I actually think we use one of our picks on Taylor.

All the mids either have question marks or are not what we really need.

Taylor will slot in as a replacement for broad or vlastuin, has all the traits (kicking, athleticism, size, marking, mixes both defence and offense), and is basically a guaranteed 200 gamer. Defenders who can defend aren't as flashy and sought after at the draft, but they win premierships.

Take him and one of the mids, and then aim for another mid next draft when there will be one that fits our needs better / is less speculative.

noobermensch are there any Grlj playing midfield games you could clip? Or did his coach never really give him the opportunity?

Every single Coates game he played was centre square midfield until his injury in the wildcard game.

Was also bog in metro trial game as centre square mid but never got the footage except his ridiculous double side step run down on the wing on gettable.

It has already been posted in the thread, but here it is again:

RICHMOND

Draft Picks Pre-Trade Period: 2, 3
Draft Picks Post-Trade Period: 3, 4, 38

The Tigers are holding on to their first two picks in this year’s draft – for now. List boss Blair Hartley said after the conclusion of the trade period that the club would “listen to offers”, with Essendon being among the sides looking to climb the order. But that doesn’t mean Richmond will trade either of those picks, with Hartley saying they are “pretty comfortable” with where they sit as they look to add some more high-end talent to their list. With West Coast being favoured to take Willem Duursma and Cooper Duff-Tytler with the first two picks, the Tigers may look to players like Eastern Ranges draft bolter Sullivan Robey, Central District onballer Dyson Sharp, Oakleigh Chargers speedster Sam Grlj and Eastern Ranges defender Xavier Taylor and. Grlj impressed for the Tigers in two VFL games late in the season, with VFL coach Jake Batchelor declaring he was “going to be a heck of a player”. Richmond is yet to fully commit to father-son prospect Louis Kellaway, but expectations are he will find his way to Punt Rd later in the draft.

I think while speed is important it's being overstated. Our current young midfield is: Hotton (2.88), McAuliffe (2.93), Lalor (didn't test, probably around 3), Smillie (3.09) and Seth potentially pinch hitting (2.98), none of those guys are really slow, and while Lalor and Smillie are average to below average they both have other skills like their great kicking to make up for it. Even if we take Sharp and Robey who are slower than Cumming and Grlj it will not be the end of the world, Brisbane weren't running 6 sub-3s mids. We still have another crack in 2026 which by all accounts will have better transitional mids.

It’s the stupid pretending that superfooty, codesports, hs and news.com are different outlets, but really it’s just getting the same post from groupie, Shazza, vblongneck etc..

I dont see it at, not alot of weaving through traffic like Cotch could do.

Only similarity for me is maybe attack on the man.
Watch the highlights from his VFL game against Sandringham ... my favourite is when he was streaming through the centre square and he just ran straight through the tackler and then delivered the kick lace out.

Would people be happy with a
3. Robey 4. Sharp combination

Or if we take robey we should look to pair him with a grlj or Cummings type.

I would assume in a draft not so deep. You just take best available and move on
For me it’s:
Sharp/Robey
Cumming/Grjl

In no particular order or combo. Just want a bigger midfielder paired with some pace and flair.

I am totally confused, if the 2025 draft is so shallow, why is there 100's of entries by people trading down for additional picks?

Cal twommey seemed to think we'd be taking Taylor during the trade coverage, so think you might get your wish.
