Gather Round tickets snapped up in record time

The AFL is pleased to announce that more than 195,000 Gather Round…Festival of Footy tickets have sold… with five of the nine games sold out, 20,000 more than this time last year.

Member on sale on Tuesday saw a significant uplift in demand for tickets this year, selling more than 100,000 tickets in the first four hours, in comparison to the same amount in 24 hours last year.

This year there are an extra 47,000 tickets on offer for fans with the two Saturday matches being ticketed separately.

Tickets still remain for Collingwood vs Sydney Swans on Friday night, Carlton vs West Coast on Saturday afternoon, Melbourne vs Essendon on Saturday night and a very limited number of restricted view tickets and tickets for the Pepsi Collective for Port Adelaide vs Hawthorn on Sunday evening.

AFL CEO Andrew Dillon said it was clear Gather Round momentum was not slowly down.

“The demand for tickets this year was significantly higher than the first two Gather Rounds, with more than 195,000 tickets being purchased in the first two days,” said Mr Dillon.

“A ticket to the matches at the Barossa Park was always going to be one of the hottest tickets in town and the fans have certainly illustrated that by selling out both matches so quickly.”

South Australian Premier Peter Malinauskas said: “Gather Round continues to exceed all expectations.

“We are honoured that so many footy fans from around the country are making the commitment to travel to our beautiful state to experience this event like no other.

“They’ll be truly welcome.

“If you haven’t got a ticket already – get in quick!”

Tickets for the remaining matches can be found here.

Will be a flop. Probably 35+ degrees too
How’s opening round on the GC selling?

I think you can expect a big travelling Bombers party from Victoria along with its local support. You’d think it will sellout prior to matchday.

It’s 2024 encounter sold out morning of the game (outside school holiday slot).

The match is still a while away on February 15, but the ticket says are intriguing for the Fremantle vs Indigenous All Stars game. Seems like only a small section behind both goals on level 1 and 3 have been released for sale so far.

I went to look at tix before Xmas and they were offering seats in section 140 but I thought I’m not sitting in the sun when it’s 35 degrees so will till other seats come on sale.

Level 5 is now shown as General Admission, though not for sale yet.

I dunno about a flop, but the 4:30 start time in the middle of February is going to make it tough. I can't imagine the TV audience for a practice match is going to be that big anyway, do I'm surprised they didn't make it a night game.
If it's 40 plus degrees then it could be a disaster.

For the Freo vs Indigenous All Stars game blocks on the ground floor behind the goals have all sold.

Now some blocks on the ground floor wings have been released, and more blocks on level 3 have too.

The entire 5th level is identified as General Admission but not for sale yet.

Any predictions for the attendance for the Indigenous Allstars game this weekend?

It is hard to gauge because of the top level being all General Admission. But it looks like all of the Reserved Seats are likely to sell with not many remaining on the eastern side level 3 behind the goals. Though I still never saw the ground level wings for sale…

I’m going to guess a crowd of 35,000.

Edit: One day later and the reserved seating is all sold. General Admission on level 5 only available now.

The ground level wings were on sale before Xmas to members. I didn’t bother with them in case it was a hot day and you could be sitting in the sun baking but as the temp is now only guuna be 36 degrees it should be fine 😂

This Sat |- all level 1 - 4 seats sold. Maybe 40k?

OR
Lions sold out.
Swans v Hawks. Around 1k available
GC v Dons - looks all tickets now released. Heaps left. Maybe 15k sold
GWS v Pies - not as strong as last year. A few thousand left but not sure if all released yet.

GR
Only two games not sold out
Blues v WC selling well. Assuming all tickets released, maybe 5k left
Dees v Dons around 8k - 10k unsold.

What’s the crowd looking like in Perth? Not near a Tv to have a look
They just said it was ‘over 35.’ Wouldn’t be surprised if it was closer to 40. There’s a fair few empty seats on the sunny side, but otherwise the bottom two levels look pretty full. The top level only looks half open, but what is open looks 2/3-3/4 full.

I think the way forward for the IAS game would be to swap around vs different AFL clubs in different cities. Unless Freo really eant to keep it playing in Perth against them every year. But I think other AFL clubs may be interested in hosting a game against the IAS team.
