But you are ignoring what occurred prior like trading out of the 2020 draft where Holmes was taken
Trading 3 x 1st rounders and 2nd rounder for Taranto & Hopper
How can we say our rebuild is in year 5 when prior to 2024 draft our first selection was #40
2023 pick #40 & #43
2022 was pick #49 & #55
2021 was 4 selctions inside #30 which is the outlier
2020 was pick #40 & #51

So prior to 2024 the previous 4 years we only had 2 players selected inside pick #20 Gibcus #9 Brown #17
So effectively our rebuild started with the 2024 draft and 5 year rebuild expected to be completed after the 2028 draft if all things go well
Look at the list profile .... that is age and games played.

Taranto and Hopper gave us two elite inside mids Pick 2 and 9 that are 28 and 29 yo with 150-200 games (which was a gap in the list from the dynasty)

Unpopular opinion here, if we are going for need opposed to best talent, I would try to trade one of our picks for 7 and 8 and try to move up the draft board from 38 to get Barker or NHH.
A scenario where we get robey or CDT, then get 2 of taylor cumming grlj sharp lindsay, seems the best situation as well as Barker (wing) seems to like a great draft to fill holes. NHH would be great just very inconsistent thinking injuries may have cost him a bit.
I definitely think that Barker could be good value for a team though I keep reminding myself that only Duursma would have gone first round last year (others say Duursma, CDT, and Robey) so in a draft this weak you want the minimum picks not more.

An example is that we gave Retschko,a delisted rookie from last draft, a full list spot rather than try and get extra picks ... the club obviously doesn't rate this draft ... and Sonsie and Dow haven't been delisted because we are trying to work out whether any 2nd round picks are worth giving two years contracts to and the answer may be probably not

This is in the context of us threatening to bid at pick 2.
Yes but if they trade out and keep 11 and get points then when / if the eagles bid the blues can just trade out 9 and match with the points they got for 11 and go into deficit which wont matter as they would have traded 9 into futures

Blub clubs font fall for these tricks as they know what the deal is and the eagles could very easily end up with Dean on their list at #2 which may not be what they want or need

Not all posters. Only the 20% who haven’t put him on ignore!
Don’t put him on ignore. The comedy value will be lost. Just don’t get involved in discussion with him. He’s a goose. Sit back and watch the exasperation of those who try and converse with him. I envisage the steam coming from their ears as they pound their heads against the wall. Magic has shit for brains.

Every single one of our KPDs are shit apart from Harry Edwards who has shown a bit. Wouldn’t mind Dean at 2 at all.

Carlton would be silly not to pick up the phone and ask what our intentions are and if they are to bid is there an alternative.

For what its worth, I do agree he is underrated however think it would be a poor choice for wce. Firstly let's assume they take Dursma, he probably starts as an outside player initially, so can't see him really helping wce midfield next yr. Secondly getting Dean might take another yr or two to develop (even though I'd argue he could be ready to go), also having the go home factor and pull to play for his family club which he has indicated he wants to so there is a definite go home factor. Wce pick 3rd pick likely ends up around 13 now, very good chance all of the top line midfielders are gone by now cumming Sharp robey grlj, so I don't see how they get much better initially next yr for example. They make have to go greeves (who i think could be adecent pick up for them) however they only have 2 vic metro players on their list as they seems to be concerned about the go home factor.
Your points are very valid but WC like ourselves are not doing much in the next couple of years. They have yet to develop a spine and Dean is the ideal type. Yes there is a go home factor but if Carlton don’t match this year, I doubt Dean would give a shit about them in the future.

Yeah could very well be right, I think if wce were serious about taking him though they'd stay quiet and just would have bid on him at pick 2 on draft night blindsiding carlton. Carlton would be then in a really hard place with no preparation of whether to match or not. Feels like it's a play for them to move up to probably pick 9. Tbh the more i think about it like this, the more i think its definitely just a tactic to move up, there doesn't seem to be any reason you'd tell carlton until you bid on him at 2 if wce wanted him

I'm having the same experience. Currently 33 pages behind (I'm up to this comment of yours). 33 pages in 6 days, wtf!

Likewise

Was more in the trade thread last few weeks and have been 40 pages behind here. Taken me weeks to get within 10 pages and then campaigners add another 10 pages rehashing the same points from the last 50 about splitting, sharp, robey, grilj. I did enjoy the random tangent about testing robey for PEDs given his rise... campaigners

I'd take Robey then slide pick 4 down to Essendon for 5 and something extra (21).

Let them take CDT while we take Grlj and have a pick that could land us NHH, Emmett, etc

Not against something like this when you look at the total picture.

We trade 4&38 for 5&21 with bombers.

Essentially means we traded pick 27 (2024) and pick 25 for 5&21..

lol norf
lol bummers

If Carlton did not match a bid for Dean, then guys like Walker next year would doubt the viability of nominating the blues. They’ll match if a bid comes early.
If west coast dont bid for Dean we should. Our first picks should be Dean at 3, annabel at 4, Zeke at 5 and Paterson at 6. Make them all pay as much as possible but especially Carlton.

Twomey has Robey 3 & Taylor 4 in open pool

Grlj at 8.

Also has correct heights

Noticed he has CDT at 201cms now, and expected to grow taller. Wouldn’t mind us picking him up now if WCE are silly enough to pass on him.

Cumming has shrunk? XT has grown, ran a 3.1 20m, I’m sure in preseason he ran sub 3.

It’s really Robey and ???

People suggesting Richmond should recruit Xavier Taylor should give themselves multiple punches in the groin, why on earth would Richmond want a beaker clone from the muppets!

I think you’re misunderstanding what he’s trying to say? Either that or I am😂😂 I think he means with what we’ve taken in early picks in the draft over the last few years, we have drafted 5 years worth of talent, if that makes sense?
Basically ... in terms of first round picks it's ten years worth of talent ... our list profile is similar to GWS around 2014

Without Taranto and Hopper we would be 7-8 years away from being competitive... with them we will compete in 2-3 years ... we just need the speed now
