No, it's the AFL clubs who are wrong

If your handle on twitter is @afldraftexpert you are definitely not an AFL draft expert.

Very clear this has nothing to do with his game and everything about things we are not privy to.

No ****ing idea why this campaigner stuck in my head but there was an SA kid called Matthew Panos who was supposed to be a top 20 pick, possibly even top 10. Think it was around 09-2011. Bloke ended up going to the dogs as either a late pick or a rookie and was dog shit.

When these blokes side out of the draft there's clearly something the club's know.

I remember that name as well. I could only see him as a rookie upgrade in 2011. By the looks of it had a decent SANFL career.

I remember him, think he was a KPF?

In reality the clubs know a lot more than the media and always will. Sometimes they'll leak info to the media but during the buildup it's in their best interest to feed some false narratives.

Yeah reckon he was like a 192cm sort of key forward, alot of mock drafts had him top 10. Think we were even linked to him aswell.

I remember Panos.

He was in all the phantom drafts as a top 10 (or close) prospect.

The knock on him in the end was that he was very one-dimensional as a lead up forward. He was one of those man-children who was physically dominant at junior level but couldn’t translate that to AFL level.

I remember him being compared to Brendan Fevola..!

Late 00's early 10's was really era of shithouse 'athletic' key forwards.

So many went so high in the draft and never really made it.

Yeah read back over some old draft threads and Jack Fitzpatrick got some big wraps as a tall bloke who was fast.

John Butcher was also really highly rated (and a top 10 pick?) but couldn't make the adjustment to AFL

Riley Onley taken in the rookie draft to round things out.
Hibbins-Hargreaves didn't even get a gig in the rookie draft (neither did Ah Mu)
Very surprised about NHH, not as much about Ah Mu. Surely a club gives Noah a train on invite.

OnleyFans would make a good username.

Greeves ends up at Hawks after all.

My son played with him at Caulfield Grammar and I watched him a lot. I’m really not sure about the suggestions of off field issues - think it’s genuinely about whether his profile will translate to AFL. Very good footballer and seems like a good kid so really happy he got taken.

Don’t be surprised if Greeves and Jack Dalton turn out to be very handy mids for the Hawks. Dalton I especially think could be a steal
