You should never judge Draftee's are year 1 .....both, if they have good or average years
We've been watching him in our system for 2 years closely though, and hes not progressing to me.

Im not seeing the flashes of athleticism or talent that was so enticing as an underager.

Just seeing a low possession impact, 3rd tall forward with less then a goal a game career average in a very good SANFL team.

Like I said im in his corner and hope he takes that step. Although if anything, im getting less confident as time goes on.

If we hold our first pick, there's also the 2 SA KPF's that range (Schubert and Marsh), which would be good given our void in young KPF talent on the list.

Walker has between 0-1 years left on those legs, and Burgess is pretty much consensus SANFL level. Welsh looks closer to SAAFL level then AFL level right now (fingers crossed he takes a BIG step forward soon). But after that we are down to Toby Murray who has awesome traits, but still very raw, TBH I'd be more interested in trialling him at CHB next year then CHF.

For me getting a high ceiling KPF in the draft to develop for 12 or so months is a sneaky high priority. We know the big boys take time, and both the above look like they need to hit a weights room and ultra protein diet for a couple years before they really get up to speed.
I doubt AFL clubs see Mitch Marsh as a KPF at AFL level, more a roaming 3rd tall that gets higher up the ground.

If we can trade up a bit for Cumming, I’d do it in a heartbeat

I think Sharp will be a bit too high for us to aim for, even though he’d fill a current need as well

If we got either, its going to sh*t port supporters off no end while they watch on with no meaningful picks in this draft

There's a strong argument that Blake Thredgold was BOG for Sturt, given the big matchup on Mitch Marsh and blanketing him so completely that Marsh had zero influence on the contest. Showing the impact of a lockdown job is difficult in a video like this. Thredgold did rack up a lot of marks, but most of them were uncontested from switches of play, and his most impactful work typically occurred in the lead up before the ball arrived, using canny bodywork to block Marsh's run or muscle him away from marking contests.

Final teams in for the annual U17's showcase game at the MCG on Grand Final Day..

Good to see midfielder/half back Ethan Drever has now been included after not being named in the original squads. WWT Mitch Harris also a late in.

Going to be a great ruck battle between Ethan Herbert (SA) and Benji Van Rooyen (WA).

Plenty of top end talent judging on those that have starred as underagers this year.

Instead of draft picks, why not just have draft points that are based on where you finish. You could use the points allocated to the picks now for simplicity and those points then naturally fall to the clubs in lieu of picks. So instead of having a 1sR, 2ndR, 3rdR, 4thR etc, you just get a total points allocation based on where you have finished on the ladder. Then just have a bid system for every player and teams will quickly exhaust their points as they are successful in garnering players when they outbid other sides. Then once all of a clubs points are gone, they go to the back of the queue and have to wait to pick players to fill out their list once the other sides have exhausted their points. If a club has filled its list and has spare points, they can nominate that they will bank them for the following year.

Something like this then opens up the draft.
I suggested this a month ago and… crickets 😆

More importantly, will his height make teams wary enough that he drops into our first third round pick?
Better go watch some games he's played, Talor is extremely good overhead along with all his other exceptional small forward traits His Vic Country game at the Nationals where he played exclusively forward was the best individual small forward performance of the series. He's the closest draftee in this draft to Kossie Pickett stylistically with his take no prisoners attack on the contest and at 174cm bigger than Kossie. Can't see anyway he will be available with our 3rd round pick

What draft range do you think he'll be in?
I'm biased so I wouldn't baulk at using our 1st given it will likely be in the 20's. My best guess would be he will likely go 2nd round at some point as he doesn't have the high profile of some the city APS private school lads.

Preference for our first at this point is Cumming, then Dovaston/Marsh/Phillipou. All should fill needs, one way or another

I’d be keen on Greeves, but if we’re getting Stevens, I think the two would be too similar athletically

Got wheels? Doesn’t look like he moves like Pickett.
We need a speedy small forward ....emphasis on speed

Like a GWS Darcy Jones .....or a Bobby Hill

These speedy players attract multiple defenders, creating free players

Pickett or Byrne would be very good if we end up with a early to mid 2nd, but I don’t think we will

I have Dovaston very high on my rankings, will be a very good forward, but in regards to us I’ve got him equal with some guys I have ranked lower due to being not a super speedy type
