 2024 calls on Charlie West looking good about now, best contested marking tall in that draft, sub 3.00 sec 20m and high end atheticism., strange he was hardly ever mentioned by draft watchers.Wouldn't complain, he's been my #2 in this draft for well over a year now. Shouldn't get to us though.

Trial yesterday then trial against NSW at Blacktown next week ? Doesn’t seem too badHow about the ridiculous programming for the SA U18's leading into their 2025 Nationals campaign's 1st game on June 1.
So they played round 6 on the 6th May now they don't play again to round 7 the 24th May the week before the Nationals on June 1.
No doubt about it the SANFL have some geniuses that came up with this schedule!!!!
1 game in close to 3 weeks as a lead up to the Nationals is bizarre to say the least,
18s we’re all over them until rain came at 1/4 time then the bigger bodies stood out especially Hargrave and Wheaton and the key positions for 18s struggled especially Marsh and SchubertUnder 18's did a lot better than I thought. Vastly different story in WA. Need to catch a replay if it is not under a ridiculous subscription.
