“I don’t really care who gets the job …”

This made me laugh.
There's also a part where he lists his individual accolades which made me chuckle. That being said, easy to take out of context in print

From Gettable/Twomey today (via Reddit):
  • Adelaide can be ruled out of the chase for Judd McVee (MEL), a decision on McVee isn't likely until the Dees appoint their new coach.
  • Max Heath (STK) is expected to join Melbourne.
  • Wade Derksen is gone from GWS, he'll likely get to Melbourne as a delisted free agent.
  • Sam Flanders (GC) has interest from Melbourne and Carlton, in addition to St Kilda.

Might as well just post the whole thing. Some insane money being thrown around

  • Port Adelaide's 8 year offer (2+ a 6 trigger) to Zak Butters is worth around $13-14 million
  • North Melbourne's offer to Marcus Windhager is around $3.5-4 million over 5 years. He's expected to to stay at St Kilda on a 4 year deal though, West Coast have also entered the race
  • Jamie Elliott and Brodie Mihocek both have offers on the table from Collingwood (2 and 1 year respectively), both probably have bigger offers out there from other clubs however
  • Adelaide can be ruled out of the chase for Judd McVee (MEL), a decision on McVee isn't likely until the Dees appoint their new coach
  • Calum Ah Chee is leaning towards leaving Brisbane. Adelaide are known to have strong interest
  • Wade Derksen is gone from GWS, he'll likely get to Melbourne as a delisted free agent
  • Essendon is preparing a mega deal to Zac Bailey (BRI) who's a free agent at the end of next year. It's around $1.3mil a year over 6 years
  • Clubs involved in the Jack Silvagni chase believe he's leaning towards joining St Kilda. Their offer is around 5 years, $800-850k a year, compared to the Dogs and Pies who are around 4 x $600k. Would net Carlton an end of 1st round compensation Pick
  • Clubs will enquire about Adam Treloar, as he doesn't have a new deal on the table from the Bulldogs but wants to stay. It's the last year that Collingwood are paying him $300k
  • Brandon Starcevich's decision between staying at Brisbane or moving to West Coast is set to go down to the wire
  • Sydney and Richmond are the two clubs at the front of the chase for Malcolm Rosas Jr (GC)
  • Jacob Wehr (GWS) can be locked in for a move to Port Adelaide as a free agent (previously delisted meaning no compensation for the Giants)
  • Players who's season has ended but are still un-signed is typically a signal that they're looking to see what else might be out there. Jesse Motlop (CAR) and Peter Ladhams (SYD) are in this boat
  • Ned Reeves is now leaning towards extended his deal at Hawthorn beyond the end of next year
  • Carlton has turned it's back-up ruck attention to Liam Reidy (FRE) and he is likely to move there
  • Liam Ryan (WCE) is doing a medical at St Kilda on Wednesday (presumably meaning today), a trade still needs to happen there though
  • Will Brodie (FRE) is expected to be in a Port Adelaide jumper next year, will be a very cheap and quick trade
  • Hawthorn had an 11 year offer on the table for Harley Reid (WC), at around $1.7-$1.8 mil a year
  • James Worpel won't make a decision on his future until the end of Hawthorn's finals campaign, but he seems almost certain to join Geelong
  • Offers for Connor Budarick (GC) could reach around 3-5 years, Brisbane are now among the clubs interested
  • Max Heath (STK) is expected to join Melbourne
  • St Kilda's chase of Jack Silvagni isn't likely to affect Leek Aleer's expected move to Moorabbin
  • Sam Flanders (GC) has interest from Melbourne and Carlton, in addition to St Kilda

Our collection of state-league talls is unmatched.

Campbell, Verrall, Heath, Derksen, Adams, Johnson, Jefferson, Fullarton (prob delisted), Kentfield, (plus JVR, Petty, May and Lever all at that level recently). Stacked

I mean, Heath's numbers look OK so happy to take him and cut Fullarton and Campbell loose.

What exactly does Derksen do? Almost zero goals while predominantly playing forward?
Disregard the player positions on that table, played almost exclusively down back.

Averaging like 8 marks a game there too. Something doesn't add up.

That makes more sense. No way a Full forward taking 13 marks isn't taking a single shot at goal.

He was actually quite good down back over the past two years.

July 2025: The untried 194cm interceptor has enjoyed a fine spell at reserves level to stake his claim. Derksen is averaging 20.4 disposals and nine marks per game in the VFL, including a performance against Gold Coast in his last outing that yielded 24 touches and 14 marks. Melbourne is among the clubs circling Derksen as a potential trade option at season's end, given his standout displays in the second tier.

2024: Converted from a 34-goal 2023 into becoming one of the best key defenders in the VFL with 19.5 disposals at 76.7 per cent efficiency, 6.9 marks and 4.3 rebounds, making the Team of the Year squad and being unlucky not to be in the final team.

Yeah, I don't know why they bother with that column. VFL teamsheets are weird

There's a world where next year, St Kilda could have more than $7 million in annual cap space allocated to a group that has one combined All-Australian selection (with none of the others ever getting particularly close): Wanganeen-Milera, De Koning, Silvagni, Aleer, Windhager and Flanders. It's a massive gamble

Silvagni deal only being end of first round compo stands out to me. 5 years at 800k just isn't that big a deal nowadays.
Yeah the recent CBA raised the bar a bit. Think most players would be getting above 600k these days.

Would love to land Flanders.
