AFL increases NGA pool for SA teams!

(Don't look up how many players have come from Cooper Pedy)
We get the APY lands lol.

Aside from the once a year coaching clinic and some new footies, we might as well not bother.

Awesome, we gain access to an area with a total population around 2000
Can we arrange for some of our best young talent to board there for a few months before the national draft.

Actually McGuanne is a very similat player to Taylor with very good skills albeit a bit quicker and certainly a far better runner.
I like the Mcguanne training gig, and I agree with most of your analysis. I think Taylor's best strength is his awareness, which Macguanne and most of the Crows players are left behind with.

I'd rather go the other way. Take the player with extreme football IQ and/or elite ball use that isn't quite at the modern physical profile of an AFL player. Maybe a bit short, seen as too slow, poor endurance, whatever.

Players with size or pace but have no footy IQ will never make it no matter how much time you put in.
High footy IQ is a lot of things but mainly the ability to run to the right places to find the ball AND do something clever once you have the ball. I think sometimes players get described as having high footy IQ where the players ability to find the ball gets conflated with the ability to do something clever with it, when they really only possess the former.

Daicos is the perfect example of high footy IQ.

Laird is the perfect example of someone who is very good at finding the ball but not very clever with the ball. There's only so many Lairds you can have especially facing good teams in finals where their pressure is high and you need to be able to pick through good zoning and well structured defence.

I wonder if McGuane is the laird type.

If he has a career like Laird he'll have done well

Did Leon Kickett get drafted in the end?

He’d be a player I’d love for us to have a look at over preseason for our last spot if he’s still available.

I see it as having an understanding of the game so that you are doing the right things at the right time. Positioning and where to dispose the ball. Not necessarily executing with skills perfectly but having a good feel for what to do

Yeah that too. Even things like disguising the ball going over the line without getting pinged for deliberate.

All the small forwards that were rated got drafted, Dovaston, Byrne, Pickett, Kickett, Peucker, Mikunda etc, several others that got drafted will probably end up in that role as well.

Couple of takeaways from Gettable from the draft wrap up after Cal speaking to multiple recruiters.

Crows came very hard even for pick 3 to get Sharp.
Many clubs had Sam Cumming @ 3
No pure ruckman taken as clubs will not spend 5 years developing one.
Bailey has a queue of clubs inc Adelaide to throw massive deals close to $2 mill

What would be the absolute icing for us is if we could convince bailey to come and blow Brisbane out the water so its only a compo pick they get and we don't have to trade. Then use our 1st and if needed 2027 1st for Sanders from the Bulldogs. It would set us up by completing our midfield to compliment our very good defence and very dynamic attack.

I wonder if it was definitely Sharp we were wanting that early or did we maybe have Cumming higher up our boards?

Who'd be a ruckman then. Have to spend 5 years in SANFL/VFL/NEAFL before being drafted

The little push on ROB got a giggle out of me. The kids got a bit of spirit about him.

I wonder if Shane Edwards welcoming the players to the club 2 days ago might signify a changing of the guard in our recruiting team though Richard Taylor is the more senior recruiter on the team?
Edwards has a good eye for talent, on a side note Hamish is not looking like a well individual atm.

He had quite a serious limp going on Draft night
