Did you. As soon as i saw him play i knew my initial perceptions ( based on descriptions ) had been wrong .
Well he sure wasn't Owens the way he went about it at first and I'm not having a go at him in any way so lets not go there.

Some kids take a bit to feel comfortable, that's not unusual

Yea , if we give him the opportunity. It’s the most important skill in being mid is , driving the legs and moving out of the stoppage. If you can’t do that you’re gonna struggle to be a mid. He has a knack to being on the move of getting the ball going out of stoppages.
It’s a very good point, Ads. Otherwise they’re flat footed and shuffling the hot potato to someone else to take the heat. We’ve had a lot of that for a decade!

That's very promising, he looks quite athletic too.

I just remember seeing him go after the ball a couple of times and he was no seagull. I just went through the highlights of his first game though, and he didn't get a look in. Good highlights though.

I never said he was a seagull ,

I’ll give you some examples of guys who either could or couldn’t

Could
  • Naz
  • Hugo has learnt
  • Pou learning
  • As I mentioned (Ashcroft is great at it)
  • Will day
  • Errol

Otherwise you basically either have to have elite decision making.

  • Pendles
  • Bont
  • Neale
  • Mcrae
  • Sam Mitchell.

OR be super strong and break through tackle
  • Cripps
  • Josh Kennedy

Sorry I never gave you the list of guys who couldn’t
  • Aiden Bonnar
  • Ben Lennon
  • Jack Billings imo was never given fair opportunity
  • Sam Sturt
  • Brodie Kemp

Some of the guys settle into other positions, others get delisted.

kicking looks great, hit a target with every i50 (first 3 managed to spill the mark but the kick was good), really just need to see it in some big games now

Really like the look of him. Impacts inside and out, good mark, good kick and aggressive.

Looks average by hand but that could be the easiest skill to develop and probably more reflective of his limited midfield experience.

Can see him plays through all three lines.

He looks good but still not in love with this draft. Last year was so exceptional that it makes this one looks terrible. To me Fincher looks like he's an okay player but would barely have got a look in before the 4th round last year and Fincher looks pretty close in quality to most of the top 10 this year.

It's an even draft with a mass of GOPs. It looks like one that only a handful of guns will come out of and I reckon they could just as likely be taken in the 20s than the first 10 picks.

I'd be happy to take Fincher and trade out of it.

40 disposals and 3 goals in wildcard round for finals isn't too bad

Then 27 and 2 in the qualifying final

This is the big-bodied mid that suits us imo, not Oliver Greeves
did we get the clearance numbers for the quali final? or did he just not get any.. he played well tho dont get me wrong, could definitely be a mcrae/steele replacement

Had a bit of a watch on the dragons game. Fincher’s ability to get the ball moving from stoppage was elite especially in the big moments. Showed a great ability to use fast give and go and drove his legs strongly.

Simmilar to what Will Ashcroft does really well.
Watched last night and Fincher and Bamert looked good for Sandy, what did you think of Oakleigh as they usually have a few go in the draft?

Yea oakliegh looked OK.

Liked the look of Jack Ison. Crafty left footer.

Grilj, I’m not fully sold on tbh. Idk why I think he has potential but I worry about his contested game. In some ways reminds of Lachie Ash. In other ways, a more skilled Tsatas.

The dream.

fella is a behemoth, has the agility of a 40 year old WOW player, decent skillz but

Yeah I watched that also he is a slow moving huge unit. I had him in my wish list as a late draft pick, but looking at that vision he might be lucky to get drafted.

Perhaps we consider a tall with our first pick eg Aidan Schubert or Archie Ludowke as the back end of the draft doesn't look great for talls.

The worry with Grlj is the Zac Jones vibe. I reckon if he doesn't become an absolute star he could end up another Zac who runs like a lubricated ferret on amphetamines but can't seem to make it all work on the field.
